Cruising Tahiti and her Islands One hundred and eighteen Islands of all shapes and sizes, scattered over an area of tropical oceans the size of Europe, where the trade winds blow steadily from the South-East for most of the year. Almost all the Islands are surrounded by coral reefs, through which there are passes which admit vessels of all sizes. Close to the shores, yachts can drop anchor in a sheltered bay where stunning sceneries are to be enjoyed from the yacht deck. Cruising the spectacular Islands of French Polynesia will be a highlight of your Pacific adenture. A life time experience Diving the Tuamotu atolls usually features fairly shallow (max. depth about 95 ft), warm water year round and excellent visibility. There is phenomenal snorkeling and conservation of the marine wildlife is a local governmental priority. French Polynesia is among the best shark destinations worldwide (sharks are protected by law) and they are encountered during every dive. The place is famous for its thrilling drift diving through the passes (up to 8 knots), which are natural breaches in the reef allowing the lagoon and the ocean to meet. Every year over the same time period, humpback whales come to French Polynesia from Antarctica. The first few are sighted in June and the last ones depart our islands in early December. The peak season is between mid-August and the end of October. Encounters during this period are very frequent. A land rich in art, culture and tradition The culture of the Polynesians can be seen through dance, tattooing and music. Tahitians celebrate their unique way of life in July every year at the Heiva Festival which brings all the elements of the above in a month of cultural celebrations and competions for everyone. As early as the 18th century, European navigators indicated the existence of Tattooing in Tahiti. For Polynesians, Tattooing is a means of asserting of their Maohi Cutural identity and it inspired from vegetal or animal geometry and most of the time, a tattoo has a symbolic meaning. Artisic expression can also be seen in woodcarving, the prerogative of men, for this, they carve as the mood inspires them, ancestral graphic and symbolic designs in precious woods such as « Tou », a local varity of purpole wood, and « Miro » or Rosewood. Marquesans excel in this area and produce superb pieces ; spears, war clubs and « Umete ». They also enjoy using volcanic stone, coral and even bone to fashion hundreds of decorative and useful items. Shore side activities The summer climate that is prevailing throughout the year in Tahiti and its islands makes it possible to indulge 365 days in open air activities essentially based on close contact with the sea and nature but, for newly arriving individuals, they may miss special encounters and unique opportunities when they do not know where to go and what to look for. .. ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● TRADITIONAL WELCOMING AT THE AIRPORT MARINE BIOLOGIST & DIVE GUIDE ON BOARD WHALE WATCHING (BETWEEN AUGUST & OCTOBER) SHARK & RAY FEEDING DEEP SEA FISHING HELICOPTER TOURS JET SKIES & QUAD TOURS PLANE & SKYDIVE PARASAILING & KITE BOARDING ECO TOURS & HIKING THE LAVATUBES PICNIC ON A PRIVATE ISLAND POLYNESIAN SHOW ON BOARD PRESENTATION OF A BLACK PEARL ON BOARD Customized itinerary All the activities are available according to the specifics of the islands and almost everything is possible so, let us assist you in the organization and itinerary of your cruise through the various islands to match your specific requirements. CAPTAIN ELMAR BLAAUW - MY UNBRIDLED “2012 was the first year I used Tahiti Yacht Services, who were recommended to me by crew whom had visited Tahiti before. I decided to try them and without a doubt it was the best decision I made. Pascal and his team are honest and reliable people, all of whom provide exceptional personal service. The TYS team all have a passion for yachting and helping yacht crew and owners alike. Additionally, Pascal doesn’t charge the boat for every little thing they do, only for tasks that require solid time and effort. I respect the fact that he does not rip one off and will at all times try to save the boat money; advising what are the cheapest but still the best options. In all my years of yachting, I have not come across any agent that puts in so much effort while always putting the boat first. I will use Pascal every time I’m in Tahiti and I suggest you do the same ! Thanks Pascal. ” CAPTAIN CHRIS KENNEDY - MY TV “I wish to thank you for your excellent service this season. This has been my fourth season diving and cruising around French Polynesia and by far the best in regards to agent services. I have used the other well known agents in Tahiti and have come to realize your service was far superior, I think you being a native Tahitian was the key factor on «Getting things done» attitude.” CAPTAIN GRANT MAUGHAN - MY TURMOIL “Once again a memorable & brilliant trip to French Polynesia, as usual the arrangements were hassle-free, on time and best prices secured. The fueling operation was one of the quickest, cleanest operations. I have experienced anywhere, add to that the great price TYS got us on the fuel and lubes it is hard to beat. Our guests thoroughly enjoyed our tour through the Tuamotus and Society Islands. Your local contacts really helped smooth out the arrangements from dive guides to air delivered produce. All was clockwork.” Phone / Fax : (689) 85 52 85 - Mobile : (689) 77 44 47 Po Box 13 741 - 98 713 Papeete - Tahiti - French Polynesia Servitude Turia - Taapuna - 98717 Punaauia Email : yacht@tys.pf - Web : www.tahiti-yacht-services.com
