Our Strength:
Art at Large Inc. is a full service art consulting and production company specializing
in commissioned art, graphic design, aesthetic and branding concepts, and
environmental design and is owned and operated by Sally Wern Comport, an
internationally renowned artist and designer. Our strength is our ability to find
beautiful visual solutions in design, concept, and materials for physical spaces,
print/electronic media, presentation graphics, branding and design guides so that
we can help show off our client’s strengths. We listen carefully to our client’s vision,
mission, and process to understand from the initial research and thought gathering
for concept stage to the final nuts and bolts of installation(literally), print, launch, or
implementation . We have partnerships with people who are strong where we are
less so, to produce visuals that resonate in a way that represent the heart of our
client’s work.
Our Process:
1 Gather information:
Through direct communication with the principals and those served; by an inperson consultation, phone interviews, and email, Art at Large Inc. will gather
information from our client about our client. Through our own independent
research with cues and materials (.i.e. written strategies, capabilities literature,
surveys, and testimonials)) from our client, we research and study the methods of
our client as well as product. We research and gain understanding of our client’s
competitors and challenges. By gathering the most information up front, we are
more clearly equipped to develop a concept for the visual solutions needed in the
initial phases of development.
2 Proposal:
A formal written proposal is presented to include a detailed description, scheduling
mileposts, fee schedule, and a detailed plan for application. Upon acceptance by
signature of the proposal we are ready for the next stage.
3 Conceptual; Thought plus Magic:
A number of concepts will be developed(magic) in comprehensive visual “roughs”
and presented for consideration and discussion to the stakeholders identified by
our client. The process is a dialogue that can be as interactive as our client desires
and can involve several stages of presentation and refinement to varying levels of
those interacting with the final product.
4 Refinement
With feedback, refinements are made to the imagery with as much involvement as
our client wishes in preparation for final approval and then production.
5 Review
The dialogue continues even after implementation for review and revising to best
serve the needs of our client going forward .

I truly thought my life was done, but not so – about a hundred
years after I was first filled with pickles, I was picked up and
hauled in a truck to a small carpentry shop. This time my
destiny was to become a bench. But not just any bench – no
indeed! But rather one lovingly created by my craftsman and
an architect, of all things! I was intended to retain the natural
roundness of the barrel I had been so long. Even the staves
came along; they were fashioned into legs.
So here I am, in this beautiful place. Serene, isn’t it? A place
in which to dream, to meditate, to recover from stress and
trauma, a place in which to reconnect. Lean back, Stranger,
and rest. In me is the strength of half a millennium; permit
me to share it with you. But in me too is peace and tranquility.
Do not leave me until that strength and peace comes to you.
And when you do leave me, don’t stay away long.
I’ll be here, waiting for you – in this sacred place.
