apart in age. Prizes for tournament winners; oldest and youngest players. Beat the Experts! Make your
own Hanafuda cards!

8:30 am Registration & “Yaku” practice a
9:30 am Check-In, 10:00 am Double Elimination Tournament
Free lessons & practice sessions at Mililani Hongwanji June 1 & June 26, 2 pm – 4 pm
Friday, July 15 Deadline Register EARLY to guarantee participation. $5 suggested donation per
individual Form may be downloaded at hanafudahawaii.com Registration confirmation will be sent to email
addresses. Walk-ins on tournament day accepted if space available.
Call for Sponsors Title Sponsor HANAFUDA HAWAII will donate $1 for every player registered by
July 15, 2011.

INTERGENERATIONAL HANAFUDA TOURNAMENT
Tournament Rules
1. The first and most important rule of this tournament is to have FUN.
2. Official HANAFUDA HAWAII STYLE cards will be provided for tournament use.
3. Rules as stated in the HANAFUDA HAWAII STYLE instructional booklet shall apply.
Game rules available in the HANAFUDA HAWAII STYLE instructional booklet and may also
be downloaded from: www.hanafudahawaii.com.
4. Team partners must have an age difference of at least 20 years
5. The Senior Partner will deal and cut the deck on behalf of the team.
6. The Junior Partner will keep track of the cards/points on behalf of the team.
7. To begin the game, the two opposing Seniors will pick from the deck. The Senior with
the card based on the earliest month of the year will deal and will also have the first turn.
8. Advancement in the tournament is based on only win or loss. In the event of a tie in
points, the game will be replayed.
9. “Hiki” rules shall apply.
10. “Yaku” (bonus combinations) shall be used.
11. Call a monitor if any questions or disputes arise. The monitor will have the final say.
12. Please practice good sportsmanship. No HABUT! No MONKU!
13. “No shows” will be a forfeit.
