Wish you had gotten
Phil's cool glasses? You
still have a chance! Phil
left some extras after
his visit. We will continue passing them out
while supplies last.
With a strong leap from 7th place last week to 2nd place this
week, and increase in fundraising from $970 to $2,020 AND
proof that middle school students can care....congratulations to
the Phoenix of 7B for winning the Phil's Challenge Traveling
Trophy this week.
We know you are all working so hard....keep pushing in this last
week. We currently have about $25,000 toward our $40,000
goal.
Middle School Career Day
On April 24, 2015, we will have Career Day for the Middle School. The
students are very interested in learning
about what YOU do! Doctors, financial advisors, engineers, accountants,
lawyers, artist, architects, scientists,
professional athletes…the list goes on
and on. We are seeking speakers who
will engage students and help open
their eyes to a range of career opportunities, help students make a connection between their school work and
future, and give them a realistic view
of the workplace. Speakers will also
discuss educational and skill requirements for entering their field.
If you are interested in participating in
Career Day as a guest speaker, please
call 682-5847 or email Martina Eason
easonm@icdurham.org or Jennifer Stutz
stutzj@icdurham.org. Thanks in advance!

Technology Team Update
from Ms. Korelich
I am excited to announce that Melissa
Provost will be joining the ICS IT
team to address the ever growing technology needs of our school as parttime Technology Specialist in addition
to Bill Healy. Melissa, who is currently working with Mrs. Caruso and
2B in the mornings, will receive training in the technology department in
the afternoons starting March 17th
until the end of the school year. Next
year she will support technology in the
mornings. Melissa will help with dayto-day troubleshooting of desktops,
laptops, iPads, Surface RTs, Chromebooks, online subscriptions and textbooks, online databases (TeacherPlus
gradebook, PlusPortals, Office 365,
Google Apps for Education), educational software and other IT projects.
Melissa has 20 years of experience in
the financial industry. Most of that
time was spent either as a liaison between technology groups and the business lines they supported or playing
varied roles within technology
groups. For eight years, she managed
a help desk that provided technical
support to approximately 300 users. Melissa's main responsibility was
ensuring client applications were operating properly. She was also responsible for diagnosing and troubleshooting issues that arose on those client
applications. In addition, she provided training to clients and new hires
on a suite of applications. Melissa
was involved in the testing and release
of application enhancements and new
applications into production environments. She is also an ICS parent to
Katie (7th) and Matthew (3rd).
