This drawing inspired several of his following works." GARRETT PETERSON "Garrett's concentration was tattoos on paper. Often his subject matter explored his political views and commentary on society. He already has an individualistic style of art." DILLION COX "Dillion has great ideas. He put his ideas down onto paper. He had a quick, sketchy style. This work was done in colored pencil." WIEDA'S OPINION: SENIOR ADVANCED-PLACEMENT ART STUDENT PROJECTS JOEY NIELSEN "Joey did the most exploration of different media. She often used portraiture for subject matter. This is a picture of the rap singer Drake in conte crayon." LOGAN HEMPHILL "Logan is very good at detail and capturing the essence of something. Who else can do faded cardboard? He has the patience to do detail." BREANNA KIXMILLER "This metamorphic assignment requires students to change or grow from one subject to another. Breanna grew phenomenally this year as an art student." CLOSE DETAIL - Junior Harison Richter works on perfecting his canvas painting. By Turner Russell Art plays a major role for students to express their creativity. Those heavily involved in the art program spend hours on various projects ranging from drawing fruit in Basic Art to crafting elaborate designs on clay bowls and figures in Ceramics. AHS students are offered a large assortment of classes for specific branches of art. Some of the classes offered are Painting, Ceramics, Drawing, Photography and AP Art. Basic art classes are also offered. This year seniors who had already taken Basic Art, Drawing 1 and Drawing 2 came together to form an AP (Advanced Placement) class. According to AP student Dillion Cox, AP Art is a "closed group" that aims to show the artistic talent of AHS in the Hawkeye 10 art show, while they also get college credit for their work. Senior Kaiya Williams stepped up and got good grades. Senior Hailey Waters bought a car. Junior Ashleigh Waltz was proud of Every 15 Minutes because it made her think about every decision. HALLWAY WORK - Senior Jordan Shely works on sketching one of her projects at eye level in the hallway outside of the art room. SORTING THROUGH THE STACK - Freshman Taylor Andersen sorts through her art projects on the front desk during her 8th period basic art class.
