Thank you for purchasing a Trikke™ product. This owner’s manual is designed to help you make
the most of your Pon‐e vehicle. Instructions and warnings have been carefully prepared to make
your experience as safe and enjoyable as possible. Use common sense while riding and enjoy
your new Pon‐e. Read additional information on page 18.
READ AND UNDERSTAND THE ASSEMBLY, MAINTENANCE AND SAFETY SECTIONS OF THE
OWNER’S MANUAL BEFORE RIDING. ALWAYS FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS AND PAY ATTENTION
TO ALL WARNINGS.
• ALWAYS WEAR PROPER SAFETY EQUIPMENT WHEN RIDING THE PON‐E INCLUDING AN ANSI,
SNELL,, CPSC,, ASTM OR DIN EN 1078 APPROVED HELMET. USE PROPER FOOTWEAR AND SECURE
LACES ON SHOES BEFORE RIDING.
• AVOID WATER, BUMPS, GRAVEL, SAND, CRACKS, UNEVEN SURFACES OR OBSTACLES THAT
MAY STOP YOU SUDDENLY OR CAUSE YOU TO LOSE CONTROL. THE PON‐E IS NOT INTENDED FOR
OFF‐ROAD USE. AVOID RIDING AT NIGHT.
• HANDS FREE RIDING CAN BE DANGEROUS. USE BOTH HANDS TO HOLD THE HANDLEBARS
FIRMLY AT ALL TIMES. DO NOT PUSH TOO HARD ON OR APPLY UNEVEN PRESSURE TO EITHER
SIDE OF THE HANDLEBARS. DO NOT MAKE SUDDEN SHARP TURNS OR APPLY YOUR BODY
WEIGHT TO THE HANDLEBARS WHEN TURNING. SUCH ACTIONS MAY CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO
“JACK‐KNIFE” OR STOP SUDDENLY, WHICH CAN CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY TO THE RIDER.
• STUNT RIDING, RIDING BACKWARDS AND/OR EXTREME RIDING ARE NOT RECOMMENDED
ON THE PON‐E. RIDING IN THIS FASHION MAY DAMAGE THE PRODUCT AND VOIDS THE

POSITION WILL CHANGE THE INTENDED PERFORMANCE OF THE VEHICLE. SEE THE PHOTOS ON

FRONT FORK.

Your pre‐assembled Pon‐e requires handlebar and front fork/motor assembly attachment , cable
connections and a quick maintenance checklist before riding. All of the following information and
more can be found on the www.trikke.com website.

Step 1: Unfolding the Legs
At the front of each leg there is a
folding joint near the cambering
mechanism. Each of the two joints

Step 2: Attaching the Handlebars
Position the handlebars with the brake cables crossing once behind the steering column and again
in front. This simple method insures that the left brake lever actually operates the left rear brake.
If you find that your brakes are crossing, please start again and properly mount the handlebars.
Note: the throttle cable should be taped to the right brake cable.
Once your brake cables are
properly routed you can secure
the handlebars. Loosen the two
bolts on the stem that fasten
the stem to the stem post using
the supplied 4mm Hex wrench.

and tighten (but do not torque)

Step 3: Attaching the Front Fork
Putting the front fork/motor assembly on
in the proper riding position requires a
5mm Hex wrench (supplied). First, turn
the vehicle upside down so the fork post
(arrow right) is aiming towards the sky.
Note: place the plastic packaging support
underneath the handlebar to avoid
damaging the throttle. You should do this
procedure on carpet or soft surface to
prevent scratching the handlebars or foot
platforms.
Loosen the two Hex bolts on the fork collar using the supplied 5mm wrench. Simply align the
locking pin with the hole and push the front fork onto the fork post until the top of the fork and

Step 4: Check the front fork/motor assembly cable alignment
From the front fork/motor assembly, be sure the motor cable is behind the front fork and
fastened to the upper arm of the fork with a zip‐tie. Allowing a little slack, use one of the zip‐
ties provided to tie the motor cable to the outside edge of the cambering mechanism. Cut the
excess zip‐tie material.

Turn the vehicle right side up and look down the front post. Adjust the stem post by aligning the
front wheel axle with the handlebar (You may need to loosen the stem bolts to adjust the
handlebar alignment).
Now all you need to do is use the 5mm Hex wrench to lock the handlebar in place.

d. Connect the batteries. Connect the black connector from the controller to the black
connector from the battery. Note: You may hear a pop sound when the connection is initially
made. This is normal.

Step 7: Raising the Handlebars
Raise the handlebar riser tube by first unlocking the quick release lever. Notice that there are
round holes down the back of the handlebar riser tube providing a number of height‐locking
positions. There is a spring loaded steel locking pin that snaps into these holes to provide a
second level of safety while riding. Push the steel pin in to release the riser tube and telescope
the handlebars up to your preferred riding height. Make sure the quick release firmly locks the
telescoping steering column in place.
If the quick release is loose, use the
adjustment finger nut to tighten the
quick release. Properly adjusted, it
requires a firm hand to close.
After learning how to ride, you can
adjust the handlebar position to
better suit your preferred riding
posture, but don’t rock them too far
back as to inhibit proper folding.
You can also adjust the brake levers’
angle for riding comfort and ease of
use.

properly installed disk brake.
There should be an even gap on
either side of the disk brake rotor
between the rotor and the inner
and outer brake pad.
Before adjusting the disk brakes,
squeeze the brake levers a few
times to stretch the brake cable
and to properly seat the brake
pads.

Loosen the set screw (2a below, 2.5mm allen wrench) to unlock the inner brake pad. Screw the
inner brake pad all the way in (a bolt at the side of the inner pad body, 2b below), then back it off.
The inner brake pad should be backed off until it doesn’t touch the disk. A light rub is okay.

Back off the outer brake pad until it doesn’t touch the disk (3mm allen wrench bolt INSIDE the
caliper lever bolt. Please do not unscrew the 5mm bolt.) Again, a light rube is okay.
Spin each wheel. If the disc wobbles when rotated, mark the extreme point of the disc that is off
and correct it by using your fingers to bend the disc in or out. Repeat this correction until the disc

After truing the discs in step 4, you
might need to make minor adjustments
to the inner and outer pads. When
adjustments are final, use a 2.5mm
allen wrench to lock the inner pad
adjustment screw by tightening its
locking bolt
After some use, the brake pads will
wear down a bit and seat properly with
the disc. Also, the brake cable will
stretch. Re‐adjust your brakes using the
fine adjustment screws at the brake
lever and at the caliper as seen in steps
2 & 3.

PNEUMATIC TIRES ON THE PON‐E
The front and rear tires on the Pon‐e come with lower pressure from the factory for
transportation reasons. You will need to adjust the tire pressure according to the rider’s
weight and riding preferences. Please do not exceed 80 psi (5.6 bar) maximum inflation.
Example of recommended pressure:
Rider’s weight/tires pressure:
170 lbs (77kg) tire pressure: front 50 – 70 psi (5.1 bar)/rear 60‐80 psi (5.6 bar)
Tire pressure affects the riding performance: lower pressure makes for a smooth but
slower ride, higher pressure makes for a faster but slightly bumpier ride. Check tire pressure once
a week – use a tire gauge.

Final Assembly Check List for the Pon‐e
1. When you think that you have completed the assembly process, study the vehicle one more
time and compare it to the photograph on page 6.
2. Check the bolts that secure the front fork and handlebars. A good push and pull on the
handlebars will immediately indicate whether or not the stem is properly secured. The
handlebars should not be able to rotate on the stem ‐‐‐ even with all of your weight pushing
on it.
3. Do a final brake check by spinning both rear wheels. They should spin freely until you apply
the brakes. You should be able to vigorously squeeze the brake levers without the levers
depressing all the way to the handlebar.
4. Check the folding mechanism to insure that both of the rear legs are locked in the riding
position.

Trikke Riding Manual – Safety Issues
Now that you have successfully assembled your new Pon‐e vehicle,
vehicle we will take you through
some simple riding tips to help you get started. These tips are focused on helping you with the
manual side of powering your ultra light hybrid vehicle. We always recommend that you ride
with a helmet and safety gear. Pay special attention to where you are riding, your proximity to
other people, and especially your proximity to cars if you are learning to ride on a street or in a
parking lot.
Please exercise respectful path etiquette where other
riders and pedestrians are on the same path.
Athletes who are accustomed to skiing or inline skating
typically pick it up in a matter of minutes. Don’t be
discouraged if you can’t climb on and speed away at 15
miles per hour. Being and entirely new vehicle, it requires
some new skills. Regardless of your athletic background,
you can learn to ride a Pon‐e vehicle in a relatively short
period of time ‐‐‐ usually in less than an hour.
The greatest words of wisdom are:
“Keep going until you feel the sweet spot.” You’ll know it when you feel it. With the Pon‐e, the
electric power assist will help you to feel the sweet spot. Try to mimic the feeling manually. If
friends or family are riding for the first time,

instruct them and have them wear safety equipment.

Safety Issue #1: Riding in Wet Conditions
Because Trikke™ Tribred vehicles use electricity to power the hub motor, riding in wet conditions
is not recommended. Always

common sense regarding safety around electricity should be practiced.
Additionally, the tires become slick when riding in wet conditions and extreme caution should be
used as rider control will be affected. Always try to avoid wet riding conditions.
Safetyy Issue #2: Weight
g Distribution
When using the motor from a dead stop, it is important to distribute your weight over the front
wheel as shown below. This will ensure proper traction of the front tire.
Once the Pon‐e is in motion, it is quite easy to go over backwards by leaning back. Be careful to
not lean back or distribute your body weight behind the rear wheels. This warning is especially
important for riders with restricted movement or reaction time. If you are standing still on the
vehicle it is always recommended that you keep the brakes on.

Accordingly, you should not lean forward over or onto the handlebars either but rather move your
toes up to the front of the foot platforms and always let the balls of your feet and toes carry most
of your weight. Avoid rocking back on your heels, pulling back on the handlebars or sticking you
butt out behind them (in the case of sticking your butt out) you will inevitably un‐weight the front
wheel.
Besides the risk of going off the back, the other reason for evenly distributing your weight is to
insure that your front wheel has plenty of traction, which leads us to the next safety issue.

Safety Issue #3: Handlebar Etiquette
Properly managing the handlebars and especially how far to the left and right you turn them while
yyou are ridingg is vital to yyour safety.
y Because the front wheel has been designed
g
to trail the fork,,
the handlebars have a tendency to turn on their own in the direction that you are leaning the
vehicle. Unlike a bicycle, which wants to go in a straight line, the front wheel will actually
accentuate a turn. Because of this condition, new riders need to pay special attention to not over
steer. Over steering can cause the handlebars to cross up or “jack knife” which will stop the
vehicle suddenly and possibly cause an injury. Always maintain firm control of the handlebars
with both hands and never ride with one or no hands. The Pon‐e requires both hands on the
handlebars at all times.
First time riders have a tendency to muscle the handlebars and throw their weight from side to
side. What manually propels the Trikke carving vehicle forward is a combination of turning and
leaning the steering column, not jerking or thrusting the handlebars from side to side. It is best to
think in terms of more rocking and less turning. Long smooth turns are best for beginners.

Because the Pon‐e is a totally new machine with completely foreign riding characteristics, we
strongly recommend that you take your time when familiarizing yourself with the vehicle and
gradually test the performance boundaries of its riding characteristics. This is especially
important before attempting to ride up or down hills. Both hill climbing and downhill riding are
advanced and require that you become a strong competent rider before even attempting hills ‐‐‐
up or down.

down hills in which you can control your speed with turns as you traverse the hill. Riding hills at
speeds that require constant braking is not recommended for three reasons: you can get up to
speeds where your braking distances are too long to stop you safely, you can fall causing serious
injury or death, and you will quite simply wear down your brake pads and rear wheels long before
their expected functional life expectancy.

Safety Issue #5: Safety Equipment
Always wear safety equipment, especially a helmet. A helmet is a must when riding a Pon‐e or
any wheeled vehicle for that matter. We also recommend that you wear elbow and knee pads,
especially for children and inexperienced riders. As stable a platform as the vehicle is, there are
always environmental considerations that might catch you by surprise like cracks in the pavement
or other vehicles.

Trikke Riding Manual ‐ How to Ride Manually
Step 1: Mount the Trikke

First, find some smooth, flat and open terrain to ride on. Parking lots, basketball courts or
tennis courts are perfect places to learn. It is best to spend plenty of time riding on flat ground
before attempting hills ‐‐‐ up or down, and do not assume that you already know how to ride a

The vehicle is easy to stand on. We recommend that you step up onto the vehicle and spend a
few minutes getting used to the riding position, the braking system, and especially the range
with which you can rock the steering column left and right. This is especially important
because it is exactly this rocking capability that propels the vehicle forward. Get used to letting
your arms do the rocking ‐‐‐ not your body.
Step 2: Rock the Trikke
We recommend that you push off a few times like a scooter and simply ride around for a few
minutes to get used to the feel. It is especially important to establish a good riding position that
properly balances your weight between the front and rear wheels. First time riders have a
tendency to pop unnecessary wheelies. This can be dangerous because you can fall back and
injure yourself. Scooting your toes to the front of the platforms and riding on the balls of your
feet will help to distribute your weight to the front wheel. Also, properly set, the handlebar
height should force you to lean a bit forward. This riding posture will give you much better
stability, control, and quick braking response. Never lean back or pull back on the handlebars.
You can actually start moving without touching your feet to
the ground by rapidly turning the front wheel back and
forth. You will begin to pickup speed but will peak at only a
few miles an hour. Here is where it all comes together!
You are now turning the wheel back and forth to generate
forward motion and establishing a rhythm. No matter how
bad you might be as a dancer, the Trikke experience is very
rhythmic in movement and timing. Stick with it. You’ll get
it. The beauty of what drives the Trikke carving vehicle’s
design forward is the addition of one final ingredient:

Step 3: Weight Transfer
By this time you have dramatically increased your speed and should be getting to know where the
sweet spot is. When we say “sweet spot,” we mean the part of your turn where most of your
propulsion is generated. Typically, you will feel the outside wheel (your left rear wheel during a
right hand turn) drift away from you as you rock the vehicle to the right. If you apply a little
weight or a kick to that left foot as you turn you will accelerate even more. A seasoned rider can
actually propel the vehicle up to 18 miles per hour or better on flat ground…which is really
moving.

The combination of these techniques will be new to you for sure, but be assured that riding time
will help you to create a smooth and beautifully coordinated movement. You will be able to travel
for miles with long graceful strides and rapid sprints. The beauty of it is that you will always be
looking ahead for places to carve and to add the skiing dimension to what would have been a
straight line ride on any other vehicle.
Step 4: Hill Climbing
Don’t be afraid to tackle hills, but make a point of graduating to steeper and steeper climbs as your
riding skills increase. We always say to new riders that hill climbing is an acquired skill. You can try
it, but you’ll probably frustrate yourself more than anything if you don’t first learn and master the
basic skills of ridingg on flat gground. The Trikke™ carvingg vehicle does slow down dramaticallyy as
you begin to climb a hill, requiring a new and physically challenging technique to be added to your
growing Trikke repertoire.
Hill climbs require much more upper body finesse ‐‐‐ especially on steep grades. If you are riding in
an area that has unavoidable hills, we recommend climbing as much as you can just to challenge
yourself and then just walk or run it to the top.
Hill climbing really brings you full circle as you actually diminish the rocking and increase the
tightness of your turns as the steepness of the hill’s grade increases. It becomes almost like a
series of rapid punching motions to force the front wheel around in order to gain a few more feet
of pavement.
Whatever you do,
do take your time to graduate to steeper and steeper hills.

Step 6: Proper Braking Technique
Because the Pon‐e vehicle has brakes on both rear wheels, it is important to learn how to
optimize their effectiveness with some simple rules. First, always apply both brakes together and
evenly. Second, dispersing your weight evenly to each rear wheel is crucial for maximum braking
effectiveness. If you lift your weight from one foot platform while braking you will cause that
wheel to lose traction with the ground. Finally, do not lean on the handlebars while braking.
Step 7: Adding Upper Body Power
Once you get up to speed with normal riding technique you can move into a more advanced
practice of twisting your upper body and thrusting the vehicle into each lean with your arms and
shoulders. Essentially, you are throwing your upper body weight in the direction of your turn in
order to gain more speed. This technique is especially useful when accelerating or hill climbing,
and it definitely comes after learning the basics of riding a carving vehicle. The whole learning
process will be a gradual development of our skills with each time that you ride, but the beauty of
it is that you will always learn something new with each ride. Enjoy your new hybrid carving
vehicle.
Reminder: Trikke carving vehicles are designed to roll forward only.
Please refrain from rolling backwards as there is the potential of
damaging the trailing arms of the carving vehicle.

ELECTRIC Users Guide
OPERATION
1. To turn the power pack on, press the green button on the throttle in for 3‐seconds, then
release. The battery life indicators on the throttle will illuminate – all the way green
indicates a full charge. The lights on the throttle are a rough estimate of the battery life.
There is also a battery life indicator on the battery cap (arrow), which will remain illuminated
when the battery key is in the “on” position.

2. There is a speed limiter switch (arrow) on the controller box cap. When turned on (on = “1”
position, off = “2”), the switch will limit the speed of the Pon‐e to 12mph. When turned off, the

5. Make sure that the front wheel is pointed straight before applying power to the Pon‐e.
6. When crossing the street, allow enough time for a slow acceleration.
7. Riders should allow a generous amount of breaking room as a faster top speed requires more
room to stop.
8. Riders should avoid riding on wet or flooded terrain. The Pon
Pon‐ee can withstand a small amount
of moisture, however it is not recommended for riding in wet conditions. In the event the
vehicle gets wet, open all the flaps to the power pack assembly and place the entire system in
a clean dry area to dry the components thoroughly. Do not operate the Pon‐e with wet
components.
9. Riders should avoid jumping, curbs, speed bumps, grass, gravel and sand as these may cause
the rider to lose control of the Pon‐e. Possible impacts can damage the motor and battery
brackets.
10. When riding up a hill, it is important to assist the motor by carving up the hill.
11. To turn off the Pon‐e, press the green button on the throttle for 3‐seconds. The battery life
indicator lights on the throttle will turn off – signaling that the system is off. The Pon‐e should
be turned off when not in use to avoid accidental movement of the vehicle.

the locked position. Release the brake lever while pushing the locking pin down so that the
tension of the brake lever holds the locking pin in place. To release the locking pin, squeeze the
brake lever toward the handle again and the locking pin will spring out of the locked position.

1.Tire pressure should be between 60‐70 psi in the front wheel.

It is recommended to keep the motor attached to the power pack to avoid wear on the connectors. Whichever method, use caution to avoid damaging the motor wire.
4.It is recommended to use a nylon tire tool to remove the tire from the motor. The nylon tool will avoid damaging the motor rim and tire

5.Use soapy water to help the tire removal and tire assembly process.
6.Once the tire is replaced, insert motor back in the fork with the motor cable on the right side –
making sure to keep the motor cable behind the fork. There are two spacers for each side. The large spacers on the motor axle should be inside the fork. 7.Make sure that the motor axle is pushed firmly into the fork. The axle should be all the way to the top of the fork dropouts.

8.The small locking washers that have a small ledge go outside the fork. These washers help lock the axle to the fork. The ledge should fit inside the fork dropouts.
9.Tighten the nuts firmly with a 19mm wrench to 400 lb‐in (45 Nm).
10.Use a zip tie to fasten the motor cable to the upper arm of the fork, on the right side and behind the fork.
Rear Tires
1.Remove the rear wheel from the rear fork. The disk will not need to be removed to replace the tire.
2.It is recommended to use a nylon tire tool to remove the tire from the wheel. The nylon tool will avoid damaging the wheel rim and tire.
3.Use soapy water to help the tire removal and tire assembly process.
4.When replacing the tube, be sure to insert the valve stem so that it will stick out to the outside h

BATTERY
1.The battery included with the Pon‐e is a 36V‐9AH Li‐Ion battery.
2.The battery life is rated for 600 full cycles. A full cycle is a full discharge and recharge.
3.Battery disposal: Many states have regulations in place requiring some form of battery recycling. To locate a battery recycling facility nearest you, call 1‐800‐8‐BATTERY.
MOTOR
1.The Pon‐e motor is a 250W‐36V brushless geared hub motor.
2.The motor will freewheel forward.
3.The motor’s top speed is 17mph. This means that if the Pon‐e is travelling faster than 17mph,
the motor will no longer be assisting you,
you but rather it will spin freely at the equivalent of 17mph
(full throttle).

Bye Bye Boot Pain, Hello Free Ride! The Skki is equipped with custom,
shaped skis and generous foam‐padded handlebars; you only need to
grab the handlebars and lean them in the direction of the turn you
want to carve. It is easy to share with your friends or family because
there are no bindings that need to be set to your particular boot size,
and one size fits ages 13 and up! It is also very easy to walk up hills or
on the flats – just walk between the foot platforms! Plus, no more ski‐
boot pain: any durable, waterproof boots should work. Just step on
the knobby, dished foot platforms and let her rip! The skis are easily
removed for transport. Not heavy either, the entire package only

The T8 Air is the ultimate ride for all around utility. It is more portable
than the T12 Roadster, but equipped with the much sought‐after air‐
filled tires for better hill climbing and smooth travel over varied
terrain. The 2008 model also comes equipped with custom fenders,
handlebars and animal‐free leather grips. The T8 Air allows the same
sticky ride as the T12 so that you can throw all of your energy into
your turns, but at 20 pounds can easily be tossed into your trunk or
carried up stairs, onto the subway or through a café. It looks like it
could be the best iteration yet of the Ultimate Fun‐Fitness Machine.

The T67 cambering vehicle is the perfect ride for kids ten and up to
smaller adults. The T67's scaled‐down foldable steel frame was designed
for riders who are too big for the Trikke T5 but a bit too small for the adult
size Trikke T8. It features a 7

the back ‐ can be customized to all 7" wheels for a faster ride. Light and
compact enough for girls and boys to take to school, buzz around town or

Trikke Tribred Limited Warranty
Subject to the following limitations, terms and conditions, Trikke Tech, Inc. (“Company”) warrants
to the original owner of each new Trikke™ Tribred cambering vehicle (“Vehicle”) that the Vehicle
when new is free of defective materials and workmanship. This warranty (excluding all electrical
components) shall expire twelve months from the date of the original purchase from Company or
an authorized dealer or representative. The warranty for the electrical components such as the
motor, battery pack, throttle, controller and wire harness shall expire ninety (90) days from the

If the Vehicle frame should break due to faulty materials or workmanship during the warranty

In order to exercise your rights under this limited warranty, the warranty claim must be presented
during the warranty period to Company or one of its authorized representatives, together with a
receipt bill of sale or other appropriate written proof of purchase.

This limited warranty does not apply to normal wear and tear, nor to claimed defects,
malfunctions or failures that result from abuse, neglect, shipping damage, damage caused
accidentally or deliberately, exceeding weight limits, improper assembly, improper maintenance,

Useful Product Life Cycle
Every Trikke™ cambering vehicle has a useful product life cycle. The length of that useful product
life cycle will vary with the maintenance and care received over its useful product life, and the
type and amount of use the Trikke Tribred cambering vehicle is subject to. The Trikke Tribred
cambering vehicle should be checked periodically for indicators of stress and any other indicators

SNELL, CPSC, ASTM, OR DIN EN 1078 APPROVED HELMET. WAER PROPER FOOTWARE AND SECURE LACES BEFORE
RIDING.
•AVOID WATER, BUMPS, GRAVEL, SAND, CRACKS, UNEVEN SURFACES OR OBSTACLES THAT MAY STOP YOU
