resume Hélène Rioux Lawyer helene.rioux@jolicoeurlacasse.com _ Qualifications Having obtained her law degree from Université de Montréal in 1978 and called to the Québec Bar in 1980, Ms. Hélène Rioux joined our firm at our Montreal office in 1998 after practicing for 18 years in the Montreal region. She became a partner in 2000. Skills Civil, administrative as well as commercial litigation occupy a large part of her practice, in addition to persons and family law. Ms. Rioux has specific expertise in matters related the rupture of business relations, covering all judicial aspects of cessation of employment or services ties, shareholders agreements, litigation resulting from shareholder relationships, non-competition, provisions, obligations of loyalty, manufacturing secrets. Beside these fields, she practices in family and persons law, whether in concerns resulting from marriage or common-law spouses, divorce, separation, alimony, child custody, etc. She possesses particular expertise in matters of private international law, more specifically as concerns the law applicable to spouses whose union and places of residence are located outside the province of Quebec and the country. Me Rioux also has expertise in aboriginal law. To this effect, she obtained Superior Court ordinances forbidding tree cutting on Innu ancestral territories, notably on Île René-Levasseur. Involvements Me Rioux sat on various cultural and philanthropic organisations.
