his past summer we spent a few days shooting
a new promotional DVD. We then spent a lot
of time this fall editing and finalizing the DVD. The
project was finally completed in mid January and was
immediately sent off to all of our camp families. We
anxiously awaited your feedback hoping that you
would enjoy the DVD as much as we did.
watch the magic of
a lindenmere summer!
We started receiving feedback right away. “Wow!”
“Incredible!” “Brought tears to my eyes!” “Made
me wish I was at camp right now!” were excerpts
from some of the emails and phone calls we
received from current campers and their families.
We were touched by comments from long time
veteran campers. More than one camper said
that they were “proud” to be a Lindenmere
camper and that they thought the DVD was
able to capture the friendships,
energy and spirit that are
so unique to our camp!

bunks are top of the line in camping. Girl’s side is going to have an
elevated wrap around deck over looking the A&C building. Two of
the bunks are going to have huge walk in closet areas to provide them
with tons of extra space. Both the girl and boy LT bunks walls are
W
hat better way to feel the freedom of being the oldest kids in
camp then by having the latest curfew (so they can have that
special time hanging out on the A&C porch). Weekly out of camp
trips with their counselors to all of the local attractions is always an
evening hit. Decorating the dining hall for our end of the year banquet
dinner is always one of the most photographed events. This year the
LT’s are going to take one more step forward and host our carnival
day. We are going to allow them to take this fun day and make it their
own special water carnival. Let’s not forget about the most important
part of the LT program. By completing 3 out of 4 sessions you are
eligible to become a counselor a year earlier and you get to pass on
all of those Lindenmere traditions to new campers! Just ask Sarah
Fornaby, Mallory Sparacio and Katherine Bonay who will be
joining us for the first time as counselors.
This year with all of the programs that they are involved in we thought
they should have brand new bunks too! These completely remodeled
going to be finished with beautiful pine paneling. Our boys LT bunk
is going to be the biggest bunk on camp with the largest bathrooms,
complete with 6 showers! As the oldest campers, LT’s will get some
deserved perks, which they certainly have earned.

Want Your Kids to Mature?
Send them to sleep-away camp!!!
B
esides all of the fun and laughter sleepaway camp provides, it also teaches
children to “grow up”. Mommy and daddy are
not around and although campers feel very safe and cared for, they
realize they also need to care for themselves too. Over and over
I hear from parents; “my child changed at camp”, “they seem so
much more grown up now”, “they are way more independent than
they were”, etc, etc, etc. Yes, I too am a parent and yes, I wish
my children would never grow up and stay exactly how they are
now (or were three years ago) BUT like you I love my children
very much and I want what is best for them. To mature, (socially,
emotionally and intellectually), to be better able to get along with
others and adapt to situations. Yes,
these are great learning experiences
which kids who go to sleep-away
camp learn.
I would love to see a study on
how first year college kids adapt
who went to sleep-away camp
compared to those who did not.
Not only are you giving your
child(ren) a great summer but you are
helping them prepare for their future(s).

Summer Starts with
Official Newsletter Of Camp Lindenmere
a Bus Ride The
- Rebecca Poser
E
very year we await the joy of spending
the summer together. Each year, I look
forward to the bus ride that is part of the
excitement of camp. All my Westchester
friends and I love the bus ride to our second
home. The entire bus ride is filled with smiles
and laughter! I love meeting new campers that
come on the bus and love catching up with
my old friends. During the two hours we all
sing favorite camp songs and talk about how
great the summer is going to be. My friends
and I talk about the activities that are awaiting
us in our second home, and which Majors and
Minors we plan to do. MY favorite part of
the bus ride has to be when we see the old
Camp Lindenmere sign, and everyone on the
bus starts screaming. Can’t wait for another
amazing summer! See you all in June.
bunking up
We will be sending out a mailing in the
next week with a Bunk Request Form so
campers may request who they want to live
with in their bunk (as long as they are in the
same grade). While we cannot guarantee
all requests, please know that we will do
our best to accommodate as many requests
as possible.
Even if you think you have told us whom you
would like to be bunked with or have been
with the same friends for years, please make
sure that you fill out and return this form by
the deadline- this is the only form we use to
do bunking- thank you!!!

Pics
As we prepare for the summer, we ask that
you email us a recent photo of your child
so we can begin putting the names we’ll
be seeing everyday with faces! So, if you
have not already done so, at your earliest
convenience, please email a photo of your
child as a jpeg to fun@camplindenmere.
com, and in the subject line please type your
child’s first and last name. Thank you!
Bus Service
Luggage Service
Camp Lindenmere will continue to offer
transportation to and from camp from New
York, New Jersey and Maryland at no
additional cost. Each air-conditioned bus will
be chaperoned by Lindenmere staff.
Camp Trucking, our preferred, professional
camp baggage service, provides optional
door to door baggage service at an additional
cost for families in the Northeast and Florida.
Camp Trucking will pick up and deliver
your camper’s baggage to coincide with the
session he/she is signed up for.
We strongly encourage all camp families
to take advantage of the Lindenmere bus
service. Taking the bus to camp has proven to
be a much healthier start to the camp season
than parents driving their children to camp.
The ride up to camp with other campers often
becomes an important ice-breaker which
leads to a healthier adjustment to camp.
No camper luggage other than small carry-on
baggage will be allowed on any of our New
York, New Jersey or Maryland stops.
Parent Drop Off
We will use the same drop off and pick up
procedures as last summer for parents that
choose to drive their campers to camp. All
goodbyes will be said in the parking lot as we
kindly remind parents that they will not be
allowed to take their children to the bunks.
While at first this may seem abrupt and not
warm, it is actually the opposite. We want to
ensure that once a camper says “goodbye”
to his/her parents, they can adjust to their
camp experience and not have emotions of
seeing other parents and goodbyes interfere
with their transition to camp. We will once
again have nurses and office staff set up in
the parking lot to assist you with any of your
needs. We appreciate your understanding.
3
As part of our
orientation,
your child’s
counselors
will unpack all
bags. When your child arrives at
camp, they will have their bed made,
clothes folded neatly in their dresser
and their toiletries in the proper place! This
will help ensure an easy adjustment and more
fun for each camper right from the start.
All campers flying to camp on domestic flights
must use Camp Trucking, UPS or FedEx.
No luggage will be allowed on the flights.
Campers may only carry on backpacks to
flights. The airlines have become very strict
about luggage and we want to make sure that
there are no individual problems that hold up
the entire group.
Keep on eye out for detailed information
regarding signing up with Camp Trucking. In
the meantime, you can access their website
at www.camptrucking.com or reach them by
phone at 970.949.0690.
Parents may drop off camper baggage the
week before camp starts if they do not want
to use Camp Trucking, FedEx or UPS so
that everything will be unpacked when your
child arrives.

her passion of skiing.
When not on the slopes,
Rachael
has been
practicing karate and
was selected to be part
of the Pace Institute
of Karate Demo team.
Congratulations
to
Rachael for making the
honor roll again. Jake Sharp has been chasing his
sister on the slopes hitting all the black diamond trails. Rumor has it
he is fast…real fast! Jake is also progressing in the martial arts and
cannot wait for camp to start.
The Plousadis girls are not
letting the cold get to them as
they are also enjoying swim
lessons throughout the winter.
David Wolfsohn became a BarMitzvah in December and did
a spectacular job! David also
recently joined the wrestling
team at school. Julianna Nechin
also recently celebrated her Bat
Mitzvah and was so happy that
Aliza Wolf was able to share her
special day with her! Amanda and Matt Steinberg took a wonderful
trip to Paris in the fall and got together with some camp friends
they had met last summer! Matt Steinberg is preparing for his Bar
Mitzvah and we know he will do a great job. Matt has also been
taking rock climbing lessons and cannot wait to test his skills out at
camp! Amanda is on the Wayne Valley swim team and going to start
rock climbing lessons as well.
James Forster
wrote us saying that he was lucky to get to enjoy
his winter break in the Dominican Republic where he did a lot of
kayaking and played a lot of tennis. James has been in touch with
John Benoit and Jason Robbins and they are all really excited to come
back to camp. Speaking of keeping in touch with other campers,
Andy Lieberman has the concept mastered! Andy has recently seen
Sarah Fornaby, Samara Zelko, Cory Tarallo, Jane Richter, Gabi
Schiz, Mackenzie Cohen, Rebecca Poser, Carly Stirberg, Maggie
Hibner, Kelly Truitt and Becca Fleischer. When not visiting with
camp friends, Andy is appearing in his school’s production of “The
Dining Room.”
Jocelyn Fine couldn’t get enough of the Lindenmere circus program
so she has started taking aerial silks and static trapeze lessons during
the school year. We cannot wait to see her under the Lindenmere
Big Top this summer! Erica Blanco has been busy rehearsing for her
upcoming role in her school’s production of “The King and I”. When
not on stage, Erica has been taking yoga classes and training for track
at a local gym as well as learning weight training. Nicole Heligman is
also in rehearsal for her school’s production of “Grease”. Nicole had
a great time over winter break in the Dominican Republic where she
had the chance to swim with dolphins!
Carly Stirberg
misses everybody so much and cannot wait to spend
her entire summer at Lindenmere. Carly recently started playing
acoustic guitar and has been busy getting ready for softball season.
However, the highlight of her winter was seeing all of her camp
friends (yeah G14) at Mackenzie’s house!
Lucas Fishman
is on his middle school’s basketball team and they
are having a very successful season. When not on the court, Lucas
and Griffin Pollak have been working on a break dancing routine for
a Spring performance. Rachel Zucker cannot wait for the summer to
arrive. She has been keeping busy by working hard in school, practicing
piano, going to gymnastics and having fun with her friends.
Izzy Kalodner was psyched to perform as a clown in “The Nutcracker”
over winter break. She has been busy with a lot of homework and cannot
wait for the snow to melt and for camp to start! Jacob Kalodner

Something’s coming
The Official Newsletter Of Camp Lindenmere
To The Lindenmere Performing Arts Department
By Monroe (Head of Theatre Program)
Greetings from the Lindenemere Theatre
Performing Arts Dept. It is hard to believe
that in less than 130 days we will be back
at camp filling the Rec Hall with girls from
G15 singing their hearts out, the little ones
from G1 and G2 learning choreography,
the “theatre group” reciting lines on the
hill, all the while the guys constructing
scenery for the summers productions. I
cannot wait! Last year The Lindenmere
Theatre brought to the stage an ambitious
summer season including Fiddler On The
Roof, You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown,
CATS The Musical, and Grease. It was
a great experience to see the variety of
shows and welcome in new
talent to our program.
As Camp Lindenmere
continues to grow and
improve summer after
summer, the Lindenmere
Performing Arts Dept is
following the lead. We
have a vast variety of
shows & showcases for
the summer of 2009.
Session One will bring to the
Lindenmere stage a joint production
between the Theatre & Dance program:
West Side Story. West Side
Story is Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet”
transported to a modern day New York
City, as two young idealistic lovers find
themselves caught between warring street
gangs, the American Jets and the Puerto
Rican Sharks. Their struggle to survive in a
world of hate, violence and prejudice is one
of the most innovative, heart wrenching and
relevant musicals of our time. A complex
show to produce because of the challenge
of finding enough male performers who
can skateboard, play basketball, wrestle,
move to the beat, hip hop, break dance and
win a female dance partner. This shouldn’t
be a problem at Lindenmere. So I want
boys’ camp to step up to the plate, get
your converse, skateboards, & basketballs
ready, for we are looking forward to
seeing a record amount of male campers in
this production. For lower camp, our little

to explode into scene for this wonderful
review!!!
Session Two will show the Lindenmere
Theatre’s versatility as middle and senior
camp will be producing a comedy/drama
The Rules of Comedy. In
this comedy the audience is given a sidesplitting lesson in what’s
funny and what’s not
funny. In order to
prove that the Rules
of Comedy work,
they are hilariously
inserted into one of
the most popular
tragedies of all time:
William Shakespeare’s
Hamlet. This is a hilarious blowout with
an interesting twist. Playing by the rules
has never been this fun. Lower camp
will pay tribute to Disney by presenting
A Salute To Disney. This
review show will feature scenes and music
from some of Disney’s favorite shows
including The Little Mermaid, Beauty &
The Beast, The Lion King, Mary Poppins,
and more. The dance program will present
an original dance show Celebrity Dance
Fusion. This showcase will feature dances
inspired by some of today’s hottest artist.
Not only will the dancers dance to the
music but they will also dress and look the
part.
I cannot wait to see old faces and meet
new faces as we present another summer
of great shows. See ya’ll soon!
