Started in 1993, we originally began by selling pumpkins for Halloween. But it wasn’t long before Bradley Burke, Longmeadow’s owner, felt that something more was in order. And with that decision, our apple orchard was planted. Today, Longmeadow Farm has 15 varieties of apples along with our pumpkins and so much more. Apple picking season at Longmeadow brings new varieties almost every weekend. Our season runs from the first weekend in September through the last weekend in October. Though, sometimes the season can be longer depending on the weather! We are open on those Saturdays and Sundays from 9AM to 5PM. To find what types of apples we have and when they are avail- able, see our apple varieties page. Our apples are our main attraction, but we offer so much more! We also have pick your own pumpkins for Halloween, and our berry patch with raspberries and blackberries. Not to mention our available jams, jellies, and honey. There are also hayrides for the kids, or those just young at heart. We are located at 561 Blairstown Rd. (Country Rd. 52), Hope, New Jersey, 07844. Vall 908-459-5351 for additional information. Your readers will enjoy this year’s event, scheduled for Sunday, September 20th. One of the most memorable events features homegrown music and talented fiddle players of all ages. Admission is $3.00 for ages 13 and older, making this a perfect day trip for families! Toe-tappin’ music combined with wonderful, homemade PA Dutch cooking make for a very entertaining day in the country. That’s why the decision to purchase a heat pump, gas furnace or central air conditioner is a significant one—a decision that requires careful thought and research. To help you make an intelligent decision about heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) equipment, here are 10 common questions— and answers—from the experts at the Coleman brand of Johnson Controls. 1. Is installing a central HVAC system really necessary? In new homes or remodels, a central home comfort system provides the highest level of overall comfort, indoor air quality and humidity control. 2. Should I repair or replace my existing system? As a rule of thumb, replace your existing home comfort system when repairs cost 30 percent of a new pur- chase—or when utility bills have increased 50 percent as a result of older, less-efficient systems that use more, higher-priced electricity. 3. How much can I save with new equipment? Air-conditioning and heating equipment consume about 44 percent of a home’s culation or an energy analysis to determine your operating costs.
