Camp Information
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
1. REGISTER EARLY
4. FIELD TRIPS
This helps us prepare for the programs by doing, advance
program planning, hiring and ordering of materials. Early
bird discounts are offered for most camps. Register on line
at www.hudson.k12.oh.us/hcer and click on the Ways to
Register.
Some field trips are an integral part of the camp program
while others will require a small fee. Separate field trip
permission slips are not necessarily distributed prior to
each trip, however additional information usually is. If
you object to your child’s participation in any or all trips,
please inform your child’s camp director in advance of the
trip(s) and in a timely fashion.
2. REGISTRATION FORM
Once you have decided which activity you would like to
enroll your child, you will need to completely fill out the
registration form on the last page of the book or register
on-line at www.hudson.edu/hcer. Note: Register your child
for the class they will be attending/going into the summer.

5. PEANUT SENSITIVITY POLICY
Please be aware that our camps are nut sensitive. We ask
that you do not send any nut products with your child.
6. CAMP EQUIPMENT
Since camp groups and the decision to employ and train
staff is based on enrollment, camp fees are nonrefundable
after June 1. In the event of illness or injury, a refund
minus a $25 processing fee will be processed only upon
receipt of a written report from a physician. For all other
programs there is a $35 refund processing fee except for
refunds due to health issues or class cancellations. No
exceptions.
ENVIRONMENTAL
CONDITIONS
Always come over prepared! Send water, snack, sunscreen
and extra clothing (if you feel that is needed). Please send
a hat with a brim along with any other item you believe is
needed for your child to enjoy their summer experience.
Be prepared.
7.LUNCH
Campers should plan on bringing their own lunch unless
otherwise noted. Be sure to include the campers name on
the bag or carrier.

Please remember to always send your child with water,
sunscreen, a hat, perhaps a lunch and snack, a change
of clothes (depending upon the camp) and any other
items you might feel would benefit your child.
Parents, Thank you for signing up your child(ren) for one of our wonderful
camps or programs. We kindly remind you, please pick up your child(ren)
directly after the program. If your child is left without parental supervision,
we will take your child to our Camp Care (if available) located at East Woods
School. You will be invoiced for the time your child spends in the program.

HUDSON DAY CAMPS WITH CHILD CARE
Hudson school campus is home to many full day camping opportunities for children in kindergarten
through sixth grade. If you are in need of before or after camp child care please look for the Child Care
frog logo on specific programs as you leaf through the summer brochure. HCER offers child care services
throughout the summer months. Please confirm your needs through HCER prior to confirming your
plans.
Explorer Zone Camp Care
Child care is available from June 8th through August 7th. Explorer Zone Camp Care is located at East Woods School
Blue Gym unless otherwise noted. And is staffed by our HCER team members.
Before Camp time: 7:00 to 9:30 a.m.
$49 per week for a.m. care, or $17 per day
After Camp time: 3:00 to 6:00 p.m.
$59 per week for p.m. care, or $19 per day
PLEASE NOTE:
No camp care July 3rd and the week of
August 10th until the start of school.
Please note: We understand that everyone is busy these days, however if you are late in picking up your camper
after 6:00 PM there is a $2/minute late fee. Thank you for not being late.
All camps on the Main Campus of the Hudson City School District have access to Explorer Zone Camp Care, during the

Safety Town has been part of the lives of
Hudson youth for over 50 years. We teach and
introduce valuable safety methods to children
entering Kindergarten. Please register early
as space is limited. Children will be taught the
proper way to cross a street, safe places to play,
stranger danger, how and why to use safety
belts, bus procedures, safe uses of playground
equipment and much more. This programs is
a must for children entering Kindergarten in

Hudson Equestrian Center has created a unique
program for your young child. Our program aids
children in developing a fun filled understanding
and love of the horses. An introduction to riding
and horsemanship in a lesson tailored to their
ability, comfort level and attention span. Parents
are required to remain during the session.

This camp will focus on teaching your kids the
basic fundamentals of volleyball. How to pass,
set, take a correct approach jump, hit, serve,
and even correct blocking footwork and LOTS
OF FUN! Take advantage of this opportunity
for your child to receive elite instruction from
Coach Ciborek and her highly successful staff
and varsity players. Each munchkin will receive
a camp certificate of completion, camp T-shirt,
and goodie bag which includes a copy of the
2015 Varsity Volleyball Schedule. Hope to see

This camp introduces your son or daughter to
many great sports and activity programs. We
concentrate on the fun of sports to engage
and enrich your child’s life. While using sports
and activities as a backdrop, we engage your
child in sportsmanship, how to play, teamwork,
always trying your best, and being happy. We
encourage your child to be him/herself. While
incorporating this philosophy, we offer lessons
of encouragement to your camper. Learning
from an early age about the value sports and
activities brings, engages and enriches the lives
of all campers. A T-shirt is given to every camper.

Invite your best friends and neighbors
for a fun play date where we dance, act
and sing to a daily fairytale wonderland
theme. Have fun learning puppet theatre
skits, dance routines and crafts - including
pre-lyrical ballet, creative movement & hip
hop. Dress in comfortable summer play

Children ages 3-6 will have a fun and
meaningful week full of sports, learning, and
new friendships at the Hudson Junior Olympics
Sports Camp! The camp features a different
sport each day, enabling these young campers
to learn about a variety of sports and to apply
what they’ve learned by playing fun, low-key
games. The children will also choose a country
to represent during the Olympic Games and
will make a flag to carry for the “Presentation
of Medals”. They will also learn fun facts about
the culture, demographics, and customs of
their chosen country. Parents are invited to
come to the “Closing Ceremonies” held on the
last day of camp.

their choice and have a blast learning about
and playing a variety of sports at the Hudson
“College Days Junior Sports Camp”! Much like
the Junior Olympics Sports Camp, the “College
Days” camp features a different sport each day,
enabling these young campers to learn about
a variety of sports and to apply what they’ve
learned by playing fun, low-key games. The
children will also learn fun facts about their
chosen college, and will make school T-shirts to
wear at “Graduation”. Parents are invited to
come to attend the “Graduation” held on the
last day of camp.

A fun and highly instructional, introduction
to baseball for 3 – 5 year old boys and girls.
Players learn the basics of throwing, catching,
fielding, batting, and base running, and then
apply what they have learned in fun, noncompetitive games. Jump Start Sports staff
members conduct the instruction and oversee
the game play while volunteer team coaches
assist. Includes a team T-shirt and MLB hat.

Parents can choose between Fridays or
Saturdays. All games will be scheduled on
their preferred day.
Children ages 3 – 6 years olds have fun and
learn the basics of soccer: dribbling, passing,
trapping, shooting, and positioning. Each
session consists of instruction in each aspect
of the game, participation in fun drills that
are designed to teach skills, and low-key,
non-competitive game. All coaching will be
conducted by Jump Start Sports staff. The
children will be separated into two “leagues”,
(3 and 4 year olds; and 5 and 6 year olds).
Children are required to wear shin guards.
Non Metal cleats are optional. Soccer balls are
provided but children may bring their own ball
(#3 size ball with their last name written on the

The Hudson Sports Camp is NEW AND IMPROVED! As always, the camp will be highly structured with weekly themes implemented in the
morning, fun afternoon electives, and occasional field trips, but we have ramped everything up a notch to make it more fun and productive!

JUNE 8 – 12: SPORTS CAMP KICKOFF
SPECTACULAR: Have a blast with your
friends playing your favorite camp games
and activities! This includes Capture the
Flag, Tag Games, Relay Races, Dodge Ball,
Whiffle Ball, Kickball, and more. Each day
we’ll have a tournament in one of these fun
camp games and play traditional sports too!

JUNE 29 – JULY 2: STICKS AND STONES
CAMP: We’ll have some fun with all of
your favorite stick sports! Campers play
lacrosse, hockey, whiffle ball, baseball, golf,
and more. We’ll have fun tournaments
every day, and the week will culminate with
a trip to Cuyahoga Valley National Park on
Thursday, July 2. Campers who want to golf
will play a round at Brandywine Par 3 Golf
Course!

JUNE 15 -19: SPORTS AROUND THE
WORLD: Have a blast playing and learning
about sports played all over the world!
Sports will include Rugby, Team Handball,
Cricket, World Cup Soccer, floor hockey,
tennis, and cricket. Field trip on Friday, June
19 to ZIP CITY!

JULY 6-10: ULTIMATE WARRIOR CAMP:
Join us at the Ultimate Warrior Camp
for fitness, fun and “Survivor” type
team challenges! Age-appropriate and
safe activities specifically designed to
challenge, inspire, and excite. Games and
tasks this week include obstacle courses,
relays, tug-of-war, and many other fun
activities designed to teach cooperation
and teamwork while also developing
self-esteem. To keep the emphasis on fun,
teamwork, and sportsmanship, we’ll also
have balloon races, egg tosses, team puzzle
challenges, and funny games. Field trip on
Friday, July 10 to Fun N Stuff!

JUNE 22 – 26: HOOP IT UP BASKETBALL
AND CHEERLEADING CAMP: Basketball
players learn all basic fundamentals
and play in fun individual and team
competitions, culminating in a “March
Madness in June” 3 on 3 Basketball
Tournament!”. Cheerleaders learn a wide
variety of cheers, movements, and dance
routines and showcase their talents at a fun
recital on Thursday, June 25. Field trip on
Friday, June 26 to Water Works Water Park!

JULY 13 - 17: FUN WITH FRISBEE:
Campers have a blast learning some fun
new Frisbee games, including Frisbee
Golf, Ultimate Frisbee, Goaltimate, Frisbee
Baseball, and Frisbee Football (no tackling,
of course). These games are fun, very
active, and provide a great activity to teach
cooperation and sportsmanship. Field trip
on Friday, July 17 to ZIP CITY!

AFTERNOON ELECTIVES
As in years past, campers will choose from a wide variety of electives in
the afternoon including swimming, horseback riding, fishing, walks to the
Green, bike trips for experienced riders, Learn to Ride for younger riders
on training wheels, gym games like Dodge Ball and Knock Out Basketball,
field games like lacrosse and soccer, and much, much more!
STAFFING
Jump Start Sports staffs the Hudson Sports Camp at a maximum ratio
of 8 campers to each staff member. Directors and counselors are very
experienced and dedicated to making your child’s summer safe and special.

JULY 20 – 24: FOOTBALL FUN AND
CHEERLEADING CAMP: Football players
will enter the ‘Hudson NFL Draft” and play
for their favorite NFL team! All aspects of
passing offense and passing defense will
be taught, and we will play games every
day. Cheerleaders learn a wide variety of
cheers, movements, and dance routines and
showcase their talents at a fun recital on
Thursday, July 23. Field trip on Friday, July
24 to the NFL Hall of Fame!

JULY 27 – 31: OLYMPIC SPORTS CAMP:
The Olympics are back at Sports Camp!
This year, however, we will only have one
day of track and field and will spend the
rest of the week playing other sports we
love, including soccer, basketball, hockey,
team handball, and fast football. Campers
learn about the culture and history of
their adopted country and make a flag
to carry at the “Closing Ceremonies” and
“Presentation of Medals” on Thursday, July
30. Field Trip to Water Works Water Park on
Friday, July 31.

High energy, fun activities, with focus on the camper! Your camper will enjoy this non-competitive focused camp. Blue Streak All Sports
and Activity Camp bring their 20+ years of offering enriching and engaging camps to your child. We focus on you the camper and how best
to work with you to achieve your interests and fun. Our day is divided into approximately six time periods. During the time periods we
will typically offer between 14 – 17 sports and activities. Many of the activities we offer are listed below. With the focus on sportsmanship,
engagement, fun and enjoyment, our experienced counselors and junior counselor keep your child involved from beginning to end. We
maintain an overall ratio of seven campers to each counselor. Come for the friendship, activities, fun and great camp experience. We will
work with all campers on fair-play, skill improvement, fun and not winning or losing. The goal is for each camper to feel success. Local field
trips within walking distance will take place weekly. The campers will be able to explore and engage on these trips. They will always be
accompanied by our counselors. Base Camp is East Woods School. Your camper will be grouped with children of the same age. Our camp
counselors are enthusiastic and look forward to welcoming you and your camper each and every day!
Items to bring: Please bring a lunch daily. On Friday’s the campers can participate in pizza day, for an extra fee. Snacks and drinks are also
available for an additional fee.

Learn the basic tool application and techniques
required to develop the proper skill set to
create your very own custom pen on a wood
lathe. You will work on your own mini lathe
where you will learn the tools, techniques and
safety procedures required to create custom
lathe projects. You will get to observe the
instructor turn a pen on a lathe, then receive
opportunities to practice the same skills before
turning your own pen. Each participant will
design/sketch their own pen design before
creating their masterpiece on the lathe. Many
species of wood will be available to choose

friends old and new at the Hudson Community Youth Chorus Choral Camp. This is great
opportunity for kids who want to get started
with great techniques as well as those who
want to improve and refine their skills. Singers
learn and improve sight singing, musicianship
through movement, music theory and playing
Orff instruments. This special week is co-directed by Eve Sliwinski, founding director of the
Hudson Community Youth Chorus and Nathaniel Duvuvuei, director of choral and vocal music

application process to help the staff
determine the best group for your child
prior to entering the camp. These forms are

with your registration. This comprehensive
camp will offer campers the opportunity
to experience a String Orchestra, Music
Theory, Chamber Music ensembles, Music
Electives (Garageband, Recorder, Piano or
Choir), Counselor Recitals and a Summative
Performance. This will be the experience of
the summer for the String Music Performer!

Mindcraft is a game about placing blocks to
build anything you can imagine. At night
monsters come out, make sure to build a

This is a great program for self-esteem,

situations in a controlled fashion. Each day,
practical skills will be developed. From one
match fires to plant identifications and
shelter building. The week will conclude
with an overnight campout at Hudson

Have a blast learning the basics of football.
Players are grouped by age, coached at their
level of understanding, and play fun, low
competition games under adult supervision.
All instruction will be conducted by Jump
Start Sports staff coaches. Players will learn
the basic fundamentals of offense and
defense, and will be introduced to speed
and agility training. Parent coaches can assist
in the instruction and will call the plays for
their teams, but having our coaches lead the
program will ensure that all teams receive
the same instruction in a planned and
organized practice. Jump Start Sports staff
will also officiate and supervise all games

IN CONSIDERATION of the Registrant (for purposes of this Agreement, “Registrant” shall be defined as the Participant, if over 18 years of age, or Registrant’s Parent or Guardian, on Registrant’s behalf, if under 18 years of age) being permitted to utilize the facilities, services, and programs of the Hudson Community Education and Recreation (“HCER”) for any
purpose, including, but not limited to observation or use of facilities or equipment, or participation in any on-site or off-site program affiliated with HCER, the Registrant agrees, represents,
acknowledges, and understands as follows:
The Registrant is in good health and can participate in all activities. List any special considerations or health problems (medications, allergies, etc.). Specify which child if registering more than one child.__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
The Registrant agrees to release the Hudson City School District Board of Education, Hudson Community Education and Recreation, its officers, agents, members, and employees
(collectively referred to as the “Board”), in their official and individual capacities, from any and all claims, liability, or demands for damages against the Board for any expense, monetary
damage, property damage, personal injury, sickness, illness of any nature whatsoever (including physical or emotional), or death, which may be sustained or incurred by the Registrant in
connection with his/her participation, including as a result of any negligent or reckless acts or omissions of the Board, or any negligent, reckless, willful, or intentional acts or omissions of
any other individual.
The Registrant assumes all risk of expense, monetary damage, property damage, personal injury, sickness, illness of any nature whatsoever (including physical or emotional), or
death, as a result of the Registrant’s participation in the listed program. The Registrant further agrees to defend, hold harmless, and indemnify the Board for any liability sustained by the
Board as a result of the negligent, reckless, willful, or intentional acts or omissions of the Registrant.
The Registrant acknowledges that the Board does not provide insurance for participants. The Registrant further acknowledges that he/she have insurance coverage to participate in the program listed. The Registrant hereby certifies that he/she has valid health insurance coverage. The Registrant will promptly notify the Board and will immediately cease any
further participation in the listed program if he/she is no longer covered by valid health insurance. The Registrant agrees to defend, hold harmless, and indemnify the Board for any liability
sustained by the Board as a result of the Registrant’s participation in any listed program while he/she is not covered by valid health insurance.
The Registrant understands that the Board may not have medical personnel available at the HCER or the location of any off-site activity. The Registrant agrees that the Board
is granted permission to authorize emergency medical treatment for him/her, if necessary, and that such action shall be subject to the terms of this Agreement. For Registrants under the
age of 18 years, in the event that reasonable attempts to reach a parent or guardian at the phone number provided are unsuccessful or not practical under the circumstances, the Registrant
hereby gives consent for the administration of any and all emergency treatment deemed necessary, and for the transfer of the Registrant to the nearest appropriate hospital or emergency
facility. The Registrant understands and agrees that the Board assumes no responsibility for any injury or damage which might arise out of or in connection with such authorized emergency
medical treatment. The Registrant further understands and agrees that the Board will not be held responsible for the results of such emergency treatment. The Registrant hereby releases
the Board, in their official and individual capacities, from any and all claims, liability, or demands for damages against the Board for any expense, monetary damage, property damage,
personal injury, sickness, illness of any nature whatsoever (including physical or emotional), or death, which may be sustained or incurred by the Registrant as a result of any emergency
medical treatment. The Registrant agrees to defend, hold harmless, and indemnify the Board for any liability sustained by the Board as a result of the negligent, willful, or intentional acts
or omissions of any individual administering emergency medical treatment to the Registrant.
It is the Registrant’s express intent that, to the fullest extent allowed by law, this Waiver and Release: (1) shall bind the Registrant and the members of his/her family, if the
Registrant is alive; and the Registrant and his/her family, estate, heirs, administrators, personal representatives, or assigns, if the Registrant is deceased; (2) shall be construed as a release
and waiver of any and all claims against the Board by any person in their individual or representative capacities arising out of or related in any way to the Registrant’s participation in the
listed programs; and (3) shall be construed as an agreement to defend, hold harmless, and indemnify the Board for any and all claims, demands, and liabilities, arising out of or related in
any way to the Registrant’s participation in the listed programs.
The Registrant agrees that this Waiver and Release shall be construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Ohio. If any term or provision of this Waiver and Release
shall be held illegal, unenforceable, or in conflict with any law governing this Waiver and Release, the validity of the remaining portions shall not be affected and shall remain valid and
enforceable

PROGRAM SIZE
Payment in full is due at the time of registration. When registering
in person, you may use a check, or Visa/Mastercard. Unless otherwise
stated, class fees do not include materials or books if required.
REMEMBER: a $30 cash fee will be charged for all checks returned
for insufficient funds. PLEASE NOTE: Programs are supported by
user fees, NOT tax dollars.
All programs contain specific size limitations as space is limited.
Please confirm space is available, online or calling our office, when
registering for a program, as we do not guarantee space is available.
If the program is filled and you show up for a program expecting to
participate in that program you may be asked to leave. Thank you
for your understanding.
CANCELLATIONS
DATES, TIMES, DISCLAIMER
Get the latest updates on www.hudson.k12.oh.us/hcer. When the
Hudson City Schools are not in session or are dismissed early due to
inclement weather, or public calamity, all daytime, afternoon and /
or evening HCER classes will not be held regardless of any changes.
Missed classes due to the aforementioned, or other “Acts of God”
CANNOT be guaranteed a makeup session or pro-rated refund/
credit. If the class for which you are enrolled is changed or canceled,
you will be notified by phone and or email. All posted on our
website. If you do not hear from us, attend the class as scheduled in
this brochure.
Although we make every effort to follow the schedule outlined in
this brochure, class times, dates and programs are subject to change
without notice after publication, do to unforeseen circumstances.
We will do our best to contact registered participants, but it is the
participant’s responsibility to stay up to date with changes via the
website, www.hudson.k12.oh.us/hcer or by contacting the HCER
office, prior to the date of the program.
The content within
the courses in the Hudson Community Education and Recreation
Activities Guides and programs are meant for the sole purpose of selfeducation, personal development, enjoyment and entertainment.
They do not reflect views, positions, personal, professional, or
otherwise of the Hudson City School District, its Board of Education
or employees. Enjoy your program.
QUALITY ASSURANCE
Except for one-session programs, if a youth or adult education
class does not meet your expectations, you will be given a prorated refund/credit after the conclusion of the first class meeting.
REFUND POLICY
Refunds are available for classes and activities (unless otherwise
specified) provided HCER is notified within 2 business days prior to
the start of the class or activity since decisions to run a class are based
on initial enrollment numbers.
Refunds issued are on a case by case basis. Should a refund be
issued, it will be returned in the form it was first submitted, minus
any processing fees.
In house credits must be used within a one year time frame from the
time they were issued.
Should you choose to take an in-house credit, we will be unable to
issue a refund in any other form.
Participants assume the risk of changes in personal affairs, schedules
or health when signing up for a class/program.
There is a $10 refund processing fee for each class, except for
those cancelled by HCER. In the event of illness or injury, a refund
or proration will be issued with a doctor’s note. A $25 refund
processing fee will be charged for withdrawing after a class has
begun. The participant will be charged for the class he/she attended
as well as the $25 fee.
No refunds for materials purchased. Allow 3-4 weeks for credit card
refunds and 8-12 weeks for check refunds.
GENERAL
All participants must sign a registration form either electronically
(online registration) or in hard copy before participating in any
HCER program.
SPECIAL NEEDS POLICY
HCER offers a variety of group activities for those with special needs,
and also makes reasonable accommodations in other programs
upon request. Staff members are sensitive to your needs and will
do everything possible to assist you in the best possible placement.
Please notify HCER at least ten days in advance if any reasonable
accommodations are needed in order to make your participation
possible. Most facilities are accessible to the disabled individual. If
you are interested in participating in a program, but you’re not sure
about the accessibility of a facility, please call HCER and ask us about
specifics. In accordance with provisions of the Title II of the Americans
with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act
of 1973 (Section 504), no qualified individual with a disability shall,
on the basis of such a disability, be subjected to discrimination or
be excluded from participation in, or denied the benefits of the
services, programs, activities or physical facilities which are provided
to the public.
VIDEO, PHOTOGRAPH, & E-MAIL POLICY
HCER may take pictures of participants in our programs. We may use
these photos in our brochure, website or other media publications.
By your registration, you grant us permission to use these photos
for publicity purposes only. By registration you grant us permission
to e-mail you information about HCER programs, news and events.
Have a great photo from one of our programs? Email it to Michele
Collins at collinsm@hudson.edu, and we may use it on our website or
in one of our upcoming brochures!
HCER is not responsible for any lost, stolen or misplaced items before, during or after the programs.
HERE’S HOW WE GET THE CHILDREN FROM HERE TO THERE
Transfer Procedures: Please go over this procedure with your child, as it
is very important to ensure the safety of all the children.
HCER counselors with Explorer Zone Camp Care and specific camp counselors escort students attending HCER summer camp
programs to and from there location on the Hudson City School District campus. These transfers take place in the morning and
afternoon. If your child is registered for Explorer Zone Camp Care, your child will be based in the morning and afternoon at
East Woods School. If your child is registered and does not attend Explorer Zone Camp Care that day, you are to call 330-6531210 or 330-592-6650 or email explorerzone@hudson.edu to confirm your child’s plans. The hours for Explorer Zone Camp Care:
Morning 7:00 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. (approximately) and Afternoon 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Please see page 3 for more details about
Explorer Zone Camp Care.
