going in the black, but in recent months the balance hasn’t been
so good. The crowds have been good, the shows have been
great, the jams have been good, but the balance sheet has been

This is a picture of the feeder by the road.
If you watch, you can see the deer there
every morning and every evening.
We think they are getting to accustomed
to Karen taking their picture, as they just
stand there now. Most of the time they
will at least look at the camera when she’s
out there, but at this minute they were
distracted by a car going down the road.
Keep watching them year after year as
them mature and grow. We just hope they can find enough water to drink this year.
Every weekend the phone starts ringing. We have the same questions, and here are the typical
conversations that occur weekend after weekend:
Q—Are you having music this weekend?
A—This is Triple Creek, we have music EVERY weekend of the year, including all holidays.
Q—What time do you start playing?
A—We have our pot luck supper at 5:00 and we usually start playing around 6:00 when everyone is finished eating.
Q—Well, who is going to be there this weekend?
A—We never know who is coming, but there is always a group, and we always have fun.
Q—What is the charge to get in.
A—Just a smile on your face. We don’t charge

Triple Creek “LIVE” on KWUD radio.
Radio has often been considered one of the most personal forms of media. It brings the business to the people
right in the comfort of their very own homes.
Karan is now talking on KWUD radio every Friday morning between 8:30 - 9:00 am. We’re trying to get the
word out about all the good things going on at Triple Creek & the existence of Bluegrass music.. She might even
ask you to join her and play some music on the air! Thanks to Oscar Lyons, Charles Glenn, and Dean
Bartholomew for doing that very thing on the Friday before Thanksgiving!
Karen talks about the specific instrumentation, and how Bluegrass is has a distinguishing characteristic of
featuring two, three, or four parts harmony. Unlike mainstream country music, bluegrass is traditionally played on
acoustic stringed instruments. The fiddle, five-string banjo, guitar, mandolin, and upright bass are often joined by
the resonator guitar (also referred to as a Dobro) and harmonica.
We hope Alvin’s Blue grass jokes show up on radio!

Blues Weekend -
If you like the blues, like to play the blues, like to listen to the blues, or know anyone who does: let us
know, and we’ll schedule a “Blues Weekend” . It should be fun for all, as well as something a little bit
different for Triple Creek… Interested??

We are collecting birthdays (only the month), so we can
celebrate birthday’s once a month. Sign up next time you
are in the Jam Shack.
For our monthly birthday celebration, we have cake and
ice cream. Our celebration is held after the big meal on
Bluegrass weekend. Come join in the fun.

Triple Creek RV Music Park
Thanksgiving here at Triple Creek was an absolutely wonderful event. We had several families out here
that consisted of many generations. We were very happy they selected Triple Creek as their gathering
place. It was great to see all the new faces in the Jam Shack as we celebrated. The only down side of the
event was all these people heard how we eat out here so they brought lots and lots of food. We had to
add on three (3) extra tables to hold all the food and deserts. It was a wonderful time.
At this time we would like to thank all our extended family for making Triple Creek our home.

Express” that was a regular performer on the stage here at Triple
Creek.

Now lets take a look at a walk down memory lane as we view people and actions that have taken place here
in the past. Such good times we have to be thankful for.
After successfully raising
the new windmill, here is

quite proud
of this undertaking, as the
windmill
came in
pieces and it
was a guessing game to figure out what went where. And since no one had
ever erected a windmill, it was a challenge to figure out just how
to go about it. As you can see in the picture, it was a success.

Nancy was for this picture). Bob restored this
Mustang himself, so it is
his pride and joy (well,
Nancy is too).
While Bob and Nancy were here, Bob put in a lot of time on
Karen’s 1933 Plymouth. Bob uses tender hands on this old metal.
Another Bob
Bob was the greatest cook. He walked in the Jam Shack and started
cooking. He was also our spiritual leader on Sundays. Their daughter,
husband and kids all called Triple Creek home until job duties pulled
them down to Florida. Maybe Bob and Evelyn will return to Triple Creek
sometime even though the grandkids are in Florida!!!

believe it takes a real man to handle a job like that!.
Betty Poplin—So sorry to hear about Nancy. I know you all must miss her terribly already. I miss being there and
hope that I can come back and visit with everyone soon. Still keeping my two young grandkids.

Remember the ol’ Burma Shave signs along the side of highways typically in groups of 6? Burma-Shave sign series
appeared from 1925 to 1963 in most of the United States. Well, its been suggested that we at Triple Creek do the

By the way, this suggestion was made by the Hite’s at “Signs Today” here in Woodville. They were here one

Original Bass
This is the tub bass that Karen saw while traveling in New York State. It is the basic model. Moving the
"pump handle" up and down is what gives the bass the different pitches. The neck of this fine instrument is
short enough to allow you to set down and play. This item comes in a cardboard box ready for your assembly,
which is pretty much straight forward.
If you are interested in purchasing such a refined instrument such as this, contact Karen , and she will tell you
all the details.

Elephant” BINGO every Monday evenings. Just bring any
White Elephant that you have laying around and donate as a
prize. Its not only a great way to have fun, but its also a
wonderful way to get rid of those little things around the
house that just need to go.

in Holly Beach Lousiana. We had some great times there,
but unfortunately, Hurricane Rita washed it away right after
we sold it!

Bob and Sue were life savers when Hurricane Rita hit the
Gulf Coast and took the roof off of our house. They
worked tireless hours trying to restore order. Fortunately,
they arrived almost immediately after the storm and started
lending a hand. They camped out in the front yard along
with us in our motorhome. More good times and memories were
made.
Triple Creek’s Work campers Dale & Betty are gone. The left for
Florida where Dale will be working the Karoake scene with all the
snowbirds down there.

Welcome to our returning snowbirds!
Welcome back for another season Dean & Jo Anne
.Bartholomew. These two have been coming back
year after year and are part of the park. They have
been coming here since Karen and Marc have had
the park, and are constantly lending a hand as we
continue to make changes and improvements. We
would certainly like to thank them for their friendship and involvement.
Clean up!
Bits and chunks of metal have been accumulating
all around Triple Creek. Bob “Honey” has spent
his time collecting it and is getting ready to make
a trip to the salvage yard with it. Here he is pictured with one lad that is about on its way. It
takes a lot of effort to pick up all the material that
is laying around, so please thank Bob for cleaning
the place up. BTW, he is really in the clean up
mode, so don’t leave anything loose outside, or it
will be loaded up and hauled off.. Other than
scrap iron, he also has many aluminum parts, cans
and an untold number of discarded batteries.
Thanks Bob Honey, your efforts really are being
noticed around here.

GOT BREAKFAST?
Ms Audrey (in the pink) puts together this country breakfast
every time she knows a crowd is a’ comin’. Biscuits &
gravy, eggs, sausage, bacon, grits, potatoes and plenty of
coffee and juice. She also serves home made jellies and
jams.
Ms Audrey asks that you support her cooking habit with
financial donations so she can keep buying food and cooking. Dudley really likes it when she cooks, so please throw some money in Audrey’s bucket that is on the
counter. Her cookin’ is mmm, mmm good.

CHILI COOK-OFF
Don’t’ forget the wonderful Chili cook off that we had here on November 12.
All forms of road-kill were entered for this annual event. We had 18 different
people enter their food that ranged from mild to wild. Some were smoking hot.
Winner of the contest was a TOTAL surprise! The
winner came from Missouri, it was our very own
Gary and Dorsianne. We NEVER expected anyone
except a Texan to win this event. We think the
judges were bribed. Or else it was all those people
from Missouri that were here!

PROBLEM:
The beautiful “Texas” pen pictured above was borrowed from the Jam Shack during the Thanksgiving
festivities… If you meant to pay for it and left without doing so, please contact the park ASAP so we
can clear up this problem. If you took it with some other intent, you are part of the problem that needs
to be cleared up to keep the Jam Shack going!
It has never before been an issue to leave any thing at the park in the Jam Shack — instruments, etc.
However, recently there have been multiple items turn up missing. We would hate to need to start locking the building and causing discomfort for everyone due to the sticky fingers of a few.
IF IT DOES NOT BELONG TO YOU, LEAVE IT ALONE! PLEASE!!!

World Famous Group that once played at Triple Creek.
Do you recognize anyone in this picture? Surely you do, as this person is staying here at Triple Creek. This group
once performed in the J-T High School auditorium in Jasper, New York for the second annual Fall Ag Festival on
Saturday, September 26, many years ago!
The Bartholomew family made their debut at the 2nd annual Southern Tier Bluegrass Festival in 1973. Dean
with his three oldest sons, Dave 14, Scott 12, and Dale 11 played songs that featured solo and duet vocals. Scott
was mastering the fiddle then, Dale played mandolin. Dean and Dave played rhythm guitar that was solid as a
rock.
A couple of years later Scott got the urge to start playing banjo and they added cousin Dennis Harrington on Bass.
This expanded their vocal capabilities to 3 and 4 part harmony's. In April of 1977 the Bartholomew Family Band
was a featured segment of the Addison Central High School Chorus performance which not only played in Addison but also traveled to Holley, NY.
In 1979, the youngest member of the family, Terry, took over the chores of singing tenor and playing bass. Being
a rather short fellow at the time, he was provided with a step stool to reach the neck of the bass. Today there is
no need for him to stand on anything.
During the 80’s the Bartholomew Family made appearances throughout New York and Pennsylvania, including an
appearance on Bill Knowlton’s Bluegrass Wramble radio show in Syracuse. They have also enjoyed 3 trips to
Mega Sound Studio in 1985, 1987, and 1990 to record some of their most requested songs.
Today the hub of the activity centers around Wyoming, NY where Dace, Scott, and Terry live with their families.
Dale and his family live in Brocton, NY and Dean is retired with all kinds of time to devote to music.. Of course
we all know that our famous musician Dean makes his winter home here at Triple Creek.

BAND OF THE MONTH—BARTHOLOMEW FAMILY
Family bands are unique in the sense that you don’t hire a banjo player or a mandolin picker, you have to build
one.
August of 1973 was our first endeavor to entertain an audience. With Dean and Dave playing guitar, Dale playing mandolin, Scott on the fiddle and with the help of our good friend, the late John Sanford, playing bass we
played at the 2nd Annual
Bluegrass Festival.
In 1976 Scott started working
the banjo over and our cousin
Denny Harrington began playing bass. By 1978 our youngest brother, Terry, was big
enough to play the bass “if”
he had a stool to stand on
(today he has no problem at
all). Now that we had decided
what instruments each of us
wanted to play we started
working on who should sing
which part. After numerous
changes because of voices
changing, Dale sings the lead
part, Terry taking the tenor,
and Dave handling the baritone part with Dean singing
bass. Occasionally we’ll have
Scott sing lead on the chorus,
Dale will drop to baritone and
have Dave get the bass part
while Terry sings Tenor.
Today the Bartholomew Family would like to say “thank
you” to those who spent time
getting us started especially
Dick Cook, and Jim and Charlie Hartman, to those who watches us grow physically and musically, and now to
those who support us as we entertain the ever growing audiences that enjoy Bluegrass music.

Big Pond, Pa—The sounds of Bluegrass music will be heard as the Third Annual Bluegrass Festival begins at the
Lake Ondawa ball park, just outside Big Pond in Braford Couny.
This two-day Festival begins at 8 p.m. Aug 28 and is sponsored by the Big Pond Lions Club. All incoming roads to
the park, located south of Wellsburg, NY and north of Burlington, Pa, will be marked with Bluegrass signs and
maps are also available with advance ticket purchases.
Featured performers on August 29 include The Diamond Back Rattlers, North Fork Alliance, Creek Band,
the Bartholomew Family, and Dark Hollow.

Take a look at the new facilities that were installed to handle the mail here at Triple Creek. We now have a mail
slot for everyone that wants one. This makes life a lot easier for the snowbirds that are visiting our place each year.
Plus its just real convenient for all the people that live here full time.
