Every day, the YMCA of Greater Dayton gives our community the support it needs to learn, grow and thrive. From advocacy to food security, disease prevention to athletics, football to dance classes, everything we do helps strengthen our neighborhood and the people who live here. But keeping the Miami Valley great is a full-time job. Every day, our community faces new challenges that create a greater need for the work we do. And we need your help to do it. Your gift can help the Miami Valley and everyone in it shine. For a better you. For a better community. For a better country. MARY’S STORY: FROM STRUGGLE TO SUCCESS Your donation to the Y helps people and families in your neighborhood. Mary Conner* shares her story with us. “I moved back to Ohio with my two young children eighteen months ago, leaving an abusive marriage, with nothing more than my old car full of belongings, no job and no prospects. I found a job making just above the poverty level, making too much for state assistance, but barely enough to get by. The YMCA came to my rescue with quality child care and I was able to afford it using the YMCA scholarship program. Since attending the YMCA, my children have made many new friends and I am amazed at how they are developing. We love the teachers at the Y and my children are very bonded to the staff. Had I not received the scholarship program at the YMCA, my children would not have gotten the same care and attention for their development. My oldest is starting kindergarten and thanks to his wonderful Y teachers, he has been assessed as being advanced for his age for both speech and vocabulary. The YMCA teachers have been loving caregivers to my children while I work and the Y has instilled a greater sense of community in them and me as well. Currently, I work and attend law school at the University of Dayton. It’s been a long road and the YMCA has enabled us to move forward and rebuild our lives in a happy and healthy environment. I cannot thank the Y and all its supporters enough. If you wonder if your gift really does help, please believe me when I tell you it does! YOU DO MAKE A DIFFERENCE!” GIVE TODAY We have an extraordinary opportunity to ensure a brighter future for the Miami Valley, but we need your help.
