Please bring your items to the yellow entrance or drop them off directly at the Green depot; be sure to bring along the slip from the depot to add to your child’s total. Prizes will be given to the students who bring in the highest number of items in each grade. We need parent volunteers to come along and record items or bring recyclables to the depot. Please call the school at 5960426 or send a note if you are available to help out. Please be sure to write your child’s name, grade, class and number of items brought on the bag/s. Note: Please remove all bottle caps, rinse all containers , place glass in a box. Thank you for your support. Restricted Foods/ Items Carbonear Academy has several students that have severe, life threatening allergies to the following food items; All nuts, kiwi and fish. These are airborne allergies that pose a significant health risk. For this reason we are asking that all parents/guardians are vigilant in ensuring that those foods items are not sent to our school in any form. This is also a smoke free and scent free building. Grade 7 and 8 Exam Schedule Grade 8 Year End June 17th AM LFI Grade 7 LFI Grade 8 June 18th PM Grade 7 Language Arts Grade 8 Language Arts June 19th AM Grade 7 Math Grade 8 Science On June 24th there will be an awards/farewell celebration for our grade 8 students. The evening will begin with a short presentation of awards, grade 8 parents are welcome to attend. After the presentations, parents will be asked to leave, the students will then have a dance, followed by food and a cake. More details and specifics will follow in a memo. A reminder to parents that this is not a formal event. We request that suits or formal gowns not be worn. June 20th PM Grade 7 Science Grade 8 Math Please Note: During exam week, when students are not writing exams they are expected to attend school. Review classes will be held to help students prepare for upcoming tests. Parents who choose to allow students to stay home between exams, will have to come to school and sign them out. Students will not be permitted to leave school independently. Even if a note is provided, parents will have to sign students out. Sincere Thanks To all our parents, grandparents, and friends who so generously volunteer their time in our school. Thank you for all your dedication and generosity. Special Thank You to Mrs. Christine Gillespie for coordinating our Breakfast Program. Kindergarten Year End This event will be held on June 19th. Students will wear kindergarten gowns for the entire program, therefore fancy suits or dresses are not recommended as they will never be seen. Teachers may need help with decorations, a further more detailed memo will be coming home. Outdoor Days As the weather improves, we will be trying our best to take our students outside for lunch play time. We ask parents to make sure your children are dressed appropriately for the weather. On outside days, all students will be going outside. If there is a medical reason why your child can not go outside, we are requesting that parents send a note. Wishing all the students and families of Carbonear Academy a safe, happy, healthy summer vacation. We will look forward to seeing you all return in the Fall. To our grade eight students we wish you all good things at Carbonear Collegiate.
