We’ve come a long way from the Ingleside Resort in Staunton but have remained dedicated to promoting education and training, increasing performance and fostering communication among water works operators, maintenance and management personnel. Attendance is recommended for waterworks operators of both small and large groundwater and surface water systems. Come match wits against fellow operators in the Top Ops Competition or cheer for your favorites. Top Ops Competition During the Plant Operations Conference, a competition is conducted to find the Top Operators in Virginia to represent the Virginia Section at the AWWA Annual Conference and Exposition (ACE). The competition consists of a Jeopardy style format with teams answering questions related to water treatment. Teams consisting of 1 – 3 licensed operators compete for trophies and cash prizes; 1st place $300/team member; 2nd place $200/team member; 3rd place $100/team member. Financial assistance ($1000/team member) is offered by the Virginia Section for the team to compete at ACE the following year.
