Welcome!
to the Summer Session at Swift Creek Academy of the Performing Arts. There are so many opportunities for learning and fun this
summer. You may choose weekly classes, private lessons or week long day camps. Now is the time to begin or to grow your skills in music, dance or drama. The Summer Session is July 8th – August 16th and registration begins April 15th. Have a look at what is happening!
MUSIC
Suzuki Guitar Beginner Group – 3-4 year old students with
parent learning guitar is a fun way to begin. Join a group
and share learning guitar, social skills, taking turns and
performing in a group.
Section 700 – Tuesdays, 4:30-5:30pm, tuition $175.
Piano Beginner Group – Beginning piano in a group
is an excellent, inexpensive way to try the instrument.
Being in a group reinforces rhythm skills from the
beginning
and encourages practice to perform together each week.
Students will need a piano or keyboard at home for
practice.
Section 701 – Thursdays, 7:00-8:00pm, tuition $175.
Guitar Beginner Group – Learn the basics of guitar playing
with simple tunes and chords.
Section 732 – Tuesdays, 6:00-7:00pm, tuition $175.
Cello Beginner Group – A jump start class for rising 6th
graders entering orchestra in the Fall. Preparation in a
small group allows for individual attention and a solid
foundation for success as a middle school orchestra student.
Section 702 – Tuesdays, 7:00-8:00pm, tuition $175.
Violin Beginner Group – A jump start class for rising 6th graders entering orchestra in the Fall. Preparation in a small group allows for
individual attention and a solid foundation for success as a middle school orchestra student.
Section 703 – Wednesdays, 6:00-7:00pm, tuition $175.
Music Theory and Composition – Students will learn the “rules” for how music is constructed. An opportunity for individual and group
work to expand skills in analyzing and creating music.
Section 704 – Tuesdays, 6:00-7:00pm, tuition $175.
Children’s Music Class – Students 4-6 years old explore making music with a variety of instruments and singing. Basic rhythmic notation,
adaptation to various tempos and fine motor skill development are a part of sharing a love for music.
Section 705 – Thursdays, 6:00-7:00pm, tuition $175.
Group Singing – This class is open to students 7 and older who love to sing and want to develop a good foundation for singing correctly
for the best possible sound and health of the voice.
Section 706 – Wednesdays, 7:00-8:00pm, tuition $175.
Summer Orchestra – For cello, viola and violin players. The string section is where an orchestra begins. Be a part of our new orchestra
program.
Section 733 – Mondays, 6:00-7:30pm, tuition $175.
PRIVATE LESSONS in cello, guitar, piano, violin and voice are taught for beginners through advanced levels. A private lesson allows each student to
progress at his/her own pace. Early registration allows the best choice for lesson times. Suzuki lessons are taught in guitar and violin for students as
young as 3 years old. Cello, piano and voice students may start at 7 years old.
Section 707 – 30 minute lesson each week, tuition $210.
Section 708 – 45 minute lesson each week, tuition $315.
Section 709 – 60 minute lesson each week, tuition $420.
DRAMA
Kinder Drama – Acting class for 4-6
year olds. The student will develop
self-confidence in presentation, vocal
projection, observation skills, listening
skills and communication skills with fun
games and activities.
Section 710 – Tuesdays, 6:00-7:00pm,
tuition $175.
Creative Drama – Acting class for 7-12
year olds. The students will develop
problem solving skills while creating
scenes to develop performance and
projection styles. Work will include
circumstances to be in the moment
and respond quickly.
Section 711 – Tuesdays, 7:00-8:00pm,
tuition $175.
DANCE
Summer is a great time for new dancers to try a class and see how much fun and fitness they will enjoy in dance class. Summer is also a great time for
continuing dancers to continue muscle conditioning and increase flexibility. Here is the dance class lineup.
Kinder Dance – For dancers 3-5 years old. This
class is a combination of ballet, tap, tumbling
and creative movement. A great group activity
for children to learn social skills, taking turns
and listening skills through the fun of dance.
Section 712 – Wednesdays, 6:00-7:00pm,
tuition $125.
Beginning Tap – For dancers 6-11 years old.
Tap is a great rhythm foundation for all dance
styles andmusic. Your feet are the percussion
instrument!
Section 713 - Thursdays, 6:00-6:30pm, tuition
$65.
Beginning Ballet – For dancers 6-11 years old.
Ballet develops excellent body placement,
strength and flexibility for all dance styles.
Section 714 – Thursdays, 6:30-7:00pm, tuition
$65.
Beginning Jazz – For dancers 6-11 years old.
Jazz is for movers and shakers, more strength
and flexibility work with upbeat music and moves.
Section 715 – Thursdays, 7:00-7:30pm, tuition $65.
Dance Team Prep Class – For those students
interested in auditions for a middle school or
high school dance team. Work on dance team
specific technique, strong pom motions, with
dance with jazz, hip hop and pom elements.
Section 716 – Tuesdays, 8:00-9:00pm, tuition
$125.
Technique Class – Strictly working on an array
of jumps, leaps and turns. Develop your
showmanship!
Section 717 – Tuesdays, 7:00-8:00pm, tuition
$125.
Musical Theatre Class – Combining jazz and
musical theatre performance focus on taking on
the roll of the character and of stage presence
while dancing. Learn different segments of
original Broadway choreography.
Section 718 – Tuesdays, 6:00-7:00pm, tuition $125.
Choreography Class – Learn the process it takes in order to choreograph a dance routine. Students are given different scenarios and situations and must
choreograph their own work to present to the class.
Section 719 – Tuesdays, 5:00-6:00pm, tuition $125.
Stretch and Strengthening Class – For students who want to continue muscle conditioning and develop an increase in flexibility over the summer.
Section 720 – Tuesdays, 4:00-5:00pm, tuition $125.
Intermediate Ballet – For dancers with a minimum of four years Ballet experience or permission of the instructor. Pre-Pointe and Pointe work to maintain
strength over the summer.
Section 721 – Mondays & Thursdays, 6:00-7:30pm, tuition $350.
Rhythm Tap – Drumming with your feet.
Section 722 – Wednesdays, 7:00-8:00pm, tuition $125.
Dance Conditioning for Teens and Adults – A great cardio
and strength class with Latin dance moves. Dancers should
have hip hop shoes or jazz sneakers, a towel and water
bottle.
Section 723 – Thursdays, 7:30-8:30pm, tuition $125.
CAMPS – If you are traveling during part of our summer session and would like a day camp experience for one week, come and join
in the fun. There is a 20% discount for siblings and for campers who sign up for additional weeks. Campers bring a bag lunch each
day.
Performing Arts Camp – Campers enjoy a week full of arts. Art, dance, drama, and music with a showing on the last day. Section
724 – July 29–August 2, 9:30am-3:30pm, tuition $235.
Musical Theatre Camp – Create a musical production with singing, dancing and acting. Students will create a show incorporating all
of the “triple threat.”
Section 725 – August 5-9, 9:30am-3:30pm, tuition $235.
Dance Camp – Ballet, hip hop, tap, jazz and ethnic dance. Learn the steps and learn to create.
Section 726 – August 12-16, 9:30am-3:30pm, tuition $235.
Music Camp – Music activities with guitar, piano, drums and percussion instruments. Come and create a band.
Section 727 - July 29-August 2, 9:30am-3:30pm, tuition $235.
Guitar Camp – An immersion beginner guitar camp. Spend a week with a guitar, learning to play simple songs. Guitar furnished for
each student.
Section 728 – August 5-9, 1:00-3:00pm, tuition $190.
Senior Citizen Adult Classes for 60+
Beginning Piano – Section 729 – Wednesdays, 3:00-4:00pm, tuition $150.
Beginning Guitar – Section 730 – Wednesdays, 3:00-4:00pm, tuition $150.
Beginning Tap Dancers – This class can be done standing or sitting in a
chair.
