Page 2 Monthly Mooseletter Sickness and Distressed From the Governor We’ll just have to get along. That’s what people do, you know. They just get along. And try to help each other. Stephen King The Moose Lodge is currently on the look out for the spider who allegedly killed Bill Mooney’s Beta fish, Homer. The suspect has eight creepy little legs and was last seen with a piece of Homer’s blue fin sticking out of his mouth. If the spider is spotted, consider him very dangerous and squish immediately. Please contact Mr. Mooney if you think you may have seen the suspect. Thank you Eleanor Whalen for the spaghetti dinner you put on. It tasted great and we appreciate the money raised for the building fund. Also, thank you James Bryant for keeping the lawn mowed. A building that will serve as a storage shed was given to the Lodge along with $500 for Christmas for kids and $500 for heating oil by Priscilla McFarland in memory of Teddy McFarland. November 15th from 1-5pm will be a Celebration of Life for Tracy Lemoine at the VFW. Please keep Larry Beal and his family in your thoughts and prayers. His brother-in-law, Grant Perkins, recently passed away. Great job everyone with taking care of our Lodge. Keep up the good work. From the Bar Manager Your Governor, Jack Wentworth Would like to have an idea of how many people are willing to help with painting the Social Quarters sometime after Thanksgiving. Any one willing to help, please see me. Serving ‘Burnt on the outside, frozen on the inside’ hot dogs most Tuesdays and Thursdays unless more people sign up to make lunches. Polly MEETINGS Men’s meetings are the second and fourth Saturdays of every month at nine am. Women’s meetings are the first and third Sundays of every month at eight thirty am. Please make an effort to attend Find your way to Kilroy Kilroy is a Moose? My father served, as a chief signalman, on a United States Aircraft Carrier in the South Pacific during WW2. as a child my father would tell me strange stories of a mysterious soldier who would leave signs in the jungle islands, on beaches, in buildings and even floating on the water in a bottle. To me, these first hand accounts of Kilroy, from my father, seemed more real to me than my favorite TV heroes like Tarzan and Superman. Kilroy was always ahead of everyone else. Kilroy … was truly.. HERE! In Washington D.C. a memorial is engraved in stone, of Kilroy’s famous “peeking over a wall” face with his graffiti slogan “Kilroy was here”. This memorial is in honor of all the GI’s of WW2 who fought and died for our freedoms. To my knowledge, this is the only graffiti art to ever hold such a place in American history. As a member of the Ellsworth Moose Lodge it is a great pleasure to carry on the Kilroy legend as a “stand in” for the real “Kilroy”. We all, as members, give to many who never really know us and I guess in a way, we are all “Kilroy’s” in the hearts of folks who we try our very best to help with what we have to offer. To all the Kilroy’s who give at the Moose everywhere… Thank you! My childhood dream continues, Signed… Kilroy Page 3 Note from your Community Service Coordinator I would like to thank all that donated to the food box in the Social Quarters for the Emmaus Shelter. They are in need of many items, especially with the winter months coming so fast. My heart and prayers go out to the Lemoine family, keep them in your prayers. We will be having our Halloween Costume Exchange Party on October 18th from 4pm-7pm. There is a box in the Social Quarters for candy and costumes. There will also be a sign up sheet for volunteers, so bring your children and grandchildren and come enjoy games, face painting, monsters and many items to eat. Thanks to all, Debbie Thank you Super for your donation of $200 to the Mooseketeers! Great job to The Moose is Loose Pool League! You all played well this season! Great job Ian and Tanner! Volume 1, Issue 9 Mooseketeers The Mooseketeers were able to raise enough money to give five area schools two backpacks a piece. Each backpack was packed full with school supplies to be distributed where the school staff thinks the greatest need is. A huge THANK YOU to the members who donated money or school supplies and the Mooseketeers for raising money at the car wash! Thank you Chuckie, Dana and Pat Jordan for your generosity the final shopping Day! Also, for your help delivering backpacks. On the bottle drive $300 was raised to send to Down Syndrome Awareness!
