She has been involved in multiple service projects, including helping collect food for families at Thanksgiving and helping a local dog shelter strip their floors, saving them over a thousand dollars. She attends Kainay Community Church where she is involved in Cowboy Church at horse shows. She will attend the University of Tennessee at Martin to major in business marketing and will participate in their Women’s Equestrian program. Alex Rop, son of Ron and Kristi Rop of Fruitport Township, is a member of Calvin Christian Reformed Church and is active in the youth group there. He has been on mission trips to Washington D.C. and Newark, New Jersey; another mission trip to Nicaragua is planned in June. He was a varsity soccer player, earning first team All-State allconference, all district and all region honors. He also played varsity basketball and ran track. Alex will attend Muskegon Community College and transfer later to a four-year university to study environmental engineering. Bailey Makena Mines, daughter of Todd and Kelly Mines, has been a member of the volleyball, basketball, soccer and tennis teams. She has been an assistant small group leader and has led her own small group. She was a member of the student council. Bailey serves at Grace Adventures Christian camp, volunteers for VBS at her church and works at Norton Pines in the childcare department. She will attend Grace Bible College in Grand Rapids, majoring in elementary education with a minor in Bible. Page 22 • May 2014 • Fruitport Area News
