Invitation On behalf of the European Association of Nuclear Medicine, it is my pleasure to invite you to the 29th Annual EANM Congress in Barcelona, Spain in October 2016. Seven years after EANM’s last visit, Barcelona is again hosting our Annual Congress. We are very much looking forward to a meeting that will combine the best of science and education in nuclear medicine with the splendor of this wonderful city. New developments in devices, methodology, radiopharmaceutical development and clinical applications will again highlight the dynamics of our profession, working closely together within our community and with many other scientific and clinical colleagues who use and benefit from all that nuclear medicine and molecular imaging have to offer. The programme of the EANM 2016 meeting offers numerous features that make our congress the worldclass event that everyone with an interest in nuclear medicine must attend. The EANM Committees put a great effort in establishing an educational programme that will highlight the state of the art teaching you all can benefit from in order to remain up-to-date in your practice. The interactive sessions will feature even more opportunities for you to participate in active learning. The European School of Nuclear Medicine again took responsibility in organising a large number of educational sessions on cross-sectional imaging, further advancing the pivotal position of the nuclear medicine physicians in the field of multimodality imaging in clinical practice. Furthermore, the collaborations that the EANM Committees foster with our sister societies provide numerous joint sessions with a truly multidisciplinary flavour for you to attend and enjoy. These sessions, jointly organised by several EANM Committees, will provide an integrative approach to various topics relevant to nuclear medicine. Of course the latest achievements in clinical nuclear medicine, science and technology will have a prominent place in the programme within oral and poster sessions. Many sessions will feature an invited speaker who will introduce or summarise the session, in order to put the presentations into a broader perspective. The by now well-established tracks “M2M - Molecule to Man” (basic and translational science) and “Do.MoRe” (radionuclide therapy and dosimetry) will be even more visible than in previous years to provide a platform for the best and latest science in these fields. Last year the Rapid Fire Session was introduced, in a comprehensive session with elevator pitches followed by extensive discussions at moderated poster walks, presenting you with the abstracts in Oncology with the highest ratings and quality. We hope that you will enjoy the expansion of Rapid Fire to 3 sessions this year, which will bring you the very best not only of Oncology on Sunday, but also the best of the Do.MoRe track in Monday’s and of the Molecule to Man track in Tuesday’s Rapid Fire sessions. Letter of Invitation For the first time, EANM’16 will provide the opportunity to submit late-breaking abstracts (deadline for submission August 14, 2016), which will report novel, outstanding data that is or may become practice-changing. A very limited number of these abstracts will be selected for a single Presidential Session. Before we say farewell at the end of the congress, the traditional Highlights Lecture will summarise the science presented at EANM 2016. I am delighted that two distinguished members of the European nuclear medicine community, Prof. Eric Aboagye from London, United Kingdom and Prof. Françoise Kraeber-Bodéré from Nantes, France have agreed to take on this task. I cordially invite you to EANM’16 in Barcelona in October 2016, to attend and participate in our annual congress, to discuss science, to learn about the exciting developments in nuclear medicine and to enjoy everything that the city of Barcelona has to offer. The format of the dosimetry and therapy meeting has evolved from a series of interesting and important Radiopharmaceutical and dosimetry symposia held approximately every 5 years since 1970. This series was continued at the EANM congresses 2004 (Helsinki) and at the SNM congress 2009 (Toronto). These symposia were formerly known by ISTARD: “International Symposium on Targeted Radiotherapy and Radiopharmaceutical Dosimetry”. From 2015 these symposia are organised annually parallel to the EANM congress and the name has changed to Do.MoRe, emphasizing both the importance of dosimetry and the more regular organisation. EANM16 October 15 – 19, 2016 · Barcelona · Spain As a separate track within the EANM congress, this symposium will aim to bring together all disciplines concerned with Radiopharmaceutical Dosimetry, Physics, Radiobiology and Molecular Radiotherapy stimulating interdisciplinary scientific discussion. As a prelude to Do.MoRe, a pre-symposium will be held on quantitative imaging for radionuclide therapy and statistical reconstruction methods, focusing on PET and SPECT quantification for clinical use in dosimetry and impact of image reconstruction techniques. Within Do.MoRe a symposium is organised to discuss the consequences of the EU Council Directive 2013/59/EURATOM on prospective dosimetry planning for radionuclide therapy which will be mandatory in all of the EU by 2018. The EANM Dosimetry, Therapy, Physics and Thyroid Committees will coordinate the scientific programme for the meeting jointly. All organisational matters will be handled by the EANM Executive Office. Annual Congress of the European Association of Nuclear Medicine Invitation from the EANM Technologist Committee Online abstract submission only Deadline: April 25, 2016 On behalf of the European Association of Nuclear Medicine – Technologist Committee, it is my pleasure to invite you to the 29th Annual EANM Congress in Barcelona, Spain in October 2016. Over the past years the EANM congress has become one of the major gatherings involving the Nuclear Medicine global society. Being the most important highlight of our European society, the Technologist Committee places a massive effort into delivering the most up-to date and highest quality educational initiatives. As all educational sessions are aimed at the Technologist audience, we will continue to keep our interactive sessions and encourage the participation of attendees, both to enrich the sessions and to understand how they can be improved in the years to come. We very much want to hear the Technologist voice and discuss the EANM vision on the challenges that Nuclear Medicine is going to face in the near future. In the past years we set some fixed appointments that you will also encounter at the 2016 Congress. Given that this year’s Technologist Guide will address a crucial topic – Radiation Protection and Dose Optimisation – we will dedicate two sessions to it. During each session the authors will discuss aspects of the chapter they produced for the book and will try to give an overview of the Tech Guide contents. Furthermore, the cooperation with European and international sister organisations will be reflected at the EANM congress. In this context, we will present a joint session with ESTRO (European Society for Radiotherapy & Oncology) on Radiotherapy Planning combined with Nuclear Medicine procedures. Both the American Society of Nuclear Medicine Technologist Section (SNMMI-TS) and the Australian and New Zealand Society of Nuclear Medicine (ANZSNM) will also contribute to the educational sessions related to the Tech Guide. The subject of Technologist Competencies is still a major topic, which potentially affects the entire Nuclear Medicine Technologist community. This year we will continue the traditional Round Table Session, focusing on the competencies document dissemination and its reception by the international partners. This year all 3 Mini Courses will focus on radiopharmaceuticals and their application either in diagnostic or therapeutic procedures. The sessions will address the multidisciplinary component of this field, concentrating on the role of the Nuclear Medicine Technologist. Technologists are also welcome and encouraged to send their scientific abstracts and participate with their original works in the dedicated Oral Presentation Sessions and Poster Sessions that will be part of the programme. The abstract submission deadline will be the 25th April 2016. Technologist Programme To summarise, the programme will offer: 6 Continuing Technologist Education (CTE) sessions 3 Mini Courses 1 Technologist Interest Meeting 3 Oral Presentation Sessions 3 Poster Sessions We look forward to welcoming you to the EANM Congress 2016 in Barcelona.
