Elementary classes combine learning and fun in all-day, summer camp-like experiences. Upper school students can take classes for fun or for credit (a great way to lighten their loads during the school year – three weeks of daily classes will provide a full semester of credit!) Please visit the RCS website and click on the Summer Academy button: detailed class listings, costs, and other prerequisites are available, as well as a form for online enrollment/payments. Smith as this year’s Colorado Latin Teacher of the Year. This award will be presented at the next CCA meeting in Denver on April 30, 2016. Mr. Smith has been recognized for his teaching excellence and his many contributions to Latin and classics education. He has been noted for his innovative work in promoting classics, supporting and preparing students in and out of the classroom, and acting as a mentor to other faculty. The CCA has also praised Mr. Smith’s Aeneid translation. Congratulations Mr. Smith! MOTHER'S DAY PINTEREST CONTEST There is still time! PAGE TWO Announcements, continued Activities Athletics WAX MUSEUM RCS TRACK AND FIELD The Second Annual Wax Museum event will be held on Thursday, May 5, from 1:45-2:30pm in the PAC. Come and see historical and literary characters come to life right before your eyes! All are invited to attend. POPS BBQ Please join us for the Pops BBQ, May 6 at 4pm in the PAC, to hear Mr. Anderson's State of the School address and view the Art Show. PROM AND AFTER-PROM DETAILS All Ridgeview high school students are invited to attend our 2016 Prom "Garden of Lights.” Prom will be held at the Fort Collins Country Club on May 7 from 5:30-11:30pm. Dinner and dessert will be served during the evening. After-Prom will take place on May 7 from 12am-2am at Ridgeview Classical Schools. Don't forget to turn in all P.E. cards by 3pm on May 5! We have rented a variety of inflatable games, card tables, games and other activities for the students. We need your help to make this a fun and safe night for all of our students. We are in need of parent chaperons during the event, food donations and monetary donations to cover the cost of pizza and equipment. End of the Year Medication Pickup Dear Parents/Guardians, Medications will not be sent home with students at the end of the school year. • Parents must pick up all medications on or before the last day of school. Medications must be picked up by the end of the school day. Last Day for seniors is May 25th. Kindergarten last day is May 26 and the All School Picnic May 27. All medications will need to be picked up by May 27th for all grades. If medications need to be picked up before the last day of school, please make arrangements with the school nurse or health technician. The Health Office number is 970-494-4620, Ext. 113 • Emergency or as-needed medications (Epi-pens, Tylenol, Inhalers, etc.) must also be picked up. • The school nurse will follow Colorado State Health Department procedures and deliver all medications not picked up by May 27th, to be disposed of properly. • If medication will be brought back to the school in the fall, you may obtain a medical permission form from the Health Technician at school or on the PSD website. We encourage medication to be given at home if at all possible. • If your child will need medication for the 16-17 school year or will need a Health Care Action Plan for health concerns such as Diabetes please see the website, Colorado Kids with Diabetes Care and Prevention Collaborative website at http://www.coloradokidswithdiabetes.org/ for your child's Diabetes Health Care Plans. The Barbara Davis Center uses these care plans for your child's school Diabetes Care Plans. The school will need an updated current care plan along with your child's current Doctor's orders. If your child needs a Health Care Plan for asthma, permission to carry an inhaler, seizures, serious life threatening food allergies or any other concern these forms can be picked up in the health office before May 27th. These are available before May 27th if you might be going to your child's health care provider over the summer break. The school requires Health Care plans and Medication Permission forms to be signed by parent and health care providers. Health Care Forms can also be obtained from the Poudre School District website. If you have any questions or if you are not sure if your child needs a care plan please call the Health Office at 970-494-4620, Ext. 113 and ask to speak to the Health Technician or School Nurse. • This procedure is important to safeguard all students against improper or accidental ingestion of medication. Provided by: Divine Ice Cream Veritas, Ridgeview’s journal of student art and literature, is pleased to present its thirteenth edition! Veritas will contain more than 100 works of art, including photographs of sculptures and textiles, in addition to poetry and stories. Each edition contains many works of art featured in Ridgeview’s 2016 art show. Also featured are the monthly contest winners. The elementary and upper school winners of the contests received prizes in addition to being included in Veritas. The journal is published entirely by a staff of Ridgeview students. It is printed in full color and is professionally bound. It is sure to be a treasured memento of some of the year’s finest student work! Order your copy today! We will have friendly competitions and games as well as plenty of time to pull up a picnic table and have a study group. After school snacks and sub-sandwiches will be served. Parents should pick up students from the park by 5:30pm. Ridgeview Families, We will be offering After School Care during Summer Academy June 6th – 24th from 3:00-6:00. The daily rate is $20.00.
