A New Home For Mid*Week
Welcome to the 19th annual
Mid*Week Antiques Show and our
new home at The Everett Arena, in
Concord, N.H.
This year’s show will be extra special
on many levels, but most important are
the exceptional dealers and personal
friends who have exhibited in our show
through thick and thin — Wayfarer
Inn to Furniture World and now our
new and exciting home.
As varied as their inventory, antiques
dealers are a special breed. From the
selection of their booth paper color to
the placement of their track lighting,
antiques dealers are unique, interesting
and hardworking people, many of
which I am proud to call my “tribe.”
Over the past 19 years since
Mid*Week hit the antiques scene, a lot
has changed in our business.
Prices for rare and outstanding objects
have soared to stratospheric levels keeping us on the edge of our Windsor
chairs, while bringing a smile to the
faces of astute collectors whose own
collections rival or exceed the record
breakers. A good feeling to know your
instincts have paid off.
Yet there is still a great deal to be said
for the collector whose passion can be
fulfilled with just a simple hand
stitched needlework by a school girl of
9 years, a treasured pewter porringer or
a painted candle box in dry red paint.
It is these humble individuals who we
have to thank as much as the advanced
collectors that drive the antiques market to new and exciting heights.
Mid*Week Antiques Show welcoming committee.
Together they make up the wonderful
customers our Mid*Week Antiques
Show dealers look forward to seeing
every year in August.
Much to the delight of some
Mid*Week visitors, this year’s floor
plan will be simple and easy to flow
through as Lynn created a grid pattern
with cross aisles and straight rows quite
Refreshing new Mid*Week exhibitors will introduce style, elegance
and tasteful decorating ideas, all geared to keeping our show number one on your list.
different from the Furniture World
design, where I hear some collectors are
still roaming about.
As a wise man once said, “Change is
inevitable,” and so we change, grow
and challenge ourselves to do better.
That is what Mid*Week is all about.
This year’s show will present your
favorite exhibitors, once again offering
the best they can find and at prices that
reflect the changing tastes and definition of collecting. “Americana is still
King” at Mid*Week where you will
find exhibitors from all across the
country trekking east with loaded wagons and Sprinters, the new vehicle of
choice.
The Everett Arena will graciously
embrace our show in air-conditioned
comfort, surrounded by acres of convenient, free parking and bordered by
tree-lined paths and river views.
At this year’s Mid*Week show, one of
the operative words is “fun” which adds
immeasurably to the experience of
attending our show with fellow collectors and enjoying the environment and
camaraderie as well as the antiques.
A show café and onsite shipper added
to the amenities you have come to
expect from a Barn Star event and our
dedicated and friendly staff will look
forward to addressing your every need
while with us.
In closing, with several fine shows
during Antiques Week in New Hampshire to explore, we would like to leave
you with one message and that is
“Come Home To Mid*Week, The
Show That Started it All.” Our latch
string will be out.
This year’s Mid*Week Show is dedicated in the memory of our dear friend
and true student of antiques, Marv
Elliot.
Sincerely yours,
Frank Gaglio and Staff

What To Expect At Mid*Week This Year!
As Mid*Week celebrates its 19th year, exhibiting
dealers are motivated to step out of the box and
present a fresh view of period antiques and folk art
displayed in a fashion new and seasoned collectors
can appreciate.
Pick up any current decorating magazine and
you will see the combination of antiques and modern design filling the pages. Collecting Americana
has moved into the Twenty-First Century and at
Mid*Week, the trend is to stay ahead of the curve.
We invite you to look at our show with a
renewed vision of what your collection can be and
how subtle changes in placement, lighting and
background color can make a world of difference
and renewed enjoyment.
While exploring Mid*Week, take note of the
wallpaper colors our dealers are using from basic
white to bright forsythia; color and shade make a
difference in dramatic impact as well as traditional
and classic.
Get rid of the clutter and give important pieces
their own space whether it be a dazzling horse
weathervane in awesome green patina or a multicolored stained glass patterned quilt that gives a
room its unique character. You have a wonderful
collection so celebrate your good taste.
Our Mid*Week dealers are always ready to help
out with suggestions as to how to display and
enjoy your new purchases. Invite a dealer to visit
your home and view your collection. You would
be amazed at the friendship and knowledge they
would bring to that opportunity.

Pair of Corner Carvings.
These probably were
removed from a home, but
also could have been taken
from a community building or temple. Both sides
are beautifully carved. One
side has fish, meaning
abundance; the other
peaches, symbolizing
longevity. In other words,
these carvings suggest a
very long life filled with
all anyone could want.
Wood: unknown. Province:
Zhejiang. Dimensions: 12"
x 4" x 11".
Intricately Carved
Doors. I could look at
these doors forever. I
believe they are great.
The very top panels
are complementary in
design. The center tall
pierced carvings are
beautifully executed.
The center panels are
loaded with mythic
animals from the tortoise to the carp. The
bottom panels have a
“tombstone” carving
with enough simplicity to make the doors
less fussy than they
might have seemed
with the intensity of
the carving up above.
All in all, among my
very favorites. Wood:
unknown. Province:
Zhejiang. Dimensions:
87" x 19" x 3".
Camphor Window. This window's central
figure is a person riding a chilin. The chilin
is a mythical animal which symbolizes
abundant fertility. The smaller carvings are
wonderfully executed renderings of animals and birds (both real and mythical),
fish, and auspicious plants or flowers.
Wood: camphor. Province: Jianxi.
Dimensions: 14" x 1" x 27".
