He asked the members to take some advertising flyers to put around town to promote the car show. Gordon has a goal of having 100 corvettes in the show this year so let’s get out and promote the show. Gordon has been in contact with the Myrtle Beach corvette club and has challenged them to win the best club participation trophy at our show as we have won it the last three years at their show and they have a much bigger club than ours. Gordon spoke about the need for members to sign up to help with the various jobs the day of the show a volunteer signup sheet was sent around for members to sign up for jobs at the car show. Please let Gordon know that you can help with the car show what you are willing to do by calling or e-mailing him. (gboyd1@ec.rr.com). Judges Needed: Don’t be afraid to volunteer to be a judge as that’s a job that needs a large number of people so we can get it done promptly and we will be having a judging clinic and cookout starting at noon Saturday September 7th (details in the newsletter) to help everyone with judging skills. Donations and Prizes Needed: Gordon also asked that the members continue getting some donations for the silent auction and bring them to the next meeting. Remember the charity we will be supporting with the proceeds of the corvette show is AARP drive to end hunger. We are asking all club members to please bring a car related door prize item to our next meeting (value not to exceed $10.00). This would be in addition to any silent auction prize that they would like to donate. We are asking members to visit businesses to solicit silent auction items. All sponsors of items will be listed on our sponsor board and literature. PLEASE bring canned food or non-perishable food to the car show to support the local food bank.
