REAL WOOD LAMINATE COLLECTION OBERFLEX Certification Oberflex is PEFC certified, which guarantees that wood used comes from sustainably-managed forests. The programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) ensures sustainable forest management through internationally recognised common rules. In 2010, Oberflex obtained FSC (Forest Stewardship Council). This provides a credible link between the raw material supplied from controlled harvesting forests and a responsible production process. FSC certification enables companies to make an informed choice towards products issued from environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial and economically viable forest management and manufacturing processes. OBERFLEX Maintenance The decor face of the Oberflex panels consists of real natural wood veneer, protected by a resin (Overlay) which gives it exceptional resistance qualities. An edging strip is also available to match exactly the face and to give continuity across the surface and edge as needed. The high resistance factor of the surface and the non-porosity of the Oberflex panels allow for the use of all maintenance products, including acetone and anti-graffiti products. OBERFLEX Conditioning Materials of whatever type are never inert and are sensitive to ambient conditions (temperature and humidity). Due to its real wood surface, the panels are slightly more sensitive to warping than conventional laminates. Prior to gluing, they need to be perfectly conditioned. If they are glued when moist, there is a risk of cracking due to shrinking of the wood, particularly in winter when humidity falls below 20%. The ideal method of conditioning is to store the substrates and panels for a period of 8 to 10 days in the same area where the atmospheric conditions are the closest possible to those of the site where they are to be used. This is especially important in the case of overheated rooms without humidity control. Ideal conditions are: • Temperature : from 18°C to 22°C • Relative humidity : 50-60% There is a risk of cracking due to shrinkage of the wood if the panel used is too moist, while too dry a panel may expand. This could result in warping or blistering on the surface if gluing was not perfect. Conditioning is effective only if air circulation is possible between the sheets during storage. Where substrates are to be faced on both sides, it is advisable to stack panels and substrates in the same sequence as their eventual construction in order to achieve hygrometric balance. A dry atmosphere is preferable to high humidity.
