By her twenties, Anna found herself unemployable and addicted to sleeping pills and cocaine. Today she’s
over 10 years sober, the author of four books (two novels, one anthology, and one memoir, all published
by HarperCollins) and numerous articles (for The New York Times, The LA Times, Playboy, People, Vanity
Fair, Cosmo, and Details, among many others) and the Executive Editor of the popular addiction and
recovery site, TheFix.com. She’s also a regular on CBS, Fox News, CNN and was the sex, dating and

Barry Scott is recognized as one of the most versatile practitioners of his art. The founder of the
American Negro Playwright Theatre at Tennessee State University, where his parents and grandparents
graduated, Scott also has acting credits on television’s “I’ll Fly Away” and “In the Heat of the Night.”
He is a member of the Screen Actors Guild, Actor’s Equity Association, American Film Radio &
Television Association and serves on the board of the Tennessee Arts Commission. All programs are

“Tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.” - An authority on the life and works of Dr. Martin Luther
King, Jr., Barry Scott created his tribute to Dr. King to teach a generation of students about one of

changed the world. In this hour long program, Mr. Scott discusses Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and
the Civil Rights Movement in his lecture and actually becomes Dr. King recreating some of his most
inspiring speeches.

Character Development/Motivation/Personal Growth
Employing an unusual mix of comedy, monologue, and multimedia, as well as a lifetime
of bizarre experience, Barry Smith presents insightful, entertaining adventures of his
own self discovery. Smith’s “modern monologues” employ an audio-visual element
with a 21st century appeal that quickly grabs hold of students’ interest. “Think David
Sedaris and Spalding Gray with a whole lot of audio and

In Every Job I’ve Ever Had Smith uses his multimedia savvy to recount the childish fantasies of possibility
and fear when presented with the most dreaded concept of our generation: the workplace. Presenting an
endearing message, “Follow your bliss,” this show offers proof that we can find the life we want for ourselves,
not just the life that we are dutifully goaded into. Students will leave this show inspired, enlivened, and
sore from laughter.
All Roads Lead To Your Own Path: Adventures in a Doomsday Cult (alternate title, Jesus in Montana:
Adventures in a Doomsday Cult) has received accolades from The New York Times as well as numerous
awards. It is a timely tale of one man’s search for truth, revealing how even the most misguided quest, if
undertaken with passion, can be a worthwhile journey.
Me, My Stuff and I is a funny and affecting multimedia comedy about
our relationship with “stuff.” The show examines how we attempt to hold on to our memories as a
way of defining ourselves. “Both hilarious and poignant,” says The Vancouver Province, “this show will
make you think about your own life in entirely new ways.”
Able to “channel laughter’s deeper cathartic powers,” Smith’s
American Squatter plays to the young rebels without a cause,
engaging with a heartfelt and amusing message on how we can “find
ourselves” in all sorts of strange places — and that rebellion may not
always be what we think it is.

The Ongoing Story of Your Life: A “Time Capsule” Approach to Journaling is a hands-on workshop

Chase Whiteside
LGBT Issues/Media and Journalism/Political Discourse
Chase Whiteside is a documentary filmmaker, journalist, and the founder of New Left Media.
Whiteside is perhaps best known for his coverage of the evolving “Tea Party” movement. His short
films, which IndieWire called “a perfect example of where documentary form and style is headed,” have
been seen more than 6 million times online and featured in whole or in part by the BBC, MTV, Bill
Moyers’ Journal, The Ed Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Current TV, the Washington Post, Vanity Fair, Roger
Ebert’s Journal, The Nation, and the Daily Show’s Indecision Blog, among others. Whiteside blogs for
the Huffington Post and is a contributor to MTV’s 365Gay.com. He is currently writing a book about
the deteriorating state of the news media to be published by Picador in Spring 2012.

How do you take your news? Today, Tweets and Facebook status updates can foment political change in authoritarian countries, but
when tasked with explaining complex issues and legislation here in America, they fall tragically short. Chase Whiteside of New Left
Media has been in the trenches of our fevered political debate, urging the sign-carriers on both the Right and the Left to abandon
their talking points for a real conversation about the concerns we face today. —How can we be informed participants in a democracy
without quality information and knowledge about our government? How will we progress if we can’t even agree on the facts from
which to premise public debate, over things like healthcare reform or the size of government? The narratives that drive our national
conversation are good for television ratings but bad for our democracy, encouraging hyperbole and partisanship at the expense of
accuracy and nuance.

Deanna Latson
Nutrition/Wellness/Athlete Training
Deanna Latson has been involved full time in the field of health and wellness since 1999 and has served
as a consultant, spokesperson, writer and guest lecturer for some of the largest colleges, universities and
corporations in the world. Her clients include over 400 college and universities, corporations such as
Smart Water, Pepsi Co. International, the American Heart Association and AT&T. She is also a regular
guest expert on Fox, NBC, and San Diego Living TV.
Deanna has been an NCAA grant-approved speaker for over 7 years, speaking to college sports teams
about their health and well being. She also has been a sought-after motivational speaker in the field of
health and wellness for over a decade.
Deanna is living proof that it is possible to completely transform one’s own life through proper education and nutrition. During
college, both Deanna’s parents became ill with life-threatening diseases, a situation that spurred Deanna’s own impetus to change
her focus towards nutrition, especially because she had battled with an eating disorder for 11 years as well as numerous other health
problems that had plagued her throughout her life. It was after her parents had an amazing transformation in their health, and after
Deanna herself healed her own body, that she decided to combine her two passions and apply her speaking talents to the topic of health
and wellness. She holds a Bachelors degree in Communication Studies with a special emphasis on organizational communication and
a Master’s degree in Communication Studies with a special emphasis on health communications. Deanna also received her Clinical
Nutritionist degree from the Natural Healing Institute. Over the past 16 years, Deanna has been dedicated to her own research and

LGBT Issues/Diversity
Is it possible to have a productive conversation about LGBT issues? One side labels the other sinners
or deviants and dismisses them as beyond redemption. The other side labels the first as haters or bigots
and—in much the same way—treats them as lost causes. There’s a lot of name-calling, but very little
effort at understanding.
That’s where Dr. John Corvino comes in. Using his trademark combination of logical precision,
sensitivity, and humor, he challenges people from all sides to rethink easy assumptions. His new
program, “Haters, Sinners, and the Rest of Us: The Gay Debate Today,” draws on his two decades of speaking experience to bring fresh
insight into the culture wars.
Other programs include the classic “What’s Morally Wrong with Homosexuality?” (now available on DVD) which confronts and dismantles
some of the most common objections to same-sex relationships; “Born or Made—and What’s the Difference?” (on the nature/nurture
debate) and “Coming Out Skeptical” (on analogies between coming out as a gay man and coming out as an atheist).
For many years Corvino was known as “The Gay Moralist,” a regular columnist for LOGO’s 365gay.com and other websites. He has also
contributed to dozens of scholarly books and journals. As a philosophy professor, he has academic credentials that make him a good choice
for campuses that appreciate faculty support for their programming.
Corvino is currently working on a book with Maggie Gallagher, Debating Same-Sex Marriage, for Oxford
University Press, and he is available for debates on marriage, religion, and other controversial issues.

Social Justice/Diversity/LGBT Issues/Recruitment and Retention
Jessica Pettitt is the “diversity educator” your family warned you about. She is easy to work with,
accessible, and teaches VERY simple concepts that can be hard to put into action. Jessica gets
participants uncomfortable enough to incorporate - not just talk about - social justice into their
lives immediately.
Nominated for two years by Campus Activities Magazine for “Best Diversity Artist,” Jessica’s

Kimberly Dark is both a sociologist and an award winning storyteller and performer. She brings
twenty years of experience as a facilitator and trainer to diversity programs, and her workshops and

“Last Words”: Death Penalty Debate
Political Issues/Non-Violence
An informative one-man show based on the last words spoken from America’s
death row inmates, this Kenny Carnes’ original performance incorporates an
anthology of words, stories and emotions designed to humanize, sensitize, and
educate us to the cycle of violence. “Last Words” is a truth-based fictional story
culminating from hundreds of actual inmates, victims, families, guards, wardens and politicians synthesized
into a performance art piece that is punctuated by a diverse collection of real last word testimony from
various inmates. LAST WORDS captivates, enlightens and shocks while revealing the human faces in
America’s most unlikely places. Audiences act as jury to decide a sentence of life or death for the inmates
challenging us to question our own sense of social justice, political involvement, and participation in a non-violent world. Amnesty
International spokesperson, Kristin Houlé, says, “Kenny Carnes humanizes us where we do not expect to find our humanity.”

deepens our understanding generated by his arts-based dialogues. His experience in holistic/integral

An informative one-man show written in rhapsodic verse, this thirty,
forty-five, or sixty minute performance delivers a rapid-fire cadence of
rhyme and rhythm to weave a portfolio of stories from three generations
of American heroes. This Kenny Carnes original performance examines
violence, social justice, peace, patriotism, and civic duty by poetically rewritten narratives of
American soldiers from WWII, Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan. Based on interviews, observations,
and Kenny Carnes’ personal experiences as an army officer, “Pieces of War” provides resolution of
personal and political conflict, understanding through awareness and tolerance, and unites audiences
in a common dialogue surrounding the universal journey of the hero in us all. March beside an

As a handful of states embrace same-sex marriage, others ban it, and still others consider it, what
should thinking citizens do? John Corvino and Maggie Gallagher— two of the nation’s leading and
opposing voices on this issue—bring clarity, passion, and thoughtfulness to this divisive topic.
Corvino is a philosophy professor at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. He is also known
as “The Gay Moralist,” a regular columnist for 365gay.com and other venues. He has contributed to
dozens of scholarly journals and anthologies, and he is currently collaborating with Gallagher on a
book, Debating Same-Sex Marriage, forthcoming from Oxford University Press.

Gallagher is Chairman and co-founder of the National Organization for Marriage, which the
Washington Post called the “pre-eminent national organization” fighting to protect marriage as the
union of husband and wife. She is a nationally syndicated columnist and the author of three books
on marriage including (with Linda J. Waite) The Case for Marriage: Why Married People are Happier,
Healthier and Better-Off Financially.

Stacey was recently released from prison where she served 18 years for fatally shooting the man who
raped her from ages 8 through 18. That man was her father. The governor granted her clemency
in 2009, and within 6 days, she walked out of the prison gates. Through the power of love and
forgiveness, she created a meaningful life for herself from behind bars, helping troubled teens find
strength to tell their stories of abuse through a program called Outreach. She even helped two of them
prosecute their abusers. Her topics of discussion include: How to spot sexual and emotional abuse
and what to do about it; The importance of speaking up, telling the truth and never being ashamed
of who you are; The power of hope, forgiveness and helping others; And the legal system that can
still be antiquated in how it deals with sexual abuse and women. In May 2009, Stacey brought her
message to “The Oprah Winfrey Show” and she has also appeared on “Nancy Grace,” “20/20,” “Larry
King Live,” “Piers Morgan Tonight,” “The Joy Behar Show,” and “Montel Williams.” She has created
a popular, active non-profit organization and website called HealingSisters.org with a message to help others however she can. Stacey
doesn’t believe that any of us are victims no matter what we’ve been through. As we work on ourselves

The Afro-Latin Project
The drums, dances, voices, and costumes of this ensemble fill large spaces with the exuberant
colors, movements, and sounds which developed in Latin America as a direct result of the African
presence there. The irresistible energy of the Afro-Latin Project celebrates the powerful African
influence found in the music and cultures of Latin America, an influence which has spread
throughout the world. Cuban “rumbas” and songs honoring the Orishas (deities) of Cuban
mythology, Colombian “bullerengues,” Puerto Rican “bombas,” Brazilian “maculelés” and
“capoeiras,” Panamanian “cumbias,” Peruvian “festejos”, Venezuelan “tambores” - all of these
dance and song traditions are but a sampler of what the Afro-Latin has to offer, as it brings to
life the many facets of the African condition in Latin America, from the arrival of the slaves to today’s revival of African-influenced
music in Latin America. Great for formal concerts as well as outdoor events, the group is comprised of 10 – 15 members and offers

An Dóchas and the Haran Irish Dancers
An Dóchas, Irish for “The Hope,” is a young Irish band with cross-cultural
influences, presenting traditional Irish music fused with the energy of
rock and the versatility of folk. A driving rhythm section of guitar, bass,
and drums supports traditional instruments including the Uilleann pipes,
whistles, Bodhrán, and fiddle. The band incorporates moving ballads as well
as rowdy, comical vocals into their sets creating an emotionally dynamic
performance to accompany explosive Irish step dancing. The Haran Irish
Dancers have been performing for over a decade in America, Austria, and
Japan, and have had multiple appearances at the Irish Step Dancing World
Championships. Together, An Dóchas and the Haran Irish Dancers have
performed to sold-out
audiences throughout the U.S. An Dochas’ 2006 release, Dragonfly Redux, was awarded
Celtic Instrumental Album of the Year by Just Plain Folks Worldwide Music Awards, and

Kungfu Theatre: Tales from the Beijing Opera
“Kungfu Theatre: Tales from the Beijing Opera” is a selection of comic and dramatic scenes from
some of China’s most popular stories. Drawn from Chinese history, mythology, and folklore, and
performed in both Chinese and English, this colorful show is fun for audiences of all ages. In a
full show, several 20 - 45 minute long stories are performed using English and Chinese dialogue,
music, dance, mime, acrobatics, stage fighting, and singing. This show is as visual and exciting as it
is cultural and educational. In spite of the high art connotations of its name, Beijing Opera is loud
and colorful. The performers are professionally trained Chinese
Beijing Opera actors, most of whom began performing before
the age of ten. Now living in the U.S., the ensemble is
looking to create art that is relevant to American culture
while remaining true to the rigorous standards of Chinese
theatre. Accessible and entertaining to non-Chinese
speaking audiences, the current touring show is made
up of four performers, a musician, and a stage manager
and has been a hit nationwide for multicultural events,
performance arts series, Asian celebrations, and family
and community events. Each program is followed by a “meet and greet” allowing the audience

Richard Hight is a living artist who paints like a dead one! It all happens within minutes—at times

Comedy Killers: Murder Mysteries
Each show features a variety of different casts, endings, and themes to allow flexibility
in both time and budget. Most shows range from a cast of five to six and each can be
adapted to be between 90 mins and 3 hours in length making this a great experience for
small groups to audiences of over 400 people. Beginning with a “soft start,” characters
mingle with small groups of guests as they arrive. Once all the guests are accounted
for, the show takes place in four adaptable parts that are scripted and polished to be
sure each and every guest has access and exposure to all the clues needed to solve the
crime. Just before the solving of the crime, each guest fills out a sheet indicating who
they think did it. Although there are many possible endings, there is only one clear
correct answer per show, but everyone can be a winner depending on the number of

Photo Booth
Our Photo Booth is 7’ tall, 5’ wide, and 3.5’ deep and includes unlimited photo
booth sessions during your event. Each session takes four pictures which are then
printed moments later on a single 4” x 6” index print for the participants to keep.
The photo booth is manned by an attendant who will be present during the entire
event to assist in operating the booth. Additionally, after your event, you will receive
a CD of all shots taken. Customize your Photo Booth! You can choose a background
color of red, brown, blue, or pink and can also add a custom message or logo to the

Born in China, Joe Wong was fascinated by the vibrant American culture and moved to the United States
in 1994. After earning a Ph.D. in Biochemistry at Rice University, Joe enrolled in stand-up, acting, and
improvisational comedy classes. In 2009, Wong made his debut on the “Late Show with David Letterman”
and was offered a sitcom development deal with Letterman’s production company, Worldwide Pants. Since
then, Joe has appeared on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” “Ellen’s Bigger Longer and Wider Show,” and will

Dean Edwards
Dean Edwards has been making his mark in comedy following two successful seasons as

Mo Mandel is a talented young comedian and actor who stars opposite Hank Azaria on NBC’s FREE

the hit show CHELSEA LATELY. Mandel has also appeared on MODERN FAMILY, CONAN,
LOVE BITES, CRAIG FERGUSON, and in his own highly rated COMEDY CENTRAL HALF

Ali Wong
Ali Wong has performed on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno”, the FOX series “Breaking In,”

Emma in NBC’s FREE AGENTS debuting Fall 2011. She is also starring in Comedy Central’s hit show
UGLY AMERICANS and NICK SWARDON’S PRETEND TIME. You’ve seen her on three seasons of
RENO 911 as well as IT’S ALWAYS SUNNY IN PHILADELPHIA, and THE SARAH SILVERMAN

Heather is a full-time writer and story producer on E!’s Chelsea Lately. She can be seen weekly on the

seen in the ‘mockumentary-style’ series After Lately, which chronicles the shenanigans of the Chelsea
Lately cast and crew. Heather is also a best-selling author: her debut book, You’ll Never Blue Ball in this
Town Again, spent seven weeks on the New York Times best-seller list.
Brian Posehn
Comedian/actor/writer Brian Posehn played Brian Spukowski on Comedy Central’s popular show,
“The Sarah Silverman Program” and has recently been seen on tour as one of the original members
of the “Comedians of Comedy”. Besides writing and performing on HBO’s acclaimed “Mr. Show”,
he has appeared in sitcoms such as “Just Shoot Me”, “Seinfeld”, “NewsRadio”, “Everybody Loves
Raymond”, and “Friends” and in the films Rob Zombie’s “The Devil’s Rejects,” “Fantastic Four: Rise

Bo Burnham
Bo Burnham is a teenager and comedian. In 2006, he wrote songs, posted them online, and lots of people
saw them. Then, he started playing live shows. He played at colleges, clubs, and theaters. People came. In August of 2008, four days after his eighteenth birthday, he became the youngest person to record a
“Comedy Central Presents” special. He released a CD in March 2009. Some people think he is funny.
Adam Ferrara
A series regular on the Emmy-nominated hit FX TV show ‘Rescue Me,’ Adam Ferrara stars as Chief Needles
Nelson. Adam also hosts History’s highly anticipated BBC import “Top Gear.” Some of Adam’s screen roles have
included: Universal Pictures’ ‘Definitely Maybe’ with Ryan Reynolds and Isla Fisher. And in Sony’s smash hit

Judah Friedlander
Judah Friedlander is a comic’s comic and a crowd-pleaser. In his stand-up act, Judah is the WORLD
CHAMPION. He’s a great athlete, master of the martial arts, gets tons of chicks & is a role model to
children. And he’s better than you at everything. He’s currently a series regular on the Thursday night NBC
comedy 30 ROCK , co-starring with Tina Fey & Alec Baldwin. Judah’s book How To Beat Up Anybody was
published in 2010 by HarperCollins. Judah’s been in over 20 movies including American Splendor, Duane

John Heffron
John Heffron burst onto the comedic scene during the prime of his college heyday, but after winning the
second season of NBC’s Last Comic Standing, his popularity grew tremendously. John’s amusing and extensive
material has earned him two half hour specials and a one-hour special on the hit stand up show Comedy Central
Presents. He has become a regular on numerous VH1 satire series including I love the 80s: 3D, I Love the 70s:
Volume 2, and My Coolest Years: My First Time. In addition to being featured on Thom Filicia’s Dress My Nest,
Heffron has performed on CMT’s Coming to the Stage, NBC’s Late Friday, and Comedy Central’s Premium

Anjelah Johnson
Anjelah Johnson was a professional cheerleader for the Oakland Raiders and later appeared on “MADtv”
as a series regular which spawned the internet sensations “Nail Salon” and “Bon Qui Qui.” Johnson can
be seen as a live-action character in the film Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel. She also starred
in Our Family Wedding and lent her voice to the animated film Marmaduke. She currently resides in Los
Angeles and continues to tour with her stand up show, and she is the new spokesperson for Taco Cabana.

Norm MacDonald
Perhaps best known for his offbeat delivery of “the fake news” on “Saturday Night Live” for five
seasons, Norm MacDonald is a major comedic presence. Aside from his notable characterizations
of Bob Dole and Burt Reynolds, MacDonald proved that his acerbic wit and writing were not to be
contained to just the small screen. MacDonald starred in the film Dirty Work, which he also cowrote; and, as the voice of Lucky the Dog in the Eddie Murphy hit, in Dr. Doolittle. Macdonald was
also seen in Billy Madison with Adam Sandler, and in Milos Foreman’s Academy Award-nominated
The People Vs. Larry Flint.
John Oliver
John Oliver has been a writer and correspondent on Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show with Jon
Stewart” since 2006. As a result of his popularity on “The Daily Show,” Comedy Central asked John to
write and star in his own one hour stand-up special, “Terrifying Times,” which premiered in April 2008.
John starred in the Mike Myer’s movie, The Love Guru and is currently appearing in a recurring role in
the NBC series, “Community.” In 2010 John debuted a series for Comedy Central, “John Oliver’s New
York Stand-Up Show.” In 2009 John won the Emmy Award for “Best Comedy Writing In A Comedy
or Variety Series.”
Patton Oswalt

Siegel’s feature film Big Fan, which made its
debut at Sundance in January ’09 and was
distributed by First Independent Pictures. As a
comedian, Patton has shot three TV specials, two
critically acclaimed albums, and has received a
Grammy nomination for “Best Comedy Album.”
Currently a series regular on Showtime’s “United States of Tara,” Patton has also
appeared as a guest star on “The Sarah Silverman Program” and “Flight of the
Conchords.” He was on SyFy’s series “Caprica.” Patton provided the voice for
‘Remy,’ the rat, in Pixar’s Oscar winning Ratatouille. He’s appeared in more than
20 films, including Magnolia, Starsky and Hutch and Reno 911!: Miami. Patton’s
first published book Spaceship Zombie Wasteland has recently been released and
was on the New York Times Best Seller List for January 2011. In May 2011,
Patton filmed his newest hour special Patton Oswalt Finest Hour which will air
on Showtime and Comedy Central. Patton is currently working on the new
Adult Swim live-action TV series The Heart, She Holler and can be seen in the
upcoming film with Johnny Knoxville Scoutmasters.

and “Comedy Stage.”
Christopher Titus
Employing what he’s labeled “hard funny,” Christopher Titus has released three ninety-minute albums
in as many years. He has three one-hour comedy specials currently running on Comedy Central. From
his one-man show “Norman Rockwell is Bleeding,” the dark comedy, “Titus,” was born on Fox. The
show earned Titus a Writer’s Guild nomination as well as an Emmy nomination, and Newsday called
him “TV’s most original voice since Seinfeld.” Titus’ newest one-man show, “Love Is Evol,” recently
premiered on Comedy Central. He is currently working on his newest one-man show, “Neverlution.”
Titus appeared as ‘Brody,’ in ABC’s “Big Shots” and his latest comedy central special, “Neverlution”
debuted July 2011.
