On November 18, 2007 the world of archery
lost one of its great pioneers, Steve Gibbs,
founder of SURE-LOC® Archery Products.
Surrounded by family and friends—including
his wife and business partner Dianne, and
daughter Stephanie West—he passed away
at home after a valiant battle with cancer.
Steve’s legendary perseverance, which
earned him eight NFAA Championship
bowls, an IBO World Champion title and
allowed him to shape this world-renowned
archery manufacturing business, will be
dearly missed. His innovations have revolutionized the industry and his passion for the
sport has enabled many archers to achieve
their personal goals. Steve’s spirit lives on
across the globe in countless archers whom
he has mentored over the years.

THE NAMING OF A SIGHT
Even while terribly ill, Steve Gibbs helped select the new
products for 2008. The SURE-LOC® design team brought
prototypes to his bedside and he’d examine them in great
detail, recommending adjustments as necessary. He liked the
lustrous finish of the blue pewter sight with its bright silver
knurled knobs so much, that he declared it would become a
regular color choice for SUPREME and QUEST–X sights. While
searching for just the right word to describe the gunmetal grayblue finish, Dianne chose to name the new color “LEGACY” to
commemorate Steve’s outstanding contributions to the archery
world. Only days after the new sights went into production,
Steve passed away. Now SURE-LOC® endeavors to stay true to
the legacy of perfectionism and the promise of excellence that
symbolizes Steve Gibbs.

The lightweight LETHAL WEAPON® hunting sights have
