Grandstand Events
Hillbilly Ninja Warrior
Mud pits, tractor tires, straw bales, rope swings -- do you
think you have what it takes to be a Hillbilly Ninja Warrior?
On Monday, Aug. 1 at the Brown County Fair, you can give it
a try -- in front of hundreds of your friends and neighbors.
Hillbilly Ninja Warrior is a new grandstand event this year,
modeled after the popular TV show American Ninja Warrior.
Individual contestants test their physical strength by
powering through a series of obstacles.
The idea for a Brown County version grew out of a larger
health and wellness initiative for county government
employees -- the Brown County Wellness Committee -- said
Brown County Purdue Extension Educator Lisa Wilson.
At the grandstand event, Ninja Warrior contestants will compete on
the course as individuals, but they can pool their points as a team in
order to get a better average and possibly a better chance for prizes.
Prizes:
There will be separate classes for youth -- 15 & younger -and adults -- 16& up. Ages 5-8 & 9-12: First, $50; second, $30;
third, $20. Ages 13-15 and 16 & up: First, $100; second, $50;
third, $25. The adult first-place finisher also gets the title of
Ultimate Hillbilly Ninja Warrior.
Entry fees:
$10 per youth and $15 per adult. Prices good until July 29.
Cost is $5 extra if signing up on the day of the event.

To register, call Brown County Parks and Recreation

Brown County Rumble
Columbus-based Hoosier Pro Wrestling will bring its “oldschool” show to the Brown County Fairgrounds grandstand
Friday night, Aug. 5. This event replaces last year’s new
truck tug-o-wars, which didn’t take place for lack of entries.
The Brown County Rumble will feature 14 to 16 area pro
wrestlers acting out WWE-style story lines with their crowdpleasing or crowd-annoying personalities, such as Doink
the Clown, Shawn Cook and others.
The show starts at 7 p.m. Ticket prices are the same as
for other grandstand events: $15 for pits, $10 for general
admission, $5 for kids ages 4 to 11 and free for kids 3 and
younger.
Promoter Jerry Wilson said he plans to have “pit” seating
on the ground around the ring. Other opportunities also
will be available for fans to get up-close with their favorite
wrestling personalities, including merchandise tables.
Wilson said it’s been a couple decades since his group did
a show in Brown County. With this show being slated on
Friday night, “I hope people down in Brown County will get
out and see us,” he said.
