From the Family
Easter is almost here. It's another great
time to get together with family and
have the kids and grandkids over for
Easter dinner. When I think of Easter,
I think about when I was younger. My
family would go over to my Grandma's
(Alison's Mom, Betty) house on the
Saturday before Easter. My grandma
would dress up as the Easter bunny and
hand out those plastic Easter eggs filled
with candy to all her grandkids (She
had a LOT). She'd make homemade ice
cream as well. It was the best!
great man that did many things in his
life. I'm proud to call him my Grandpa
and that I was able to be so close to him
as I grew up.
Anyway, when I think of Easter, I think
of going to my Grandma's house and
finding all the Easter eggs. But Easter
is about family, relationships, and our
Savior Jesus Christ.
I hope many of you have some great
Easter memories like me. If you don't,
have a wonderful Easter and make them
this year!
My Grandma is now in the late stages of
Alzheimer's and doesn't recognize most
people or speak at all, but I remember the
person she was and what a wonderful
person she is. Her late husband was a

I live in an area with long, hot Summers so we savor the
cooler, just-right temperatures of the short Spring and Fall
seasons. One Spring, when my daughters were small, we
were enjoying a rare walk in our downtown area and I
pointed out the bright new flowers that were cropping up in
the flower beds along the sidewalks. I mentioned, "God must
really love us to give us such pretty flowers." For the rest of
that season, nearly every time we passed Spring flowers, one
of my daughters would point out, "Look Mom, it's 'God-lovesus-flowers!" The memory makes me smile.
I love Spring's reminder of rebirth. This month we're bringing

• 1/3 cup water
• 1 package (8 oz.) cream cheese, softened and cubed
• 1 can (10 3/4 oz.) condensed cream of chicken soup,
undiluted
• 1 can (4 oz.) mushroom stems and pieces, drained
• Hot cooked rice or noodles
Place the chicken breast halves in a Vegalene sprayed
slow cooker. Combine salad dressing mix and water;
pour over chicken. Cover and cook on low for 3 hours.
In a small mixing bowl, whisk together cream cheese
and soup until blended. Stir in mushrooms. Pour
cream cheese mixture over chicken. Cook 1 to 3 hours
longer or until chicken juices run clear. Serve chicken
and sauce with rice or hot cooked noodles.
