Congratulations Class of 2014
T
he Class of 2014 made its walk down the Christ Church Sanctuary aisle on June 3.The
event was attended by excited families, friends and fellow students. The commencement
ceremony was a beautiful celebration of these young students’ elementary school careers
highlighting the many ways that they have excelled academically, physically and spiritually.
The ceremony began with an invocation by Pastor Brett Opalinski followed by the traditional
student color guard of three fifth graders leading the Pledge of Allegiance and a rendition of
“God Bless America.” Principal Bonham welcomed everyone to the ceremony and spoke
briefly about how proud she was of each graduate. Mrs. Kelly, Curriculum Coordinator,
with the assistance of Fifth Grade teachers Mrs. Fletcher and
Mr. Metzger, presented a variety of awards to the graduates.

After the awards were completed, Pastor Opalinski shared an
inspiring message and reminded students that God loves

CCS will take part in re-accreditation visits from FCIS, FKC, SACS and AISF during
the 2014 – 2015 school year. As a part of these re-accreditation visits and in order
to retain membership in FCIS, CCS must successfully meet the standards found in
FCIS Bylaws & Standards Manual, demonstrate financial stability, provide quality
education, and successfully undergo evaluation visits. As you can imagine, these
visits have required a great deal of work on the part of the faculty, staff, PTO,
Development Council and our School Board. This work will continue until the
re-accreditation team arrives in March 2015 and throughout their visit.
The extensive time and effort put forth so far has been admirable. The entire
school community has been instrumental in this preparation. I appreciate the
assistance and am blessed to lead an excellent group of educators. As the
evaluation team experiences an environment of learning that is safe,
academically challenging and filled with God’s grace, I am confident the results of
the report will be stellar.
I would like to express my appreciation to everyone who has participated in the
preparation for this visit. We are looking forward to this process and hope you will
join us in welcoming the team members. If you have any questions about the reaccreditation process, please feel free to contact me at tbonham@ccsfl.org.

Welcome Grandparents
O
n Friday, March 7, students, faculty and staff welcomed grandparents and “grandfriends” to our
campus. As always, it was a wonderful day. The day started with a reception in the gym followed
by songs and presentations from students in all grade levels. Grandparents were also treated to
several videos showcasing the exceptional academic and enrichment programs at CCS.
This year’s grandparent representatives, Sara and Travis Johnson, enjoyed listening to all of the children
sing and visiting their granddaughter’s classroom. They had the opportunity to speak with the
classroom teacher and look at their granddaughter’s impressive artwork. The Johnsons are the
grandparents of rising fourth grader, Sheyenne
Johnson.
The Johnsons have a long-standing relationship
with Christ Church School. Mrs. Johnson served as
the Office Manager for almost 25 years. She and
Travis are strong Christians and are believers in the
mission of Christ Church School. We would like to
extend our thanks to the Johnsons and all of our
grandparents for their continued support of our
school. We truly appreciate each and every one of
them!

It was another fabulous year for the SSYRA Program at CCS! Not
only did students enjoy reading the selection of books chosen by
the Florida State Committee, they also voted for their favorite
book along with other participating Florida students. This year’s
book winner of the Sunshine State Young Reader’s Award in the
third through fifth grade level was The Candymakers written by
Wendy Mass. It was exciting to see our students motivated to
read, encouraging one another, and talking about the books.
For the students that read seven or more books, we ended the
program with a luncheon in the library. During the luncheon, the
students ate food mentioned in the stories and guessed which
book each food was from. They also played book trivia.
There were seven students that read all 15 books, and
they each received a $25 gift certificate to a local
bookstore.
Thank you to all the students that participated in this
fun reading program and to their
parents for their support. For

CCS Alumni are doing great things
Westminster Academy®
CCS was well represented at
Westminster Academy’s end-of-of-theyear awards banquet and high school
graduation. Many CCS alumni received
special recognition. These awards are
listed below.
Niko Kalomeris just completed his
Junior year at Westminster Academy.
Niko is a member of the National
Honor Society and spent this past year
serving as the Vice President of the
Student Council. Congratulations Niko!
Caroline Kamm was an active and
highly successful member of this year’s
graduating class. She is a member of
the National Honor Society and served
as the Valedictorian for the class of
2014. Caroline will attend the
University of Central Florida in the fall.
Kudos Caroline!
Alex Pagliaro, an active member of the
National Honor Society, was one of
only two students who received the
Westminster Alumni Scholarship. She
was also given the Guy Metzger
Christian Service Award and was
presented with the C.L.A.S.S. Award.
The C.L.A.S.S. Award is Westminster
Academy’s highest award for student
athletes. It is awarded to students that
display Christ-likeness, dynamic
leadership, academic excellence, a
servant attitude and good
sportsmanship. We are so proud of all
of Alex’s accomplishments and look
forward to hearing about her
experiences and achievements at
North Greenville University, where she
will attend on an academic and
athletic scholarship.
