the LegenD oF iBoU Min’
once upon a time there was a forest with birds
wearing crowns on their heads.
once upon a second time there was a forest
with birds wearing hats on their heads.
one day a crowned bird living all alone in his
big tree decides to travel without his crown. At
first left out by the other birds from the other
forests because of his differences, he is soon
recognised as the king of all birds. tempted
by power, he will finally choose to teach the
birds that accepting differences is to be celebrated. Bright and colourful illustrations for a
story telling us about simple yet essential values in life.
Mine is a young indonesian woman blessed with uncommon kindness and courage. she is always smiling and is ready to help, and in the village everyone
calls her ibou, “mother”.
But one day, when she’s going fishing with her son,
the two of them disappear in the ocean. not long
after they disappeared, the astonished villagers find
a turtle nearby, with a face strangely looking like ibou
Min’’s. the turtle is followed by a younger one, just
like ibou Min’ and her son.
soon, the village will be victim of the famine, and
people will discover that more and more turtles are
coming around. Finally, they understand that the
children they lost are gathering around ibou Min’,
who watches over them. since then, turtles are sacred and no fisherman dares to touch them.

A young girl wonders: “my dog has
very big ears, yet he seems to hear
only what he wants”. this might
have to do with the distance between his ears and his brain, or
maybe this dog just doesn’t want to
bother… Mathis witty illustrations
highlight Corinne Lovera Vitali’s intelligent text.
this is a beautiful yet tragic love story: the story of a
wolf who falls in love with a princess. the forest is
the witness of this fatal attraction and tells us how
the wolf tries to put on a disguise to charm the beautiful princess. the wolf kills walkers in order to steal
their clothes. But after all this, the wolf gets killed by
the king hunting in the forest. however, the tale ends
up not so badly after all, as the wolf’s fur becomes a
magnificent scarf worn by the princess, and the head
of the wolf then rests every day on the young princess’ chest.

the only thing she’s familiar with is this devout atmosphere, this
subordination to the above, the daily prayers in church and the
confessions in public for all misbehaviour. sarah knows that at
school, boys and girls do not wear the same clothes as she does,
that they watch tV and drink soft drinks, things that are forbidden
for her, but until now, sarah has not felt the burden of such a lifestyle. however, when sarah understands that next year, she will not
attend junior high school like the others and that she will have to
follow correspondence school so that she is not to be intoxicated
by “fake ideologies”, she realizes that she is being abused, and that
the rules of the Puritan Fellowship are too strict for her.
sarah might be thrown out of the Fellowship, and her parents with
her, only because she attended a tennis game, without her headscarf on and then lied about it. But sarah is ready to do what’s best
for her, even if it means leaving her parents behind her. she discovers much to her surprise that her little brother has the same desire, and together they will do everything to be happy.

Léa, a fifty year old widow, is living a solitary life in the mountain. however, her granddaughter Philippine, 16 years old,
comes to visit her to forget a hard breakup. Philippine’s heartbreak story makes old memories come to life and Léa, who always kept the secret of her first love to herself, opens her heart

From the work of Mirabeau, who first made the connection between debt and civil disorder, to the treaty of Maastricht which
hallows financial orthodoxy, economists and experts preach to
limit governments’ deficits and indebtedness. to better tailor the
laws of economics, one calls today out for tax payers’ and every
man’s common sense. however, is debt really that harmful to our
economy? in an easy and educational style, the author and economist Marc Bousseyrol leads both students and adults to a better understanding of a very topical subject. one then understands
that the debt isn’t bad in itself and that all economists do not
agree on the results of the debt.
