BOCCE BALL COURT Ethan So, Life Scout Troop 74 Eagle Scout Project Project Overview • Renovation of Bocce Ball Courts in Montville Park • Located near pavilion • Bocce courts often used by seniors and Montville Rec Bocce League • Materials needed and cost • Estimated to be completed this fall courts • There are 4 bocce ball courts (A, B, C and D) • Court measurements: • 60 ft x 12 ft for Courts A and B • 60 ft x 10 ft for Courts C and D • Construction: • Wooden sides and ends • 10 in boards on sides and 20 in ends • Packed gravel surface Courts A and B Courts C and D Put in new playing surface Project objectives • Replace all wooden boards for all 4 courts • Replace metal support beams as needed • Replace gravel surface • Replace scoreboards Replace cracked boards Replace board ties Replace metal beams if needed Replace scoreboards Materials and Cost How will project be done • Project schedule: weekend, approx 3 days • Friday- DPW will dismantle boards and set up metal supports and prepare new gravel and lumber • Saturday- Scouts will replace boards and spread new gravel on courts • Sunday – wrap up project • Project is planned to be completed in the fall (the weekend of October 10th or October 17th) • Labor • The DPW will precut necessary boards and set metal braces • The DPW will also deliver wood and gravel, and gravel will be placed on the courts using machinery • The Scouts will assemble and fasten boards and spread gravel • Budget • I plan to fundraise $500-700 • Get discounts on lumber and other materials from Home Depot • Get donations from Montville
