LOCATION
The Boyne Valley hotel and Country Club is located on the
Dublin Road just south of Drogheda Town Centre, amongst
some of Drogheda’s most desirable residential
neighbourhoods. Very accessible to the recently completed
M1 Motorway, the hotel is now within 1 hour of Belfast City
and only 25 minutes from Dublin’s International Airport.
The opening of the Dublin Port Tunnel has made Dublin
even easier to get to from Drogheda and the city centre
can now be reached within 45 minutes.
Drogheda is one of Ireland’s fastest growing towns with a
current population of 36,000 which is set to increase to
60,000 by 2016 and the population of the Drogheda
environs area is expected to reach 90,000 by 2024.
Drogheda is currently experiencing enormous residential
and commercial development with several new shopping
centres, retail and business parks opened in the last
couple of years. The recently adopted local Development
Plan envisages up to 7,000 new homes over the next 15
years with over 2,500 of these earmarked for the
Bryanstown area – adjacent to the hotel.
There are some renowned tourist attractions in the area –
easily reached from the hotel, the most notable of which
are Newgrange, Knowth and the Battle of the Boyne site.
The region boasts numerous blue flag beaches and some
of Ireland’s best championship links golf courses such as
Baltray, Seapoint, Laytown and Bettystown.
While Drogheda is growing rapidly as a commuter town for
Dublin, there are a growing number of large local
employers in the area including Boyne Valley Foods, Irish
Cement, IFF and Becton Dickenson. The recent
Government announcement of a new €210m sea port at
nearby Bremore will encourage further commercial
development and create many more local employment
opportunities to the area.
