Delicious Wine
Fact
Champagne, one of the world’s greatest sparkling wines,
is popularly but erroneously thought to have been
invented by the Benedictine monk Dom Pierre Perignon
(1638-1715). Although he did not invent or discover
champagne, he founded many principles and processes in
its production that are still in use today. And he
purportedly declared upon drinking the bubbly beverage,
“I am drinking stars.”
Round Hill White Zinfandel
Monteray Coast CA
citrus hint of honeyed grapefruit,
lively and long. $9.99
A chilled glass of Round Hill White
Zinfandel is the perfect
accompaniment to a warm summer
day. Wonderfully refreshing and
more versatile than you may
originally think, this wine is a
wonderful complement to spicy
green Thai curry, Cajun shrimp and
Italian pizza. For dessert, serve
with a fresh slice of strawberry
shortcake and warm apples over a
scoop of home-made vanilla ice
cream. The minute you pull the
cork, aromas of sweet watermelon,
kiwi and freshly picked strawberries
are evident. With your very first sip,
you will taste the cranberry
fruitiness and sweet citrus of a
mandarin orange, alluding to a faint
reminder of rose petals. $9.99
Santa Marvista Merlot
Aconcaqua Valley. Chile
JaJa de Jau Sauvignon Blanc
Languedoc France
Jaja is a slang for the region’s
delicious full-flavored, everyday
wines. Enjoy it with chicken on
salad with fruits and cheeses. Very
aromatic nose of white flowers and
buds of blackcurrant. In the mouth,
its is crisp, fresh and zesty, with a
On its own or perfectly matched
with rice dishes, fish or other
seafood. Exceptional merlot.
Smooth and supple taste the
integrates fruit and spice
flavors. Plenty of rich dense plum,
sherry and currant flavors with a
lingering spicy fruit finish. Well
balanced and full bodied. $9.99
D’Aquino Sangiovese
2010. Tuscany. Italy
Light-bodied red wine to pair with
pasta dishes and even light meat
dishes. 100% Sangiovese from
Tuscany. Once it breathed and
settled, it had a core of bright cherry
and red currant fruit flavors with
plenty of veggie notes. The light
but definite tannins gave this
selection a nice peppery bite at the
end which is why I think it can
stand up to some meat dishes. 9.99
SantaAlicia Carmenere
Maipo Valley. Chile
Chinese food, turkey and a wide
variety of meats. Intense violet
color. Bold, ripe and delicious with
tiers of rich plum, chocolate and
black cherry flavor with an elegant
toasted oak touch and smooth
polished tannins. Deep and rich
finish – flavors linger on and on.
$9.99
Crow Canyon Cab Sav

Castle Rock Syrah
Columbia Valley WA

dishes, cheeses and spiced foods
such as a tuscan white bean with
Italian sausage stew. Well
balanced, ripe and spicey. Flavors

pepper. Lingering spicy

1749 Sauvignon Blanc
Loire France
“I should say
upfront that I have
never been in a
cellar in my life. In
fact, I can see no
reason why anyone
should ever go into
a cellar unless there
is wine involved.”

Enjoy this with lightly seasoned
grilled or roasted chicken, stuffed
quail, halibut with butter and red
pepper sauce. Exquisite and multiaward winning Sauv Blanc! With a
forward nose of vivid fruits, from
gooseberry to white peach and
white grapefruit, melded with a
touch of river water, lanolin and
nougat, the palate on 1749
continued and expanded on the
initial fruit-laden theme. Sweet yet
almost tart, notes of star fruit, more
gooseberry and white grapefruit
merged with a lush mouth feel,
counterbalanced by good acidity to
keep it clean and buoyant. Hints of
apricots, orange blossoms and
clover honey furthered the delicious
depth on the palate. The finish is
fresh and quick but with a lingering
fruit essence and mixed floral touch
that reverberates nicely. $11.99
