15 Years of Excellence
Back in 1994, Steve Nelson had a vision for a company that
would lead the CCTV monitoring industry. The Company would
secure premises across the world, protect thousands of staff and
increase the profitability of its clients. Priding itself on the level of
service it would provide, this company would set the benchmark
for others to follow. 15 years later this vision has been realised…
The early 1990’s was a difficult time for the
UK economy. The recession had hit UK
Companies hard and although Security
remained high on the agenda for most, many
were forced to look at ways of reducing costs.
One such area which came under the
microscope was the cost of manned guards.
With his detailed knowledge of both the CCTV
& Guarding industries, Steve recognised a gap
in the market and more importantly identified a
solution – remote secure control rooms
provided at a fraction of the cost of manned
guards. And so in September 1994, Visual
Verification was born in Garston, Liverpool.
monitoring station in the UK to be awarded
Approved Contractor Scheme (ACS) status by
the SIA, and in addition one of the Directors
now sits on the SIA’s Strategies and Standards
Committee. Visual also holds EDI training
status so it has the ability to train and examine
(both internal and external) control room staff
in-house to the SIA’s exacting standards.
The services Visual can offer its clients have
developed over time but the ethos of the
Company remains the same, as reflected in
our mission statement:
Our security services protect the livelihood of
our customers and increase their profitability.
Our mission is to excel in the provision of
remote monitoring services using different
technologies and communications and to
provide complete customer satisfaction
across differing industries, environments and
countries. We constantly aim to push the
boundaries of remote monitoring.
Today as the economic conditions mirror
those of the early 1990’s, the Company is well
placed to cement its position at the forefront of
the remote monitoring market, providing
security services at a fraction of the cost of
more traditional methods.
Today the Company is the largest
independent monitoring station in the UK and
operates from large purpose-built premises in
Timperley, Cheshire. Using the latest
technological advances and the best available
staff, Visual Verification provides services
across the UK & Ireland to premises ranging
from the homes of international footballers to
local convenience stores.
The Company prides itself on meeting the
latest British standards and all CCTV Operators
are licensed by the Security Industry Authority
(SIA). In 2006 the Company became the first

In addition, we have the ability to monitor

this way, a wide diversity of security solutions
are brought together in a single, powerful but

precisely meets the needs of the user.
Security management is more than just

Expanding the Excellence
Today, Visual Verification
provide a plethora of security
services to their clients across
the UK & Ireland. From our
British Standard Control Room
we offer everything from
guarding check call services to
broadband provision. As the
available technology improves
along with our expertise, the
services we can offer our
clients are always developing.
Here is a just flavour of what
the Company currently
provides:
Access Control
At any site staff and visitor access (vehicle
and foot traffic) can be controlled remotely
through the use of turnstiles and barriers. This
provides a ‘virtual concierge’ service which
replaces both physical buildings and security
guards, thus cutting overhead costs and
increasing efficiency. Using ANPR (Automatic
Number Plate Recognition) and the latest
receiving software, reception and site
management functions can be provided
remotely at a fraction of the cost of manned
guarding.
The Managed Service
Visual Verification’s fully managed service has
taken the industry by storm. Here, dedicated
workstations and operators provide clients
with round the clock protection using CCTV,
intruder alarms and perimeter detection. In
addition, Access Control, ANPR, and the latest
software, enables the Company to provide
reception functions, health & safety
instructions and vital management information
24 hours per day. The service evolves
depending on the client’s specific
requirements and continues to provide huge
cost savings across many industries.
Check Calls
Many Guarding firms now use Visual
Verification to provide their Check Call
services. This very important service
(which is required under lone worker
legislation) protects the guard and keeps
him in contact with the 24 Hour control
room as and when required. Guards book
on and off via the automated software and
make their regular check calls to an agreed
schedule. If check calls are not made or a
duress code is used, the subsequent alarms
are dealt with by our operators in line with
tailored requirements.
Vehicle Tracking
Using the latest Satcom software our CCTV
operators monitor vehicles across the UK &
Ireland for a number of high profile clients.
Panic alarms, fire alarms, inactivity alarms
and many other signals are received and
responded to and, in addition, any deviation
from a pre-ordained route is flagged as an
alarm in the control room and escalated
accordingly. This service offering routinely
secures highly sensitive and high value stock,
using the latest communications solutions.
Internet Service
Provision
The Company’s 24 Hour IT department offers
clients ADSL provision, pre-configured routers
and project management. Their detailed
knowledge and experience mean that the latest
technical assistance is always available to
clients and installers alike.
Call Centre Facilities
Our Control Room routinely provides out of
hours call handling for our clients who are
safe in the knowledge that each call is
recorded, logged and reported, thus providing
an effective management tool.
