And that doesn’t include the cars racing, the car corral, or the swap meet participants. It was covered up! MCCC was well represented! We even won ‘Best Car Club’! Numerous members won awards and Super Chevy jackets. You’re sure to see one at the next meeting or car cruise! Here are a few pictures of some of the winners….. Come join us!!! 4/17/2016 2 April 2016 This year’s Super Chevy Show was April 8, 9, and 10. We had over 300 registered Car Show Participants! Check ‘em out…. Their custom grill. This baby was pampered! These folks were serious about their carshow experience! Bowtie, Baby!!! We thought we had a star sighting: Geddy Lee (Rush) with his personally built Chevy Truck! It was actually J.R. of Memphis. Trucks and flames and flames and trucks everywhere, it seems! 4/17/2016 3 April 2016 Super Chevy Show 2016 Memphis International Raceway and TEN: The Enthusiast Network celebrated the 30th running of the Super Chevy Show over the weekend and the fans showed up in record numbers for the three-day event. The world's largest Chevy automotive event featured drag racing action, a premiere car and truck show, sold out swap meet, car corral, vendor midway and much more. In addition to the on-track action, hundreds of people came out to compete in the car and truck show on Saturday and Sunday. Participants from all over the country brought out their pristine vehicles to be judged in class awards, Super Chevy Magazine editors picks, specialty awards as well as best in class awards from nationally acclaimed judges. Select participants were even chosen to be featured in Super Chevy Magazine throughout the remainder of the year. In an interview with Pam Hendrick, Vice President and General Manager of MIR, she stated how much she appreciated the Memphis Classic Chevy Club and its volunteers for all they do at MIR events. She sends out “a huge thank you” to its members and volunteers. As a result, Super Chevy Show is donating $500 to the Tennessee Baptist Children’s Home. This is exactly why MCCC volunteers step up! They drove it for 10 years. In ‘76 they moved back to New Jersey where they are from. They started their frame-off restoration in ‘88. They were transferred to Memphis in ‘89, so they put the parts in the car, taped the windows in, and put it on a hauler! They both did all the work from the mechanical to the interior to the paint. They completed it in ‘94. They also own a ‘65 Chevelle SS. Tom had owned a brand new one in ‘65, which he sold after being drafted. It took 40 years to find another one that was almost identical! When they first moved to Memphis, they came across the Memphis Classic Chevy Club displaying their cars at the new Serra Chevrolet car lot. They stopped in and talked to several club members. At the next club meeting, they joined MCCC! Beautiful, aren’t they? The photo is from a feature article from the Commercial Appeal several years ago. ‘65 Chevelle SS 4/17/2016 Want yours to be featured?
