A Letter From the Principal
There is a mildly amusing story about how I broke into the world of fashion
magazines some 25 years ago, most of which revolves around a small case
of mistaken identity and a huge stroke of luck. Unfortunately, particularly
in these highly competitive times in which we now live, luck just can’t be
depended upon. At the Condé Nast College of Fashion & Design, we have
created a unique educational offering that, with its strong vocational bias,
is arming a whole new generation of students with the skill and capability
to pursue a successful career in the fashion industry. It is, of course, still
an industry famously difficult to break into. As a result, the courses that
we offer have been expressly designed to help students open up those
famously closed doors and we are incredibly proud of the amazing breadth
of roles that our graduates are taking up right across the the global fashion
business. Whichever path students eventually choose to pursue, they will
gain at the Condé Nast College the sort of intensive grounding that will
enable them to perform with intelligence and skill wherever they go.

The Condé Nast College
The Condé Nast College is an important
starting point for those who want to be
tomorrow’s stars of the fashion industry.
With outstanding resources, award-winning
facilities and unrivalled industry access, the
College provides a unique insight into this
exciting and innovative industry
OUR VISION
The Condé Nast College offers strongly vocational courses designed to
prepare students for myriad creative careers. After a period of intensive
study at the College, students have a greatly improved understanding of
how the fashion industry works, an informed idea of which areas of the
industry they might like to work in and a dramatically improved chance of
attaining that ambition. Students at the College engage with every aspect
of the fashion business. We prepare students for the world of work in areas
as diverse as PR, marketing, styling, buying, art direction, print and digital
media and retail.
The College’s ambition is not only to educate its students to the highest
industry standard but also to ignite and nourish their interest for fashion
and business, and prepare them for their professional careers. The College
provides students with a unique educational experience, with access to
some of the best business and creative minds in the industry. Our courses
fuse exciting, rigorous and intensive learning programmes in a state-ofthe-art facility in central London.
An outstanding roster of industry speakers is an important part of the
College’s offering. Students will attend lectures given by leaders in the
creative industries – world-class fashion designers, editors, journalists,
stylists, photographers and creative directors, as well as those working
at the forefront of the fashion and style business – including CEOs and
marketing and PR directors of luxury goods houses, and others involved in
brand management and communication.
5
WHO SHOULD STUDY WITH US?
The Condé Nast College is committed to excellence in the training and
development of outstanding individuals. Entry is competitive and the
education programmes are rigorous. Applicants should have a passionate
interest in the fashion industry in the broadest sense; an interest in the
creative and technical aspects of fashion media, marketing and promotion,
and a keen awareness of current affairs and business. You may be straight
out of school or university, taking a gap year, or seeking a career in the
fashion, media or luxury brand industries. Or you may simply wish to fuel
your personal interest in fashion.
WHAT STUDENTS GAIN FROM STUDYING WITH US
Alumni of the Condé Nast College have a clear competitive advantage when
applying for jobs. Employers see evidence that College students have a very
real and informed understanding of how the fashion industry works, making
them an immediate asset in the workplace.
6
WHY OUR COLLEGE IS UNIQUE
• The Condé Nast College offers unrivalled industry links
and partnerships, and unique access to fashion insiders.
As a result, our students are presented with a significant
networking opportunity
• Our courses are based on practice, on real life – not just
theory. Through our programme of industry visits and
lively workshops, students have already had extensive
engagement with the working world before leaving the
College.
• Our intensive academic programmes mean that students
receive a minimum of 15 hours formal teaching each
week (comprised of lectures seminars and tutorials) plus
additional study time during which they will be expected
to complete a series of formally assessed projects.
• We offer a unique opportunity to start an exciting
career. While we cannot guarantee employment or
work experience at Condé Nast, multiple placements
have been offered to our most committed and talented
students and a number are also now employed full time
on our magazines. Above all, however, the College delivers
a clear, comprehensive and informed education about the
wider fashion and luxury industries, which students can
then apply to any chosen career path in these business
arenas.
The Condé Nast College of Fashion & Design
is an exciting and fresh addition to fashion education
in this country. Closely connected to Vogue, the
College is uniquely placed to give students a better
understanding of the workings of the fashion industry
in both its creative and business aspects
• The College also draws on Condé Nast’s own multidiscipline experts working on world famous brands
like Vogue, Love, GQ, Glamour and Tatler, again giving
students a unique insight into how the component parts
of the magazine business – in print and online – really
work.
• The College has outstanding facilities in the heart of
London’s Soho, created and newly constructed with the
ambition of the College and its students in mind.

HOW WE TEACH?
CNC Student Work • Owain Proctor, UK
The mission of the Condé Nast College is to equip students with the skills
and knowledge they need for either further study or a career in fashion.
Learning and teaching methods at the college are varied and designed
to encourage deeper learning of relevant theory and practical skills. The
teaching schedule includes industry talks, academic lectures, seminars,
tutorials and practical workshops. Seminars allow students to explore key
lecture themes and discuss prior reading and workshops facilitate the
attainment of practical skills such as creative thinking and problem solving,
team work, and presenting ideas in visual, verbal and written formats. The
College also uses project-based assessment, providing a framework for
students to develop their skills and knowledge while they complete a range
of industry relevant projects.
We were thrilled to discover the first year Condé Nast fashion
students’ curiosity, creativity and passion for fashion retail
when we partnered with them on our case study. The output
was simply outstanding and proving that Condé Nast has hit
the mark with this new institution
