Vision Asymmetrical Spinnakers 0 5 V Close Reaching Asymmetrical 3 V V All-Purpose Reaching Asymmetrical THE VISION SPINNAKER. V Just like our technology... It’s always out front. VISION spinnakers were born from the belief that cruising sailors need specialized sails that take full advantage of the most sophisticated technology, engineering excellence, and the highest levels of manufacturing quality. VISION spinnakers are not stripped down versions of their racing brethren. Vision spinnakers are designed for the unique requirements of the cruising sailor. They offer unmatched levels of control, stability, reliability, and versatility. VISION spinnakers are a product of one of the leading programs for the development of offwind sails. Development utilizes the unique resource of Quantum’s wind tunnel testing project, one of the most sophisticated of its kind in the world, and the talents of the Quantum design team, a collaborative effort of designers, consultants, technologists, and manufacturing experts from industry and academia. What started as a simple, multipurpose asymmetrical spinnaker design many years ago, has been transformed into a sophisticated powerhouse, offering unimaginable levels of performance in an elegant, easy to control package... Quantum introduces the VISION Series of asymmetrical spinnakers designed specifically for the cruising sailor, a selection of three sails capable of meeting every need and exceeding every dream of sailor’s who love to sail. 0 V All-Purpose Running Asymmetrical Close Reaching Asymmetrical 40 - 120 Apparent Wind Angle 5 V All-Purpose Reaching Asymmetrical 60 - 140 Apparent Wind Angle 3 V All-Purpose Running Asymmetrical 60 - 140 Apparent Wind Angle THE ANATOMY OF A VISION ASYMMETRICAL SPINNAKER 0 V 5 V 3 V Close Reaching Asymmetrical 40 - 120 Apparent Wind Angle 0 Designed for light to moderate air close reaching, the V offers light wind performance at angles closer to the wind than ever thought possible on a cruising boat. Derived from the famous “Code Zero” sails developed for VO 60’s and other racing boats, and adapted to the special design criteria of the modern cruising sailor, they are 40% larger than a typical furling genoa, 70% of the size of a maximum area spinnaker. While dramatically enhancing light air 0 performance, the V allows the primary roller furling genoa design to be a true workhorse; smaller, stronger, and easier to handle, making it more useful in the heart of typical cruising conditions. It provides the perfect solution for the offshore passage maker who doesn’t want to be saddled with a big genoa and the need to change sails in windy conditions. 0 The V can be set on it’s own furling system for the ultimate ease in handling. 5 Perhaps the most versatile asymmetrical, the V comes as close as possible to being the perfect all-purpose offwind sail. Smaller and even easier to handle 3 than a full sized V , it provides un-matched reaching performance with good downwind speed. With typical girths of 90% or less, it design is geared towards tighter wind angles than traditional cruising spinnakers. It takes full advantage of the structural advances and three dimensional shaping 5 characteristics of the modern asymmetrical. The V can be carried well inside a beam reach, even in moderate wind conditions. 5 At the same time, the V projects enough area to weather to deliver all-around broad reaching speed. It is the perfect size for the short-handed crew, and is All-Purpose Reaching Asymmetrical particularly well adapted to today' more easily driven hull forms and lighter 60 - 140 Apparent Wind Angle displacement. With it's strength, specialized shaping, and moderate size, the All-Purpose Running Asymmetrical 60 - 140 Apparent Wind Angle 5 V can be comfortably used in breezy conditions as well. 3 3 The V is a full size reaching and all purpose asymmetrical. Design makes the V ideal for broad reaching angles, projecting the maximum amount of area to 3 weather of the centerline when eased. The V is extremely stable, with a forgiving entry which makes it very easy to trim, performing well across a wide range of trim settings. It's race derived full tri-radial layout, with Spectra luff rope and glued, tear drop corner reinforcement system, make it strong, reliable, and 3 extremely versatile. Like all Vision cruising asymmetrical, the V is capable of reaching at wind angles no ordinary cruising spinnaker can. It is perfect for heavier displacement boats and provides turbo performance for all others. OPTIONS TO CONSIDER A Spinnaker Dousing sleeve such as the ATNTM pictured here greatly simplifies sail handling. Easier sail handling means more enjoyable sailing especially when short handed. Quantum offers spinnaker dousing sleeves with all Vision Spinnakers Spinnaker graphics allows the boat owner to personalize the sail beyond just the color design. Digital artwork is created and reproduced on the sail as an In-lay or an Inked-on graphic. Spinnaker graphics are a custom feature and need to be discussed with your Quantum representative for details and pricing.
