Workshop Valencia
FORTHCOMING SPANISH ARCHITECTURE/VALENCIA
In the last two decades the Spanish architecture has enjoyed high recognition at the international level. The consolidation of the formation
of new architects in our schools and the expansion of projects, both public and private, have invaded our territory with architectural works
of quality. On the other hand, the impact of the internationalization of national publications around the field of architecture has enabled
the dissemination and knowledge at the international level of this important moment in the expansion and publicity of our country.
The current crisis paralyzes our profession. The reality precludes the development of the practice and theory of the discipline of
architecture as it has been conceived so far. We are faced with an important moment for reflection, that should question the effectiveness
of the methods applied until today.
"Spain mon amour” is since then the celebration of a stage, a group of architects and a construction site, but also a regret for the past that
has come to an end, a complaint for a present that is currently dislocated and an invitation to think about the future in another way"1.

ALBERTO RUBIO GARRIDO
“After I graduated as an architect, I approached gradually to the study of aesthetics. That imput led me to join the Faculty of Philosophy of
Valencia, where I currently conduct my PhD thanks to a scholarship from the Spanish Department of Education. Since then, I try to bring
Critical Theory, and more precisely the work of Theodor W. Adorno, into the discipline of architecture. My field of study is specifically about how
instrumental transformation of the concepts of autonomy and history are involved in the deception that underlies Modern Architecture.”
