Our 673rd Meeting
March 13, 2015
Message From Our President...
It’s about time for another meeting
of the Glendale Coin Club! This month, we
have a program on Understanding Mint
Marks which should be of interest to most
collectors. Another program by an active
member of the club which is always fun!
Our meeting is the last chance to
order 2015 Glendale Coin Club medals.
The design is now final and we will be
submitting our one and only order
following the March meeting. If you are
unable to attend the meeting and still
wish to order medals, please call or email
me to order and arrange payment. Extra
medals will not be ordered so be sure to
have your payments in at the meeting.
See Page 6 for more information.
At the meeting, we will be accepting
nominations for all officer and board
positions. If you wish to become a more
active member in our coin club, please
consider taking a position. There will be at
least two open Board positions so we will
need at least a couple of you to step up!
The Buena Park Coin Show is the
weekend after our meeting and the
Verdugo Hills club show is two weeks later.
Check out all of the upcoming shows on
Page 5.
Finally, be sure to check out the
raffle prizes listed on Page 3. Also bring
your coins for show & tell and auction too.
See you all on Friday,
Mike

March’s Program...
Understanding Mint Marks
On Coins
This month, Ed Quon will be presenting a
short program on mint marks. Knowing
what mint marks are and where to locate
them is an important aspect of coin
collecting. Sometimes this small mark on
a coin can make it highly valued. In this
presentation, you will get learn about the
history and purpose of mint marks and will
get see where to find mint marks on
various types of coinage. We hope that
everyone finds this program interesting!

2015 Glendale Coin Club Medals...
As previously mentioned, we have again
commissioned Daniel Carr to strike medals
for our club. Daniel Carr is the designer of
the New York and Rhode Island statehood
quarters and his company owns a surplus
coin press from the Denver Mint. He did a
great job with our 2014 medals. Medals
will be struck in copper, silver and gold.
Final orders and payment will be due at
our March 13 meeting and we expect
delivery by our May meeting. The obverse
will be the same as our 2014 medals,
featuring the reverse design of the 1925
California Diamond Jubilee Half Dollar
surrounded by our club name in incused
lettering. The reverse designed will be
based on the cap/rays/stars design of the
Pacific Company $5 gold piece and will be
dated 2015. The design has now been
finalized and is shown below.
All active club members who attend a
meeting during 2015 will receive one
copper medal FREE! (1 medal per person,
2 medals per family membership)
Additional medals are priced as follows:
39mm Copper Medal = $10 each
39mm Silver .999 One Ounce Medal ("ONE
TROY OZ. 999 SILVER" marked on edge) =
$30 each
39mm Gold .999 50 Gram Medal ("50
GRAMS 999+ GOLD" marked on edge)
approx. 1.6 troy oz. gold = $2350 each
(price includes ANACS certification)
Please note that the final prices are subject
to adjustment in the event silver and gold
prices substantially change by the time
our order is placed in mid-March.
