About the cover
A River of Spirit flows through life as a constant and

In Loving Memory of
Rev. Louise E. Irvine
1925 ~ 2016
Serving the Indiana Association of Spiritualists and Camp Chesterfield for
over 50 years, Rev. Louise devoted her entire adult life to mentoring,
developing, and teaching countless students who passed through the gates
of our beloved Camp Chesterfield. Rev. Louise Irvine made her transition
into Spirit on April 25, 2016.
The profound impact that Rev. Louise had on Camp Chesterfield through
her tireless dedication and steadfast devotion as President, Trustee,
teacher, minister, neighbor, and gifted medium over the length and breadth
of her tenure as a longtime resident and member of the IAOS is nothing
short of prodigious. She did much to benefit the association and Camp
Chesterfield as a whole, by setting impeccable standards based on the
highest principles of integrity and rectitude that demanded a level of
excellence of service by all those whom she influenced in the areas of the
Spiritualist ministry, church, education, and administration. A beloved Bible
verse of Rev. Louise from Proverbs 29:18 exemplifies her perspective and
attitude toward her work: “Where there is no vision, the people perish.” A
person who had great vision herself to do what needed to be done to better
the association and Camp Chesterfield, Rev. Louise’s lasting gift to all who
had the benefit and privilege to know her was her unfaltering determination
and faithful commitment to her work, ministry, students, and church.
Rev. Louise Irvine’s true and lasting legacies are all the wonderful mediums
and ministers that she taught and mentored over the many decades she
worked and lived on the grounds. Rev. Louise will be missed but never
forgotten. Many blessings to Rev. Louise as she continues her spiritual
work on the other side of the veil.

In Loving Memory of
Rev. Suzanne Greer
November 4, 1941 - May 23, 2016
Rev. Suzanne Greer was a charismatic force on the grounds of Camp
Chesterfield for over 40 years of her adult life, and taught a generation of
students to love Spirit and Camp as passionately as she. Rev. Suzanne
wore many hats during her tenure on Camp - resident, gifted medium,
minister, loving teacher, Trustee on the IAOS Board, and Dean of Students
to name a few. She used her great drive and determination to help make
Camp a place where all could come to these sacred grounds, connect with
Spirit and find healing, wisdom and a sense of the divine for themselves.
Her innate ability to touch others with loving messages from Spirit was
acclaimed not only on the grounds of Camp, but throughout the United
States and beyond. She made trips to China, Egypt and Israel but no
matter how far she went, she always came home to her beloved Camp
Chesterfield. And like the Pied Piper of old, people followed her to Camp.
Her magnetic personality seemed to mesmerize those who received her
accurate and loving messages from their loved ones, guides and teachers,
and the lives she touched were changed forever by her presence and
connection to Spirit. And yet there was a genuine humility and innocence
about her that made every person who knew her find safety and comfort as
if they were wrapped in quite arms of peace.
We have been blessed in knowing her, and we celebrate her many
accomplishments of this lifetime. Even in grief, we find joy in knowing that
she is still working for Camp, her friends, family and students in a far
greater magnitude than before. She remains with us forever, and we
remain forever blessed by knowing her.
In lieu of flowers, her family has asked for donations to be made in her
name to the Memory Garden Fund at Historic Camp Chesterfield,
P.O. Box 132, Chesterfield, Indiana 46017.

Overview
The Astrological Signs and Rulers are names of the Greek and
Roman gods. By understanding the personalities of these gods,
you will understand the effects the Signs and Rulers have over
an individual and/or challenges and opportunities that happen in
one’s life.
I will explain each sign and ruler as interpreted by Mythology.
We will only be discussing the Major Signs and Rulers. Signs:
Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio,
Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces. Rulers: Sun,
Moon, Jupiter, Venus, Mars, Saturn, Uranus, Pluto, Neptune, and
Mercury.
Rev. Nancy Joseph is a resident Astrologer who lives on the
grounds of Camp Chesterfield. She studied under Rev. Shirley
Srogi and Rev. Phyllis Harrison, both from Camp Chesterfield
who worked and taught Astrology for over 50 years.

Sacred Astrology and the Light of Your Soul

Overview
Sacred Astrology is a study of how the Heavens call us
to our potential. Astrology expounds upon the Law of
Correspondence— As Above, So Below. Sacred Astrology is the
study of how the Heavens call you to wholeness, which is your
highest potential and greatest joy. The word Cosmos comes from
the Greek Kosmos meaning order and harmony. Basic and easy
to understand concepts of the Cosmos as part of the grand
creation of Infinite Intelligence will be presented. These concepts
are meant to help with an understanding of the unity of creation
and the beauty of Spiritual help we have on our journey to
enlightenment.
Rev. Sharon Kenton is a Spiritualist Minister dedicated to
teaching the truths of Spiritualism and Natural Law. In search for
Ageless Wisdom, she found that studying Spiritualism and
Natural Law can lead a person out of fear based thinking and into
the truths of the Higher Life we all desire. She has developed a
series of easy to understand classes about the Light of the Soul
and each person’s development as a personal instrument of the
Divine. Her astrology and palmistry classes have been
developed to enhance a person’s sense of purpose, direction,
and self esteem. She is a speaker and teacher and has a private
practice near Dayton, Ohio.

Astrology and Your Soul’s Touchstones

Overview
Astrology and your soul touchstones – a study of
prenatal eclipses, north and south nodes and your Sabian symbols.
All you need is a copy of your astrological chart (exact birth time and
place helps!) to unlock the basic soul story and karmic points at work in
your life. Eclipse points and the north nodes link to clue you into the
karma of past lives and the issues facing us.
Sabian symbols offer us stories that reflect who we really are, why we
came in, and who we meet in our lives who influence us. Sabian
symbols can also be used to rectify charts, in the event your birth time
is imprecise due to hospital guesswork!
We will use your chart, an ephemeris and some marvelously fun
resource books to find the key story, key people and key events in our
lives. Plenty of time for exploring, sharing and learning astrological
techniques. Learn where your story fits into the story of your family,
your friends, and your Camp community. If you know the marriage
dates of your parents and grandparents, the birthdays and times of
brothers and sisters, we can also do some familial karma exploration.
Rev. Normandi Ellis is an astrologer and clairvoyant minister residing
at Camp Chesterfield. She has studied astrology for 25 years,
metaphysical studies for 35 years, and has taught Sacred Calendar,
Full Moon Meditation, Astrology I and Astrology II at Camp Chesterfield
for the last few years. Her joy is drawing on the patterns our charts and
astrological cycles show us, then using the chart to write and reconstruct our stories.

Numerology and Astrology and You —
A Combination of Two Approaches

Overview
There is a saying that God always speaks twice. This
workshop on astrology and numerology will demonstrate
how to put back together two forms that have been
separated since the 1900s. Taught together, they once
offered a more comprehensive picture of how to understand
your spiritual nature. All you need is a basic understanding
of astrology. Bring your chart, including birth time and
place, to the class. You will be amazed to find out
something more about yourself!
Lynda Fagel has been working with astrology since she
was a teenager, which led her into a professional study of
the subject. Since 1975 she is an accredited astrologer
through the American Federation of Astrologers, having
studied with the likes of famed astrologers Isabel Hickey,
Robert Hand and Steven Arroyo. She has been a medium
since 1979 and a resident of Camp Chesterfield since 2012.

Arthur Conan Doyle: Spiritualism’s Missionary
with Stephen Adamczyk

Overview
Arthur Conan Doyle became interested in Spiritualism
in 1886. His interest was fueled by reading a book
written by the US High Court judge, John Worth
Edmonds (1816-1874), an influential early American Spiritualist, and then
decided to pursue the truths of Spiritualism.
This workshop looks at Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s works on Spiritualism and
his impact on the movement.
How could Sir Arthur, a man of science and the creator of a super-rational
detective, become a missionary for Spiritualism? This question is hard to
answer. It was a counterculture movement within Victorian and Edwardian
society and its legacy is visible still today. Victorian Spiritualism exerted an
indirect influence on the emergence of the esoteric movements of modern
Theosophy and New Age. The workshop will review Arthur Conan Doyle’s
life via his effort on the behalf of Spiritualism.
Twenty of Sir Arthur's over sixty books are about Spiritualism. They include:
The New Revelation (1918), Life After Death (1918), The Vital Message
(1919), Spiritualism and Rationalism (1920), The Wanderings of a
Spiritualist (1921), The Coming of the Fairies (1922), The Case for Spirit
Photography (1922), Our American Adventure (1923), Our Second
American Adventure (1924), Spiritualist's Reader (1924), Memories and
Adventures (1924), The Early Christian Church and Modern Spiritualism
(1925), The Land of Mist (1926, fiction), The History of Spiritualism, in two
volumes (1926),Pheneas Speaks: Direct Spirit Communication in the
Family Circle (1927), Our African Winter (1929), The Edge of the Unknown
(1930).
Stephen Adamczyk, has been a passionate Spiritualist for 30 years. His
focus is on the Golden Age of Spiritualism (Victorian Spiritualism) and how
the earliest Spiritualists looked at their beliefs and the universe. He has
been retained as a Lecturer at the University of Michigan and the University
of Detroit-Mercy for over 30 courses.
He lectures at various Spiritualist churches in Michigan, as well as giving
classes. With his wife, Terrie, he runs a meditation/discussion group near
Ann Arbor.

Writing as a Healing Tool for the Mind and Body
with Joanne Pfleiderer

Overview
Motivate yourself to let go of negative issues and
embrace vibrant well-being by writing letters to
friends and loved ones here and in the Spirit world.
Research suggests that expressing emotions about a traumatic or
troubling experience in a coherent way can be important to mental,
physical, and spiritual health. This workshop will build on the mind-body
connection to motivate participants to let go of issues by writing letters
to friends and loved ones here and in the Spirit world. Releasing
negative emotions in a safe space is a valuable tool for learning to help
oneself and others in the future.
This workshop will delve into serious issues, asking participants to
verbalize in writing thoughts or emotions they had not expressed
before, but is also inspired by using laughter as a healing tool.
Participants will not share their writing with others in the workshop, and
all issues will be confidential. The objective is to provide a coherent tool
to enhance mental, spiritual, and physical health.
Joanne Pfleiderer is a spiritual counselor, interfaith minister, and
founder of Wellsprings Ministries, which provides services for those
seeking spiritual guidance in the everyday and special moments in their
lives. Her practice includes spiritual guidance and communication to
help clients release anxiety and pain, bring closure to losses, rebuild
self-esteem, and develop positive life goals. She completed a two-year
ministry program at Fellowships of the Spirit in Lily Dale, NY, and is
assistant minister there.

In this workshop we will explore the basic laws of Karma and
how it works vs. a westernized view of karma, how
consciousness creates via universal law, explore uncovering past
lives and how they may be still affecting you, and taking a peek
at the Akashic Records for our soul’s purpose.
Travis James Sanders' unique story began at an early age, but
took a major turn at the age of 16, when a psychic reading
changed the course of his life forever. At 27, Travis is a young
but accomplished Psychic Medium, who has appeared on
national television regarding his work with Spirit. Travis has been

Using Divination Tools
Overview
Divination tools are an easy and enjoyable way to
interact with energies. Their history is as old as
humankind and yet they continue to be applied
today in spite of all the scientific advances we’ve achieved. Come and
enjoy hands-on experience with a variety of these amazing tools.
What makes a physical sign or item a good method of engaging and
interpreting energy? Ancient civilizations in India, Egypt and China
applied divination tools successfully. What, if any value might they have
still today? Experiment with a variety of divination tools in this highly
experiential workshop. We will enjoy discussing many of the tools and
methods that can be easily applied to obtain information and guidance
for practical assistance and insights. Participants are encouraged to
bring any tools (dowsing rods, pendulums, colored flashlights, I Ching,
etc.) they have. We will be experimenting with everything.

misunderstood. Let’s explore the so called phenomena to increase our
knowledge and gain confidence with these experiences.
We will enjoy learning about psychic experiences and address these
questions: What is it? Where does it come from? Are there any rules?
And why did it occur? Can everyone engage their psychic senses and
have a personal experience? Is it a parlor game or could there be real
value in understanding and applying psychic skills? Can I improve my
abilities to apply these senses? Bring your own questions and your
curiosity along to this workshop and enjoy participating!

Spiritual Healing as an Everyday Adventure

Overview
So you’ve learned about auras and about
chakras. You know the theoretical material and can even repeat
the colors that are associated with such. How do you move into
using this material in your everyday life? Even further, how do
you use this material for bringing spiritual healing into the world
around you?
This six hour workshop will help each student focus on what to
do with what they have learned. We’ll review contracts, ethical
considerations, and professional spiritual standards when it
comes to the work of Spiritual Healing. We’ll also explore when
to, and when not to, open ourselves to be a channel for spiritual
energy to work through us. Participants will also come to see
that there are unique “callings” regarding being a Spiritual Healer
and that some may be called into this work every day of their
lives. Attention will be given on how to stay sane as an everyday
spiritual healer!

Drum Circle Fun!

Overview
Drum Circle consists of learning rhythms and having fun! We will
learn rhythms with hands, snaps, drums, and other noise
makers. Also included is a rhythm bath, which is an experience
you don’t want to miss. You will learn how to follow a leader in a
drum circle and you can be a leader yourself. After playing
around for a while, we will learn a few simple Middle Eastern
rhythms.
Everyone is encouraged to dance whenever the spirit moves
you! If you have drums, noise makers, pots and pans, whatever,
please bring them. I will bring my assortment of drums and toys
to share.
Mona Mehas was trained as a Middle Eastern drummer 15 years
ago. She drummed for a while in for a belly-dance troupe in
Greenwood. She has facilitated several drum circles and was a
guest drummer for a yoga class in Carmel. Mona is a retired
teacher having taught in Indianapolis Public Schools for 21
years. She has been a Spiritualist for over 20 years and she
follows the Eastern Philosophies. She is a mother of 1 daughter
and a grandmother to twin boys. Mona is an animal lover and
advocate and volunteers at the Hamilton County Humane
Society. Her other gifts include spirit communication, leading
meditation, and she is a Kundalini Reiki Master.

What You Need To Know When Helping Others

Overview
Post-Traumatic Stress has become a major factor
when working with the public these days. The news
media bombards us with stories of returning
Veterans and how they and their families are
impacted by PTSD. Persons in our congregations and in our work
environments are challenged by the cycles that accompany PTSS. Our
own family members may be operating out of patterns of behavior
related to PTS and it is important that we understand situations that can
lead to behavioral responses limited by PTS.
In the morning session we will define Post-Traumatic Stress and all its
many stages. In the afternoon session we will focus upon situations that
can cause the development of PTS and patterns of behavior that can
lead to Post-Traumatic Stress Syndrome. After break we will focus
upon Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. Special emphasis will be upon
“Soul Recovery,” the primary model of care being used by Veteran
hospitals.
Be prepared that this workshop will be intense at times and may bring
into your awareness the presence of Post-Traumatic Stress in your own
life. While not a time for personal therapy, there will be moments of
sharing in both small groups and with the larger group. Addictions,
cutting, and suicidal behavior will be addressed during the day.

In this workshop we will explore the origin of the ancient Japanese Zen gardens and then create our own, to be uniquely our

consider and explore what our choices in materials say about us
and what we want our garden to reflect. We will practice using
our gardens in meditation to push away negative thoughts while
pulling positive ones toward us.

Joseph Campbell’s seminal work, The Hero with a
Thousand Faces, set forth the archetype of the
hero’s quest found in all world culture. The myths define the stages of
the hero’s journey, what motivates his quest, what obstacles one faces,

spiritual wisdom, or “the pearl of great price.” As we look at the Hindu
story of Arjuna, the Egyptian myth of Horus and the Biblical story of

Rev. Normandi Ellis, a clairvoyant minister residing at Camp
Chesterfield, has also worked as a spiritual leader of transformative

The Art of Candle Ceremony

Overview
This is an introduction to Candle Ceremony. In
this workshop you will learn about the history
of candles, what candles can do in your
everyday life, and how different religions celebrate their seasons with
candles.
We will also explore the use of candles in different ceremonies used
in everyday life, and throughout the year. We will talk about
“Candlemas” and the anointing of your candles with different oils. We
will also explore the best day to put in new candles for spiritual purposes. We will talk about the different directions and intentions of the
candles. We will explore the Candle Colors and their meanings. We
will talk about the different Rays and their meanings, and how to best
prepare a Sanctuary for your Candle Ceremony, as well as the things
that you will need to set up your altar. We will talk about Healing with
candles. We will be making and decorating our own candles for you to
take home, in order to place on your own altar. If you don’t already
have one, you will learn how to set up your own altar, so when you go
home, you will have the basics to set up your own altar, in a way for it
to work for you and Spirit!
Tom Roberge has attended Historic Camp Chesterfield since Spring
in 2000. He has attended numerous classes to acquire his Healing
and Medium Missionary Certificates. He teaches Candle
Ceremony in multiple venues around the state, and facilitates a
Mediumship Message Circle at HeartSpace in Greenwood, IN.
