If you have visited
Pembrokeshire before
it’s good to see you again.
If this is your first time
...hello and welcome.
Pocket Pembrokeshire will help you find
your feet and make the most of your time
in Pembrokeshire.
Pembrokeshire. So what’s on offer?
A stunning coastal landscape with rugged cliffs
and award winning beaches protected by its
National Park status ensuring it remains just how
nature intended.
But if it’s not a beach day, what then?
Plenty. Pocket Pembrokeshire is jammed packed
with options on land and water and aims to take
all the hard work out of planning your trip.
p o c k e t
is
one
of
Pembrokeshire’s
best
attractions with its world renowned
Coastal Path, all 186miles of it. But it’s
not just us here in Pembrokeshire that
thinks so, so did the 340 experts at
National Geographic magazine. They
ranked us the second best coastline in
Seychelles, Bermuda and Costa Rica.

them too, 52 of them. With so much choice you’re sure to find that perfect
beach for you. Our 13 Blue Flag beaches such as Tenby, Dale ,Amroth and
Poppit are perfect for families. We’ve beaches that are perfect for rockpooling;
Manorbier, Wisemans Bridge, Cwm Y Eglwys. One of the joys of exploring
Pembrokeshire is discovering the little coves and bays that are only accessible
from the Coast Path. Just remember to keep an eye on the tides.

With a protected coastline you’d expect pristine beaches. Well yes, we have

Away from the coast you’ll find a different
world. To the north the Preseli Mountains, the
source of the Spotted Dolerite which forms
part
of
the
circle
of
Bluestones
at
Stonehenge. Judging by the huge abundance
of relics that remain - Neolithic burial
chambers, Bronze Age cairns, stone circles,
standing stones and Iron Age forts - these hills
were well populated by Prehistoric man.
To the south you have The Daugleddau
Estuary
sometimes
called
the
Secret
Waterway dotted with castles; Carew, Picton
and Benton near Lawrenny. The long distance
Landsker Borderlands Trail takes in the creeks
and inlets of the estuary and the small villages
of Cresswell Quay, Carew and Landshipping.

This conservation-led zoo takes another giant leap forward as

Wonderful Wildlife Park offers 52 acres of organically packed
fun. It's a place for all the family. Close encounters with
animals from all over the world... REAL FUN, REAL FOOD, REAL
EXPERIENCE.
Nothing beats hand-feeding a wallaby, especially when there’s
a joey in the pouch. Stroll with Pygmy goats, Somali and
Cameroon sheep in the African Village. Wander down to the
Valley of the Apes to see Steve and Lisa and see how young
Bryn has grown.
This conservation-led zoo has one of Europe's largest Lemur
Walkthroughs where you will meet five endangered species.
And don't forget to take a peek at Meerkat Mountain before
relaxing with a glass of wine next to the world's largest bird
table.
The real food cafe is worth the visit alone - everything is
cooked from scratch in the Manor House kitchens. And kids
just love the freedom and space - flying the Dragon,
bouncing around in the Hay Play Barn, wandering through the
Burrow, laughing and learning.

site reputed to be that of St David’s 6th century monastic
settlement. Beautiful oak and painted ceilings, its
extraordinary sloping floors and wonderful restored cloisters
contribute to its special character. The Refectory enhances any
visit giving rest, refreshment and time to reflect on the unique
site.

What is the Pembrokeshire Marine Code?
The Marine Code Group was developed by local operators and other organisations working closely with the
Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority and the National Trust. These organisations are all concerned about the
long-term management of the area and the development of high standards of practice. They
recognise that sustainable use must be a key theme in marine recreational activities and education.

What is the Pembrokeshire Outdoor Charter?
The Pembrokeshire Outdoor Charter Group is a group of people from outdoor activity centres, field study
centres and conservation organisations. The group is focused on coordinating efforts to make sure that outdoor activities and learning in Pembrokeshire do not impact on the environment in an unsustainable way both now and in
the future. For further details visit: www.pembrokeshireoutdoors.org.uk
What is WiSE?
WiSE (WIldlife SafE) is a Training and Accreditation scheme aimed at operators of passenger pleasure craft, wildlife
cruise operators, dive boats and charter yachts who may come into contact with “mega” marine wildlife such as
whales, dolphins, basking sharks or seals. All WiSE operators will also have
received instruction in species identification, life history and behaviour of a range of species that
they might encounter, and will record their sightings for use in basic scientific research. All WiSE
operators will have completed a course led by marine wildlife experts before receiving
Accreditation, and have agreed to abide by the Codes of Conduct for each of the species
covered within the WiSE scheme. For further details visit: www.wisescheme.org

Climbing is one of the fastest growing sports in the UK,
Adventure Beyond offer climbing and abseiling all over the
Pembrokeshire coast on natural crags. One of my favourites is
to take groups to St Davids head, the most westerly point in
Wales - it has amazing views where we often see seals, sun
fish, dolphins and much more. The climbing here is ace and
there are plenty of opportunities to progress to harder climbs.
What goes up must come down! So abseiling is the perfect
way to get back to ground.
Climbing sessions with us are aimed at teaching you the basic
elements of climbing outdoors, including belaying a partner,
movement and balance on the rock and abseiling.

The location of climbing and abseiling is St. Davids Head, on
the Pembrokeshire coast not far from the city of St. Davids,
approximately 12 miles from Sealyham. This activity takes a
full day. Ropes courses - We have built our own course into the
woodlands next to the river. Safety wires have been
incorporated into what we consider to be one of the most
comprehensive courses in the county. All equipment provided
along with fully qualified instructors.
Abseiling gently downwards with the sea swirling beneath
you. Then a tremendous sense of achievement as you climb
back to the top of the cliff. Pembrokeshire has some of the
best climbing locations in the UK, suitable for all abilities. Our
rock climbing starts with technique coaching whilst
bouldering, building confidence for the bigger routes climbed
