Way Auction 2015 - Way Elementary PTO
2015 Parents' Night Out Rockin' Motor City Spring Auction Saturday March 21, 2015 1 2 -WelcomeBid High Bid Often Have Fun! 2015 Parents' Night Out Rockin' Motor City Spring Auction 3 Dear Way Families, Thank you so much for joining us this special evening. I’m delighted to see the auction return as our primary fundraiser this year. The generosity you've shown in the past can be seen in the classrooms, hallways and grounds of Way Elementary. The smile on the fourth grader as he zooms down the playground slide, and the intent look of a first grader as she reads an independent book, or the engagement of a class holding fort in our peace garden are all lasting testaments to your kindness. It seems small to judge an evening's success by its bottom line. Rather, tonight should be a celebration not as much for our material gains but for the people assembled here who give in so many ways; for it is the people who make Way Elementary such an extraordinary school. Having said all of that, I leave you with these words: Bid High and Bid Often! Enjoy the evening. Adam Scher "We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give." - Winston Churchill Dear Friends, We, along with numerous volunteers, are so excited to present Way Elementary’s 2015 Parents’ Night Out, “Rockin’ Motor City.” It has been a great joy to work with our committee to bring you tonight’s awesome array of silent and live auction items to bid on while we support our school! As you look through this auction booklet we hope that you will take note of all of the businesses, many owned by Way families, that have supported our school by donating auction items and buying ads. In return, we hope that you support them by soliciting their businesses. We thank them all. Finally, we thank the MotorCity Casino Hotel and their associates for hosting our event in the state-of-the-art Sound Board™ theater. A variety of delectable appetizers, great Motown music and cash bar are all here for us to partake. With over 200 items to bid on and the company of parents who love Way, the evening is sure to be a success! We hope you enjoy tonight’s evening! Sincerely, Soni, Erika & Hannan 2 Where does the money raised from Way’s Auction go? Way’s PTO relies on the revenue from our auction to make Way a better school for our children. You must use your bid number to bid. 2. All Silent Auction items will be displayed on tables. 3. You must be at least 18 years of age to bid. 4. Each item will have a corresponding bid sheet. Please be aware that each bid sheet will indicate a MINIMUM BID and a MINIMUM BID INCREASE. On the bid sheet, write your Bid Number and the amount of your bid. 5. There are some packages where the opening bid for the package might seem high. In fact, these opening bids are at least ½ the value of the package-in some cases, less than this. We cannot lower the opening bid on items due to costs associated with putting these packages together. 6. Bid increases on all items must be in whole dollar increments of at least the MINIMUM BID INCREASE or will not be considered valid bids. 7. Each new bid must be written on the first available blank line on the bid sheet. Do not cross out any bids on the bid sheet. You may bid as many times as you wish. 8. The last legitimate bid (over the minimum bid amount, in the correct minimum bid increase) written BEFORE the announced closing time of the Silent Auction will be the winning bid. 9. Each successful bidder is responsible for paying his/her winning bid the night of the event. Payment may be made by cash, check (made payable to the “Way PTO”), Visa, or Mastercard. All tangible items are subject to Michigan state 6% sales tax. 10. ALL SALES ARE FINAL. 11. All items MUST be taken the night of the Auction! 12. All Auction items and services must be used with the designated time limits and are subject to terms and conditions stipulated by the donors. Gift certificates will not be replaced. 13. To ensure full enjoyment of an item requiring special arrangements or reservations, we suggest that you contact the person listed on your certificate within 2 weeks of the Auction. 14. All items have been donated to and are auctioned by the WAY PTO. Auction items are not being sold by the donors and there are absolutely NO REFUNDS OR EXCHANGES. 15 By purchase, the buyer waives any claim for liability against either the school or the donor. Neither way Elementary School/Way PTO nor the donor is responsible for any personal injuries or damages which may result from the use of the property or services. 5 Auction Rules and Procedure All bids are binding. Silent Auction Bidding Procedure: A winning bid must be a valid bid. The Auction Committee has the authority to declare a bid invalid for the following reasons: • Bidder is not a registered adult bidder. • Bid is less than the minimum opening bid. • Bid is less than the minimum bid increase increment. • No bid number is entered on the bid sheet. • Illegible writing. • The bid was entered after the bidding was closed. • Blocking (defined below). Auction officials may disqualify the bid of any person who attempts to block the way of others who wish to bid on the same items or an item adjacent to it. Blocking includes, but is not limited to: • Covering a bid sheet. • Moving a bid sheet from a bid area. • Writing slowly to “wait out the clock.” • Any other tactic deemed by the Auction Committee to prevent bidding. Minimum raises are stated on each bid sheet and may vary by items. Each bid must equal or exceed the minimum increase stated on the bid sheet in order to constitute a valid bid. The closing bid indicated by the Auction Committee constitutes the winning bid. Bid sheets may be removed from a table only by the assigned Auction Committee member at the end of the Silent Auction. In the event of a dispute, the Auction Committee shall act as the final authority and shall determine the winning bid. Their decision shall be final. Check Out Although every effort has been made to accurately describe all items for sale, the Fundraising Committee shall not be responsible for incorrect descriptions, authenticity, genuineness, defect of any article or typographical errors. Please be patient with the checkout volunteers after the last section ends. They will process your winning purchase(s) and get you on your way as quickly as possible. Please do not leave before paying. It is the responsibility of the buyer to check dates and restrictions on all certificates. Payment Cash or checks are the preferred methods of payment. However, for your convenience, the Way PTO is pleased to accept MasterCard or Visa. All tangible items are subject to the Michigan state 6% sales tax. 6 Pay to Play Parties PP-22 Kindergarten Co-ed Pool Party Generously Donated By: Jason & Stacey Raznick Enjoy an evening of dinner, swimming, and a bonfire at the Raznick residence on Saturday, June 13th at 4pm.
