Book a Function – our Function Pack
MEKONG FUNCTION & EVENTS Kensington Street’s Indochine masterpiece Mekong is now available for private functions. Whether it is a sit down boardroom lunch, product launch, a celebration, birthday party, or a cocktail party, we are happy to accommodate all your needs. 7 days a week Minimum spend - POA Menus are listed below Please do not hesitate to contact us with your requirements Ryan Christopherson at 9282 9079 or manager@mekong-restaurant.com.au, or Nicky Ginsberg at 0417 494 317 or nickygisnberg@kensingtonstreet.com.au ABOUT MEKONG At Mekong, we drift down from Burma cloud country, trace the Lao border, wake up to Thai sunrises, pause by gilded Cambodian pagodas and wade through rice paddies in Vietnam. Each Asian fusion dish is an escapist’s wish. Each shareplate invites companions for the voyage. You there, traveler – this shall be your map. Chef Tiw Rakarin, formerly of Mama’s Buoi (Surry Hills) and Alphabet St (Cronulla), launches Mekong as his newest venture. The culinary terrain crosses entrees, shared mains and desserts to map out recipes that generations have passed through the Indochine provinces. Wander ever so slightly into foreign territory with ‘A duck at sunrise’, duck confit laid on red Thai curry with fresh tomato and pineapple. Or steer yourself towards ‘Spice of the omelette’, a crispy Lao omelette stuffed with sliced pork, morning glory and doused in soy chill sauce; perfect for any celebration. SELECTED MEDIA Good Food - Terry Durack, chief restaurant critic for Sydney Morning Herald, visits Mekong. “[Mekong] brings us dishes we don’t often see, taking its influences from the Mekong River’s own journey through Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam...” Concrete Playground - “open space, soothing greens, bamboo feature walls, dark furnishings, fresh plants and some dim lighting set the scene for your culinary feast.” The Urban List - “Weekend warriors make your way to Kensington St where South East-Asian cuisine is king.” Mekong named as one of six restaurants to try this weekend. Gourmantic - “If your idea of Indochine cuisine is your local Thai takeaway joint, Mekong will take your taste buds on a south-east Asian journey and educate your palate.” Broadsheet - Nicholas Jordan and Leigh Griffiths of Broadsheet go to dinner at Mekong. Eat Drink Play - “A lot of care and thought has gone into the creation of Kensington Street’s Mekong. The premise is exciting and the food is mouth-watering and aromatic.” The Daily Telegraph - Mekong: Chippendale’s fanciest Spice Alley offering is the jewel in the crown.
