This is based on the criteria of the standard for cable trays, UNE-EN 61537:2002 (CEI61537) type iii test, of point 10.3 The tests were performed according to the layout of the trays recommended in figure 1. The trays were loaded evenly using the joints and fixings recommended in this catalogue for each tray type, as well as the horizontal supports corresponding to each tray type and width. Three tests were performed for each tray type with a different distance between supports (L). The joints are placed at L/5 from the central support. Figure 1: Tray layout used for the load test • L: Recommended distance between supports. It can be 1m, 1.5m or 2m depending on the tray size and the applied load • L/5: Recommended distance for couplers between trays relative to support points. The allowed maximum load (kg/m) is determined from the longitudinal and transversal deflections (see below). These deflection must be below the following values shown. The maximum longitudinal deflection must be below 1% of the distance between supports. The maximum transversal deflection must be below 5% of the width of the tray. Example of the transversal and longitudinal deflection Loading Tables for each tray type according to the distance between supports is indicated in the following table: SUSPENDED INSTALLATION • Tray widths of 100, 150, 200 and 300 – use VS suspension brackets. • Tray widths of 400, 500 and 600 – use VSR suspension brackets. 26 Telephone: 01352 792301 technical HORIZONTAL / SUSPENSION SUPPORTS LOADING TABLE CAPACITIES FOR ELECTRO ZINC, HOT DIP GALV AND STAINLESS STEEL TRAYS Loading capacity (kg/m) Tray Dimensions 35x100 35x150 35x200 35x300 60x60 70x100 70x150 70x200 70x300 70x400 70x500 70x600 105x200 105x300 105x400 105x500 105x600 1.5m Span 27 30 31 32 41 55 58 58 72 79 85 90 101 104 106 110 119 1m Span 49 51 53 59 69 88 93 121 120 138 137 163 147 150 171 184 197 2m Span 19 19 20 21 30 38 42 42 55 61 56 67 79 77 84 77 91 RECOMMENDED JOINTS BETWEEN TWO CONSECUTIVE TRAYS Sections for the load values expressed in this catalogue Side Joints Required QFC35E 35x100 35x150 35x200 35x300 60x60 70x100 70x150 70x200 70x300 70x400 70x500 70x600 105x200 105x300 105x400 105x500 105x600 Email: marketing@mita.co.uk 2 x QFC35E Base Joints Required QFC35E 1 1 2 1 1 2 2 3 3 1 2 2 3 3 27 technical DEFLECTION OF TRAYS AND BRACKETS The trays may be deformed by the weight of the cabling. The deformation, or F value, known as deflection, should not exceed the value indicated by the UNE-EN 61537:2002 standard (CEI 61537), which requires compliance with the following: On the supports, the maximum deformation or deflection (Fmax) takes place at the end, and its limit value complies with the standard: FL< L ( (L=Distance Longitudinal deflection 100 between supports) FT< A ( (A=Tray width) 20 F max D 20 Transversal deflection (D= Support width) IDENTIFICATION All tray sections must be identified in order to comply with the legislation in force, so that the manufacturer, tray type and EC marking are clearly visible. In this regard, aemsa tray is identified by means of an independent marker that is attached between the rods on each length. 28 Telephone: 01352 792301 technical RESISTANCE TO CORROSION AND CHEMICAL AGENTS The atmosphere's action on metals is one of the main problems caused by corrosion, leading to major economic losses due to suitable basic criteria in the design and location of the installations. Corrosion is an electrochemical phenomenon since it is caused by the loss of mass of metals through the ionisation of these metals when an electrical current is run through an electrolyte. Corrosion is promoted by three fundamental factors: Moisture (without moisture there is no atmospheric corrosion, since it is the water that acts as the electrolyte), atmospheric pollution, particularly concentrations of SO that have a major capacity to damage metal, and the concentration of chlorides (Cl ions), that are located near marine environments. Corrosion causes the oxidation of the material, giving rise to a continuous loss of mass, which contributes to the gradual loss of the characteristics of the metals, both mechanical and electrical continuity, with the major risk that this entails for the installation and the users. As indicated in the Low Voltage Electrotechnical Regulation, when the presence of corrosive or pollutant substances, including water, may provoke corrosion or degradation, the parts of the cable management system that are prone to damage must be duly protected or manufactured in a material that is resistant to the substance. Moreover, it is expressed that there cannot be any mutual contact between different metals that may form electrochemical reactions, unless specific measures are taken to avoid the consequences of these contacts. In this regard, suitable coatings are provided for aemsa wire cable tray according to where they are to be located. These coatings are: ZINC (silver) This is carried out in accordance with the instructions of the UNE EN 12329-01 standard: “Protection from metal corrosion. Electrolytic zinc coatings on iron or steel”. Zinc coating (silver) is advisable for environments with a moderately aggressive environmental with a minimum thickness of 8 microns. HOT DIP GALVANISED COATING Hot dip galvanised coating is a process based on the direct immersion of the parts in a zinc bath smelted according to the UNE EN ISO 1461 standard: 99, so that fairly high micron levels (above 100) can be obtained for aemsa wire cable tray.. This type of coating is conceived for installations subject to high environmental aggression. IMPORTANT: Hot dip galvanised coating is a coating whose immersion process (in zinc vats), leads to certain defects of appearance, such as whitish stains, irregular surfaces and in some cases grey stains or decolouration. All these defects are normal to this type of coating. They are admissible according to UNE EN ISO 1461 standard, and do not reduce the protection for the product. To minimise this type of aesthetic problem, appropriate storage recommendations should be followed. However, in moist environments, the initial appearance of whitish stains or a dark colour are inevitable, although they disappear in time and will eventually take on the characteristic grey hue of hot dip galvanising. Email: marketing@mita.co.uk STAINLESS STEEL While it is not a surface coating as such, stainless steel provides excellent corrosion behaviour thanks to the characteristics of the actual material. The aemsa wire cable tray series can be supplied with this material, which is suitable for a highly aggressive environment. The quality of the stainless steel is AISI 304. The following table is a quick guide to help in the choice of the type of tray to choose in each type of installation, according to the environmental characteristics. Environment Interior Installation/ Non-aggressive environment Interior Installation/Aggressive environment Exterior/Moderately Aggressive Environment Exterior Enviornment/Severely aggressive (coastal, chemical industries, etc) Food Industry EZ HDG SS (AISI304) Recommended Possible Possible Not recommended Possible Recommended Not recommened Recommended Possible Not recommended Possible Recommended Not recommended Not recommended Recommended INTERIOR INSTALLATION / NON AGGRESSIVE ENVIRONMENT: Those in which, as a result of the location of the installation and the processes performed in them, the atmosphere is barely polluted, ie, pollution-free environments, with low levels of moisture. INTERIOR/AGGRESSIVE ENVIRONMENT: Aggressive interior environments are those which are polluted and moist as a result of the location of the installation and /or the type of activity. Eg: installations with high emissions of water vapour, locations with major levels of moisture where the wetting times of the installation are high, high levels of SO2 caused by the location of the installation or by the actual process, high levels of chlorides due to closeness to coasts, etc. Any of the above cases, or a combination of them, may give rise to an interior installation rated as aggressive in terms of corrosion. EXTERIORS WITH A MODERATELY AGGRESSIVE ENVIRONMENT: Any external installation will be subjected, by its very nature, to more extreme environmental conditions than an interior application. SEVERELY AGGRESSIVE EXTERIORS: This case may be compared to locations with a high level of pollution, such as urban area, coastal areas, areas with high environmental humidity, etc. FOOD INDUSTRY: Gives good resistance to freshwater, corrosion, natural atmospheres and foodstuffs. 29 Other products from MITA WIBE Ladders Wibe Ladder is supplied by MITA and complements the other cable support systems that we offer.
