The operator should read the Instructions prior to use.
1. Preparation for Removal
• Close ON/OFF clamp or place hemostat on tubing per facility’s procedure.
• Remove all tape except for last piece securing the wings.
• Apply double finger pressure once
needle point has exited venipuncture
site. 2. Positioning MasterGuard
FingerShield
Lower Jaw
• Slide MasterGuard forward with FingerShield® anchor pointing up.
• Remove last piece of tape. • Pull the Apheresis needle back slightly to expose the venipuncture site.
• Place hemostasis dressing over venipuncture site and gently hold in place.
3. Easy Steps for Safer Removal
• Move MasterGuard forward until lower jaw is just past wings but not touching venipuncture site.
• Place index finger on FingerShield and middle finger on dressing with minimal pressure.
• Grasp tubing directly behind
MasterGuard and pull smoothly
and continuously until wings are secured with audible or tactile “click.”
• Continue to apply double finger pressure on dressing and FingerShield.
• Pull tubing until flexible FingerShield
slides from under index finger.
• Maintain double finger pressure as FingerShield is released.
