Honda congratulates the Honda Campus All-Star Challenge Class of 2010. The hard work and preparation is evident in the performance of all of the teams. Since 1989, Honda has joined with America’s Historically Black Colleges and Universities and Honda Campus all-Star Challenge became a yearly gathering of the nation’s best and brightest. The core idea of creating long-lasting friendships and spirit of competition has never changed, and the success of the program continues to be driven by the efforts of the students, volunteers and coaches. The collective efforts of the entire HCASC family demonstrate our belief in the program. The pages of this yearbook provide snapshots of the National Championship Tournament. It is hoped that the pictures spark memories of the many experiences you shared with friends, old and new. Enjoy the memento and please accept Honda’s wishes for continued success in the near future and beyond. The program starts in the fall at dozens of institutions across the country. An on-campus tournament is followed by weekly practices and study sessions. Later, schools prepare for the national championship by attending up to two intramural tournaments. Every spring, students, coaches, campus coordinators, volunteers, HBCU presidents, the Association of College Unions International, and the National Association for Equal Opportunity in Higher Education gather come together to witness the Mississippi Valley State (left) is pictured with National Champions Prairie View A&M (right) following their first-ever victory. HCASC is the first and only academic competition of its kind... top institutions compete for the title of National Champion. Over the past 21 years, more than 50,000 HBCU students have participated in the Honda Campus All-Star Challenge, and Honda has committed millions of dollars in grants and support to the program. These grants have enhanced student programs and the students’ college experience. HCASC alumni have gone on to pursue careers in science, medicine, aeronautics, industry and government. Many graduates are still active in HCASC through campus activities and team training. Today, HCASC remains the first and only academic competition of its kind, and its alumni continue to contribute to their alma maters and their communities. 2010 HCASC BY THE NUMBERS Round Robin Divisions...................................... 8 HBCU Presidents attending............................. 12 Rounds played................................................ 24 Height of Championship Trophy (in inches).... 41 HBCUs at the NCT........................................... 48 Eligible Universities Enrolled in 2010.............. 80 The event is a favorite of HBCU Presidents NCT Participants........................................... 426 Questions answered.................................. 6,142 Points Earned........................................... 57,585 Memorable moments............................ 180,200! 3 6000+ questions?
