Coby Classic XVI L C A S Y S B IC O C Coby Classic XVI SHOW CALF SALE XVI Sponsored by American Animal Producers Club SUNY Cobleskill October 19, 2013 3:00 P.M. Sunshine Fairgrounds Cobleskill, New York 1 Dedication This year’s sale will beCoby dedicatedClassic to several people XVIthat have had a significant impact on the event in one way or another. The New York Junior Beef Producers.Every year the Coby Classic has been held in conjunction with the New York Junior Beef Producers Fall Festival. This gives us a chance to work with producers of many different ages. Working with you and providing the challenge events not only gives you a learning experience but also provides one for us. We truly appreciate your support of the sale, help throughout the weekend, and the partnership that we have built over the past few years. Raymond J. Russell. As many of you may know Ray Russell passed away this past July.Although neither Jill nor myself ever had the chance to meet Ray it is very apparent to us that he was a great man. Ray and his wife Irene have consigned to the Coby Classic since the start of the sale. Ray always made sure that he consigned a well broke, high quality heifer that a junior of any age Classic XVI could work with. It wasCoby always important to him that the heifer was not only going to do well in a show but would also become a great brood cow. He truly enjoyed bringing cattle to the Coby Classic and watching the Fall Festival Show. Although this will be the last consignment from RIJ Farms, Irene hopes that juniors whom have purchased heifers from Ray are able to continue on with the same passion he had for producing quality cattle for juniors to purchase and succeed with. Club Advisors. Without the help and support of our advisors this sale would not be possible. Both Donna and Jason spend countless hours helping us with anything that we need and guiding us to make this sale a success. They both give up time throughout the year that could be spent with their families to help out with events and accompany us on our many trips. We as a club cannot thank them enough! Donna and Jason, you both are truly an asset to this club. Thank you so much for everything that you do for us! 3 Coby Classic XVI Hello Beef Industry Supporters! We would like to welcome you all to the 16th Coby Classic Show Calf Sale and extend a huge “thank you” to everyone who has helped make this sale possible! Without the support, participation, and dedication of consignors, buyers, volunteers, club advisors, and club members none of this would be possible. This has truly been an irreplaceable experience for the both Jillian and myself. Having the chance to organize this sale has provided the both of us an amazing and valuable learning experience that will never be replaced. Not only does the sale provide a great experience for us as the chair and co-chair, but it also gives the club members a chance to interact with the industry producers and help raise funds for scholarships that they are eligible to receive. All of the commissions go directly towards scholarships that are available to not only club members but other students in agricultural disciplines attending SUNY Coby Classic XVI Cobleskill. We have worked hard to gather show quality consignments throughout the northeast. As always, our work was made easier by the help and support of our advisors Donna Cappadona and Dr. Jason Evans whom have spent countless hours helping us every step of the way. We would also like to thank the club officer team, committee members, and club members for their support, dedication, and time this semester. Last but not least, thank you to our friends and family for their constant support through the whole process. Thank you again to the consignors and we look forward to a successful sale for everyone! This can be arranged after the sale. I like our cattle, Steers, Bulls, or Heifers good from the spine to the hoof. As the youngest prospect steer in the sale, set aside age. Pictures don’t do him justice. He’s just as well structured and designed as anything in the barn. If you want him finished and sound, here it is. When you see him in person evaluate him down to the ground. You’ll love him. Heres a kid safe, first timer broke. His cocky go get em’ personality makes him ready for your show season together. As the sale gets closer my list of reasons why I should keep him in my own barn grows! Don’t miss out on a good one this time around!
