We Need Your Help
At the suggestion and request of Members, the golf staff is trying to
limit the use of our practice facilities by golfers trying to practice for
“Free”. In order to do so, we have asked our Outside Service Staff,
Starters and Rangers to notice when golf balls are left lying on the
putting greens and chipping green and to pick them up. We are also
trying to keep the range bags picked up on a regular basis. By doing
so, we hope to keep golfers from walking up on the practice tee and
picking up balls and then hitting them without paying.
If anyone sees this occur, please notify one of the staff and we will
address the issue immediately. Thank you for your cooperation.

BridgeMill Golf Academy
“Our
Goal is to Help You Enjoy Your Golf More”
Tips From The Pro
Smoooooooth
One of the fun things about teaching golf is that I quite often learn
something from my students while trying to help them with their game.
One of those times was when I was commenting about the wonderful
pace of this particular students’ swing and he said someone once told
him “You can’t put too many O’s in smooth.” It’s funny, but that is
almost always one of things that tour players say they are always
working on is to be smooth or unhurried.
So remember smoooooooooooth.
Best Wishes for your success!

Proper footwork is one of the most
underestimated aspects of a good
golf swing and quite honestly one
of the toughest to accurately
diagnose. SAM Balance Lab is a
tool used by many top teachers
and players to work on improving
footwork. Proper footwork leads to
better balance, more consistency
and more distance. Now who
doesn’t want that?
We appreciate your patronage and best wishes for

2014 Junior Academy Golf Program
The Fall session has concluded. The end of the session tournament was a lot of fun for the juniors. What
a great introduction to tournament golf! The session ending tournaments were an addition to the Academy
this year, and a huge success. The Academy will continue to include tournaments in the program. We are
looking forward to seeing everybody back for the Spring session.
BridgeMill’s Director of Player Development, Denise Killeen was featured in the Cherokee Tribune for her dedication to
junior golf. The article also highlighted BridgeMill juniors that have played, are currently playing, or are being actively
recruited to play college golf. Killeen began the academy several years ago with a vision of developing young talent to
reach their full golf potential. We are glad to see Coach Killeen and BridgeMill’s Junior Golf Academy receive such
recognition.
The McGrory Cup, a series of different tournaments for juniors, concluded with the Ryder Cup junior/junior vs senior/
senior event. The seniors won that tournament. The overall and flight winners for the McGrory Cup series will be
announced at the awards dinner in December. All divisions were very close. Thank you again to Molly McGrory of
Re/Max for sponsoring these events and dedication to community involvement.

Tip from the Pros . . . . .
Single vs. Doubles
With the USTA league season starting up some of you will be playing more
singles, which is definitely a different game than doubles but a fun challenge
that will improve your game. The primary strategy in singles is to try to force
your opponent to make more errors than you do. Do not beat yourself by
making unnecessary errors or taking unnecessary risks. Play to stay in the
point until you get an opportunity to set up a point-winning situation. You
need to recognize what position you are in on the court. Are you in a position
to hit an offensive, point-winning shot or should you be hitting a defensive,
stay in the point shot? Know your game and try to impose it on your
opponent. Try to do what you do best but be flexible and resilient. If
something is not working for you, change it up. Find your opponent’s
weaknesses and exploit them. Watch the player before the match during the
warm-up for clues to their weak or strong points. Look to see if your
opponent has a weaker forehand or backhand. Are they comfortable at the
net? Slow or fast? Do they like pace or not? These are questions that can
help you figure out a strategy that might work in your favor. Staying mentally
tough seems to be more of a challenge in singles than doubles. If you find
you are losing your focus take some deep breathes and watch the ball. Try
and see the words on the ball and this should help bring you back into the
playing “zone” and keep your thoughts off yourself.
Michael Blass Junior Tennis Foundation
Reminder
Please check in with the Pro Shop
attendant prior to play. The courts
are in high demand and checking in
ensures that you will not be bumped
off the court in the middle of a
match because it was previously
reserved. It also helps the staff
know what courts are being used
and who is on them.
Tennis courts are for BridgeMill
Athletic Club Members and their
guests.
Accompanied guest fees
are $10 per person. Athletic
Members and their guests are also
required to pay the $10 court fee.
Court fees should be paid before
play. Unaccompanied guests are
not permitted to use the courts.
21
Perhaps you’ve notice a man, who’s obviously
passionate about tennis, teaching on court 24
almost everyday. That’s Dr. Michael Blass, not
only one of the original members of the Club but
a USPTA certified Tennis Pro on the BridgeMill
staff. Tennis has been such an important part of
Michael’s life and has given him so much that he
is now, at 70 something years young, giving back
to the game and helping others. In lieu of
payment for Michael’s lessons, a foundation has
been set up in his name. While there is not a set fee for Michael’s
services, anyone taking lessons may donate to the foundation. The
Michael Blass Junior Tennis Foundation’s mission is to support juniors by
providing opportunities for them to develop physically and mentally
through the game of tennis. One of the ways the Foundation gives is to
provide lessons to deserving juniors that have a desire to excel and also to
juniors who might not be able to experience tennis without financial

BridgeMill Sixes
Service League
The Bridgemill Sixes Service League is thankful for the support of our community in helping make a difference for our
local charities. Our Annual Food Drive wouldn’t have been a success without your help. Thank you to all community
members who placed non-perishables out for our annual food drive that stocks the shelves of Cherokee MUST to help
feed families over Thanksgiving. Last year, MUST fed over 500 families in Cherokee County. We appreciate our chair
Susan Gaines, and her volunteer team for coordinating this massive undertaking. Happy Thanksgiving to all!
Once again, the Ghost and Goblin Twilight Family Fun Run was a success. Special thanks to Julia Fetters, Loui Padgett,
and their team for creating a fun family event that helps families in Cherokee County.
Get ready to support Goshen Valley Boys Ranch by joining us at their Annual Luncheon and Fashion Show to be held
on Nov 8th at the Country Club of Roswell. Please contact Susan Gaines if you are interested in attending at
susan2020@aol.com or the Goshen Valley Boys Ranch Website.
As the December Holiday’s approach, we have a few fun events planned. Please join us to decorate a Christmas Tree
at the R.T.Jones Library in Canton on November 17th, or come Christmas caroling at The Lodge at Bridgemill on
December 10th. These are just a few of the ways we are involved in our community.
Please contact Ruth Clark at RuthJClark1953@comcast.net if interested or if you would like to join our group. Our last
meeting for 2014 is November 20th, 7:00pm at the Terrace.
SCAT (Schools & Community Acting Together) for November are warm coats for elementary school children.
Remember to return your surveys at the November meeting or mail to BSSL at 3760 Sixes Road, Suite 126, Box 185,
Canton, Ga. 30114.
As you gather with your families and friends for Thanksgiving, count your blessings and say an extra prayer for those
members of our county who are not at home because they are serving in our military. We are so honored to make a
difference in the lives of children and families in Cherokee County.

BridgeMill Community Association
Are you interested in serving your community? There will be two vacant positions on the Board of Directors in January.
If you are interested in running for one of the two positions, please send your 150-500 word biography to
Bridgemill@accessmgt.com by November 16th. Candidates must be in good standing with the Association and have no
outstanding covenant violations. Each board member serves a two-year term. Interested candidates must be available
for monthly meetings and be available to respond to Association matters via phone and email on a regular basis. The
Election Committee will interview all potential candidates and make recommendations to our residents based on the
interviews. The candidate bios and proxies will be mailed to all residents in early January. Candidates will be required
to attend the Annual Meeting and give a speech (5 minute limit) to introduce themselves to the residents. Election results will be announced at the end of the Annual Meeting, which will be held on Monday, January 26th. Mandatory
HOA dues are due by January 15th. Invoices will be mailed out in early December. Please pay your dues on time to
avoid a late fee. Although the weather is turning cooler and people are spending more time inside, yards still need
to be maintained according to our community standards. An application of fresh mulch or pine straw really gives a
yard a manicured appearance; please remove dead annuals and spruce up the yard with pansies and other
seasonal plants; this is a great time of the year to plant flowering bulbs that will appear in spring.
The Association still has the UPS box in the UPS Store located in the Publix Shopping Center. Any owner wishing
to drop off a modification form for the Architectural Review Committee may utilize the UPS box or may drop off
their request to the Association office. The UPS Store is user friendly and is open Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. 7:00 p.m. and Saturday 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Our box number is 246 – no stamp needed, just paperclip your
forms or use an envelope.
