Demi deLeaumont and Jereme Bufkin March 14, 2015 | GK Photography On the day Jereme decided to propose to Demi, he surprised her with a hot-air balloon ride. Demi says, "We landed from our balloon ride, and my mom and Jereme's mom were there to greet us. He then proposed...I was completely shocked." Jereme and Demi wanted a traditional New Orleans style wedding in the French Quarter, one that would definitely include a Second Line. Demi says, "Jereme picked the date, I just wanted a spring wedding." The couple chose the historic St. Louis Cathedral as their ceremony location, and the Omni Royal Orleans Hotel Grand Ballroom for their reception. Plans for a classic New Orleans styled wedding had begun. Demi wished to honor her late grandmothers on her wedding day. The long-held tradition for the bride-to-be to wear "Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue," would partially be fulfilled with an item from one of her grandmothers, a light blue garter. As it was truly "something old," Demi says when "my maid of honor attempted to put the garter on me, it broke in half and dust particles flew in the air." The room filled with laughter. Their idea to pin it back together failed, as more dust flew, again much laughter filled the room. Demi ended up putting a fragile piece of it inside her dress. Demi also carried her other grandmother's Rosary as she walked down the aisle. Demi's mother, her best friend, had played a huge role in planning the wedding. Demi chose her to be her matron-of-honor. Demi says, "I am so lucky to have had her there through the planning and celebrating." Demi and Jereme's first dance together was "You're My Best Friend" by Tim McGraw, a song they would sing to each other when they started dating. To fully achieve their wish to have a "New Orleans style wedding," they completed the night with a traditional Second Line parade. Demi and Jereme were then off to their honeymoon in Jamaica. 208 | N.O.W | theNOWBride.com NEW ORLEANS WEDDINGS MAGAZINE | FALL 2015 N.O.W.
