IN A STORIED DESTINATION
Historic inn, cottages, lodges, townhouses
Property Overview
Boothbay Harbor summer colonies have made a name
for the destination since the 1870s. Prized among them,
Spruce Point Inn offers the same unspoiled views the
original inhabitants, sportsmen and notables have
enjoyed for generations.
HISTORIC INN: The original classic Down East
wood-frame Inn still stands, now containing eight
guestrooms, three restaurants, a gameroom and the
character of the classic Maine shore resort.
LODGE ROOMS are of a more recent vintage, designed
and decorated to maintain the classic cottage feel of
the resort.
COTTAGE ROOMS combine traditional coastal cottage
décor and private porches.
CONTEMPORARY 2- AND 3-BEDROOM TOWNHOUSES
offer views of the woodlands or landscaped grounds.
Property History
The Marston Family of Skowhegan, Maine
built the inn in the late 1800s as a private
hunting and fishing lodge. In 1902, Mrs.
Holland rented the place and ran it as a tea
house and inn. Ten years later, Walter Holland
purchased the property and operated Spruce
Point Inn until shortly after World War II. In 1957,
Charlotte and John Druce took the helm for
the next three decades, welcoming such
high-profile guests as Ted and Robert Kennedy,
Andy Williams and Claudine Longet. In 1991
Ernest Mallett and Bruno DiGiulian purchased
the inn, appointing Joe Paolillo and Angelo
DiGiulian as managers. They and their families
uphold the tradition of personal hospitality and
unobtrusive attention to detail that create
“oceanside memories made in Maine.”
Location.
Location. Location.
The Inn is a private and secure summer
retreat located one hour North of Portland
International Jetport (PWM) and 35 minutes
North of Brunswick Executive Airport (BXM).
Transportation services are convenient and
efficient. By car, Spruce Point is accessible
by major highways from Portland, Boston
and New York.

A COMMITMENT TO QUALIT Y, ATTENTIVELY
WARM SERVICE, AND THE ENVIRONMENT
Space & Privacy
Since 1892, Spruce Point Inn has provided a
safe and distinctive historic vacation experience
for travelers to the Maine Mid-coast. Originally
purchased to serve as a private fishing camp for
‘rusticators,’ the main lodge became a platform
for expansion. Soon other cottages dotted the
peninsula, creating a private enclave and Spruce
Point began to accumulate the memories that
made the name legendary. In the 21st century,
Spruce Point is again a secure and private
refuge with a distinctive reputation
for service and discretion.
Environmental Leader/
Green Lodging Partner
In 2006, Spruce Point Inn sought and received
Maine Department of Environmental Protection
“Environmental Leader” accreditation, making
Spruce Point a “green lodging partner”. In 2013,
The Boothbay Region Land Trust named us their
hospitality conservation partner. From using
seawater for weed control and ensuring all
guestrooms have “fresh air campaign’ options
as well as A/C, to our green housekeeping
program and minimizing the impact on the
Maine coastal environment is a critical part
of our responsibility as innkeepers.
Locally Fished,
Farmed and Harvested
Executive Chef Tim Fain leads a culinary team
passionately devoted to presenting the best
locally fished, farmed, and harvested flavors of
authentic mid-coast Maine.
Three restaurants and all banquet services rely
on local elements — from Tourmaline Hill Farm
greens to Mill Cove lobster to Damariscotta
oysters and beyond — presented with simplicity
or sophistication, but always authentic.
Special requests, including vegan and
gluten-free, are routine.
Be Well, Stay Well
Spruce Point is committed to health, wellness
and sustaining active lifestyles that foster
balance and creativity. On-site fitness facilities
include a 3.5 mile hiking trail, bikes, kayaks
and paddle boards. Yoga and full-service Spa
options afford stress relief appropriate for an
intense day of work.
ACTIVITIES & TEAMBUILDING
Land. Water. Local partnerships.
Overview
Team-building and socializing opportunities for your
group include activities on land and sea. The Inn’s
conference team works closely with local outfitters
to maximize your choice of the destination with such
options as excursions on and around Boothbay Harbor
and surrounding Islands and outings tailored to the
specific needs of the guests. Enjoy a golf outing at the
nearby Boothbay Golf Club, dinner in the Coastal Maine
Botainical Gardens, tastings at Boothbay Brewery or
Cellardoor Winery, whale-watching or lobster-boat
races capped with an authentic Down East lobster bake,
shoreline hikes at the Boothbay Regional Land Trust,
or cocktails in a lighthouse.
Land
Here on the resort property, there are
swimming pools (saltwater and fresh),
decks for lobster bakes and s’mores parties,
a full-service Spa, game room, bicycles
and courts for friendly competitions.
Our mid-coast location gives guests easy
access to the local Coastal Maine Botanical
Gardens, Boothbay Harbor Country Club and
the Boothbay Region Land Trust as well as
Freeport and Camden both of which are just
40 minutes away.
Water
Spruce Point is unique in giving guests
access to our own motor launch, Bright Line
and the last authentic sailing wooden lobster
boat, the Sarah Mead, moored off our dock.
Options include short harbor cruises by power
or sail, lighthouse and lobstering day trips,
Monheagan Island, guided fishing charters,
whale watching trips, schooner sails aboard the
Eastwind, guided kayak tours, and hands-on
experiences along the rugged Maine coast. — all
from Maine’s largest and most secure harbor.
