GV650 AIS Bypass.indd - Alternative Cruisers
GV650 AIS Bypass The GV650 has been known to have exhaust valve problems resulting in seized engines. According to information from the factory (provided to dealers), the “fix” is to simply block off the AIS system from the cylinders. Our good friend Leroy Beal was gracious enough to assist us with the instructions, and the entire job was so easy, we had to post it for our customers and friends. Thanks Leroy! This mod requires two ¾” bolts and two 3/8” vacuum caps. On the exhaust side of the motor, remove the chrome carb cover by undoing the screw in the center and pulling the cover down from the chrome air scoop. You will see 2 small chrome tubes connecting to a small hose behind the cover. Simply disconnect the hose from each chrome tube. Insert one ¾” bolt into each hose, and install one 3/8” vacuum cap onto each chrome tube. Reinstall the carb cover. Required Parts: • Phillips head screwdriver • Needlenose pliers • (2) 3/4” x 1” carriage bolts • (2) 3/8” vacuum caps Special Thanks to Leroy Beal! Use extreme caution when performing any modification, and check local and state laws as well as possible warranty issues from performing these tasks.
