Twist Items Are Gifts that Keep Giving!
A Twist auction is a silent auction with a TWIST. Instead of tables filled with items you may only use for a little while, our 12
TWIST tables are filled with items that give you a chance to help St. Mary’s Parish and School and St. Patrick/St. Anthony Parish
meet real needs with gifts that keep giving.
TWIST Items Double Your Donation! For every dollar you give at a TWIST Table, another dollar is donated to St. Mary’s Parish and School and St. Patrick/St. Anthony
Parish. This dollar-for-dollar match was made possible thanks to the generosity of both corporate and individual donors from
St. Mary’s Parish and School and St. Patrick/St. Anthony Parish. The match money will only be accessed when all the needs
have been met on the TWIST Tables. The goal of the match is to inspire guests to collectively sponsor ALL of the needs on
the TWIST Tables the night of the event.
TWIST Tables are Easy!
There are no minimum bid amounts at a TWIST Table. You can give 1 dollar or 100 dollars. The point is to work collectively to
meet real needs of our faith community.
TWIST Items Are 100% Tax Deductible!
Whatever amount you choose to give at a TWIST Table is 100% tax deductible. Remember, every dollar donated gets us closer
to exhausting the dollar-for-dollar match money available for our St. Mary’s Parish and School and St. Patrick-St. Anthony
Parish Faith Community.
TWIST Tables are Fun!
TWIST TABLE RAFFLE
Visit all 12 TWIST Tables to receive a punch on your TWIST Ticket (found on the back of this program). Guests with 12 punches
will be eligible to enter the TWIST Table raffle drawing to win a Philips 43” HDTV valued at $449. No gift requirement to receive a
punch. Guests can show their 12 punches to a volunteer at the TV display table to receive their complimentary raffle ticket for
the 7:50 drawing! BONUS - When you make a donation at a TWIST Table, your name is automatically entered into a drawing
for a special gift and St. Mary’s one-of-a kind art piece displayed at each table!!!
BANG A GONG!
It is rare to find an occasion worthy of gong banging – this happens to be one of them! Any guest who fulfills the final sponsorship
at a TWIST Table gets to celebrate that need being met by banging the gong! BONUS - If you are the lucky person to be the last
sponsor for a table - need met - you will take home a TWIST Table bottle of wine
TWIST TABLE HOSTS - Tom Conroy and Sierra Swartz
”I’m honored to be able to emcee the twist tables this year alongside Tom Conroy.
My husband Dennis and I have been part of the St. Mary’s parish family since 2009
and school since 2012. I was quick to join the PTO and volunteer for events where I
found instant friends, family and support. For the last few years, Tom and I have
been active campaign members in support of the Mary, Seat of Wisdom campaign.
We are both local business owners and have a vested interest in the success and legacy
of our parish, school and tri-cities area.
We are all blessed to live in such a loving and caring community. It is our duty to protect it, help it grow and become better for
future generations. I humbly ask that you open your hearts (and your wallets) and show your support this evening at our TriCities Unity Auction.”
Thanks,
Sierra N. Swartz

A LETTER FROM OUR REVEREND PRIEST
FAT H E R D AV I D G R O S S
Welcome to this year’s Tri-Cities Unity Auction! Thanks to this event and the wonderful support
of our donors, we are better able to provide an opportunity for every child in the Tri-Cities
Area to receive a quality Catholic education. I have been looking forward to attending this
year’s auction since the moment last year’s auction was completed. I was truly blown away
by the extreme generosity of so many people, as well as by the support that the community
demonstrated for our school and our parishes. Once again, we are utilizing the “Auction with a
Twist” format, which was extremely successful last year in helping to meet some specific needs
of our parishes and school. My hope is that people will have a better understanding of what
we are trying to do with these tables this year, and that this will be a time when we can come
together to support several great causes. One of the great things about the Twist Tables is that
everyone can contribute and feel a part of this portion of the auction; whether your bid is large
or small, it makes a BIG difference!
There have been some questions lately regarding where the money raised at this auction actually goes. We have
included in this program a breakdown of where the money from last year’s auction was allocated. As was the
case last year, the vast majority of the dollars goes directly into our tuition assistance fund. The primary goal of
the Unity Auction is that the demonstrated need of every potential school family is completely met. This doesn’t
mean that the tuition will be free or that choosing a Catholic school won’t be a sacrifice, but it does mean that
those who would normally be unable to afford to send their children to St. Mary’s are given the opportunity
to do so. Education is getting more expensive every year, and the reality is that the cost of tuition will probably
never go down. It is our goal to make sure that money is never an insurmountable obstacle to choosing a Catholic
school. The generosity of so many parishioners and community members at this event goes a long way toward
making this goal a reality. Within the walls of our school we stress service and generosity, seeing the gifts and
sacrifices of so many people at events like this evening goes a long way in teaching these values by example.
Thank you so much for your support of our two parishes and our amazing school. Enjoy yourselves tonight and
appreciate the chance you are giving to help more boys and girls receive a quality education in the Catholic faith!
The future of our church depends on them and on your generosity. Your sacrifice is greatly appreciated.
God bless you all!

FAT H E R W I L L I A M L A N G L O I S
Welcome to Unity Auction 2016
I am always excited to be a part of this wonderful tradition of the Unity Auction! Now
in its 19th year, what a testimony to the fantastic work of the Unity Auction team, the
sponsors, and families who believe in Catholic education in the Tri-Cities area.
I am truly grateful to Fr. Dave, Steve VanHammen, teaching staff, school board, and the
many volunteers and parents who make St. Mary’s School the jewel it is today. It’s a great
collaboration of our two parishes.
Most importantly, it’s all about our students! They represent the future leaders of our
faith communities and the world. On behalf of St. Patrick-St. Anthony Parish, thank you so much for your
support of the Unity Auction.

Dear Friends of Catholic Education:
Welcome to the 19th annual Tri-Cities Unity Auction to benefit Catholic Education in the
area. As principal of St. Mary’s School, I am grateful for the support that this event has
provided our staff and students over the years. Besides the scholarship support that makes
Catholic Education affordable for our families, the auction has furnished many things for the
classrooms at St. Mary’s School. This auction is keeping St. Mary’s vibrant as we continue
to fulfill our mission that states, “St. Mary’s School fosters spiritual development, academic
excellence, responsibility to self and service to others in order that the Gospel of Christ may
be known to the world”.
The impact of the Tri-Cities Unity Auction goes far beyond the walls of St. Mary’s School. Every student who
attended or currently attends St. Mary’s School has been aided by your generosity the past eighteen years. You
are the reason Catholic education is alive and available for our families. The money generated has provided so
many things for our school that help prepare our students become successful in their academic and spiritual life.
Many of our St. Mary’s students have gone on to be leaders at the various high schools in the Tri-Cities area in
academics and athletics.
On behalf of St. Mary’s School, I would like to thank all of the volunteers who helped make this evening possible!
I would also like to thank all of the businesses, families and individuals who donated items for the Unity Auction.
Your unselfish support is a true blessing! Enjoy this wonderful evening together as we celebrate Catholic
Education in the Tri-Cities!
May God Bless You!

TESTIMONIALS
“St. Mary’s School is much, much more than just an excellent academic institution. It is unique in that the
teachings of Jesus Christ fully entwine with everything we do....every subject, every lesson, every project, every
decision, and every problem we solve. St. Mary’s Cyclones succeed in school and stewardship - and, most
importantly, they remember to give all the glory to God.”
- Tricia Suchecki, 3rd grade teacher St. Mary’s Catholic School
“With my husband and I both being teachers, we value education a great deal and St. Mary’s academics are
top notch! However, even more importantly we value our morals and Catholic faith. Being a part of St. Mary’s
school allows our children to build a strong moral compass while being encouraged to reach their full potential
in the classroom. We are fortunate to be a part of a very special community at St. Mary’s.”
-Julie Andree, St. Marys Catholic School Parent and Public School Teacher
“We chose St. Mary’s School because it has a reputation of producing exceptional students and leaders. A friend,
who is a teacher at a local public high school, told us he can tell which of his students graduated from St. Mary’s.
He said they are more eloquent, more focused, and usually the top performers in his classes. We also liked the
small class sizes, and attention each child gets from their teachers and classroom aides. Furthermore, we felt it
was very important for our children’s education to include Jesus at the center of all that they are learning.”
- Jennifer Grossman, St. Mary’s Catholic School Parent and St. Patrick/St. Anthony Parishioner
“We decided to take our children out of an excellent public school, and enroll them at St. Mary’s. It has been
one of the best decisions we have made for our children, and the St. Mary’s community has eagerly welcomed
us as a family. Our children are receiving a foundation of faith in a loving, Catholic atmosphere and an
education that goes above and beyond. We have witnessed our children growing in their academic skills, their
love and faith in God, their affection for the Holy Catholic Church and respect toward others. We can’t think of
a better way to prepare our children for their journey ahead.”
- Emily Mogren, St. Mary’s Catholic School Parent
“St. Mary’s Catholic school taught our children the importance of a Catholic Christian education by praying
daily intentions, saying grace before eating lunch, praying spontaneously when emergency vehicles drove
past the school or when there was an urgent need to pray. The faculty and staff were great role models who
demonstrated respect at all times. Academically, my children were challenged which provided them with
critical thinking skills that helped them in high school and college. St. Mary’s will always hold a special place in
our hearts.”

AUC TION WITH A T WIST
LIVE AUC TION
Our Auctioneer this evening is Professional Licensed Auctioneer, Jason Lamoreaux
Born and raised in West Michigan, Jason grew up surrounded by the sights and sounds of his
family’s owned auction business. At 15, he called his first benefit auction and attended the Missouri
Auction School. After graduating from Grand Rapids Catholic Central, Jason received both a BA and
MA in Business Administration. Jason has conducted hundreds of auctions in over 25 states across
the country. He is a member of the National Auctioneers Association as well as the Michigan State
Auctioneers Association. We are thrilled to have Jason with us tonight!
How to Bid On Items
• You must have a bid number (received at check-in) to bid on auction items.
• The auctioneer will describe each item and open bidding with a suggested dollar amount.
• To bid, simply hold your bid number up high so that our spotters can see it.
• The auctioneer will acknowledge your bid by calling out the amount you are bidding.
• The auctioneer will determine the highest acceptable bid and call the winner.
• Winning bidders will be asked by the spotters to sign an auction receipt, at which time they should verify that the bid number,
bid amount and item description are correct.
By bidding, you are stating that you are ready and willing to purchase an item for your bid amount. The winning bid is final and nonretractable.
Three Unique Auction Formats
During the auction we will be offering three different ways to bid and donate – participate in all three!
1. TRADITIONAL LIVE AUCTION: Will be conducted as described above.
2. RAFFLE FOR AUCTION BUCKS: Raise your bid number to purchase $50 raffle tickets for a chance to win $1000 worth of Live
Auction Bucks to be used during the Live Auction portion of the evening.
3. GIFT CERTIFICATE FRENZY: A wide variety of gift certificates will be offered at two different times during auction. The auctioneer
will read the name and amount of the gift certificate prior to offering at retail value. The first visible paddle to the auctioneer
will be the winner. (However, the auctioneer does reserve the right to hold a short “bid off” on the certificate if there is more
than one paddle in the air.)
4. FUND-OUR-FUTURE: We’ll conclude with a specialfund-our-future format to benefit the St. Mary’s Catholic School Tuition
Fund that aids families in need of tuition assistance in the form of scholarships. We are going to have this fantastic facility but
a facility is no good without students, your support of FUND-OUR-FUTURE tuition assistance will help to insure that all who
seek a Catholic education will find it available at St. Marys. The auctioneer will start out with the donation level that equals
the cost to send one child to school at St. Mary’s - $3,500. He will allow time for everyone who is interested in donating at
that level to raise their paddle so their bid numbers can be recorded for that amount. He will then move down to the next
lower donation level. This is a great way to help provide a scholarship for a child.
Payment and Tax Information
The Auction Committee requests prompt payment to allow for the timely closing of Auction Accounting. Option to PREREGISTER YOUR
CREDIT CARD at CHECK-IN will be available. CHECK-OUT with cash, check, Visa or MasterCard may be used for immediate payment
auction night. Tri-Cities Unity Auction asks that all certificates (especially those for dinners and services provided by parishioners) be
redeemed within twelve months to allow these donors to participate in next year’s auction.
All items are auctioned “as is” and may not be exchanged or refunded, unless stated in the description of that item in this catalog and
any addendum. To attempt to return or exchange items for their retail value impairs the efforts of the Unity Auction in procurement
attempts for the following year.
The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has asked all non-profit organizations to inform buyers at charity auctions such as the Unity Auction
that the value of a buyer’s donation is equal to the price paid for the item at the auction less the “fair market value” of the item. Your
receipt serves as your documentation for the IRS. The “Donor Value” of an auction item on your receipt is equal to the “Retail Value”
provided to us by the donor. The donor’s donation is equal to the actual cost to the donor, or the portion thereof, when the donor
provided the item to the auction. The Tri-Cities Unity Auction falls under the Federal taxpayer Identification Number of St. Mary’s
Church, which is 38-1404598.

FUND OUR FUTURE
Not every child who wants to attend St. Mary’s Catholic School can. You can change that tonight!
Each year St. Mary’s Parish and St. Patrick/St. Anthony Parish generously donate to the Tuition Assistance Fund for St.
Mary’s Catholic School. Donations for this grant are not held for investment purposes and are therefore available to provide
direct scholarships to families in need. The family’s cost to send one child is $3,500. Children who otherwise may not have
been able to benefit from a Catholic education at St. Mary’s School have been blessed by this program and have gone on
to become successful members of our community.
HOW CAN YOU DONATE TONIGHT?
Our auctioneer for the evening will start out the donation levels at the approximate cost to send one child to school at St.
Mary’s for one year. He will allow time for everyone who is interested in donating at that level to raise their paddle so their
bid number can be recorded for that amount. He will then move down to the next lower donation level and continue that
process for the remainder of the Fund-Our-Future portion of the evening.
We are going to have this fantastic facility but a facility is no good without students,
your support of FUND-OUR-FUTURE tuition assistance will help to insure that all who seek a
Catholic education will find it available at St. Marys.
Thank you to the entire St. Mary’s School Community for all you have done for us!
